  1. I agree Arvel isn't so great. Only time I saw him work was blocking Han at an angle with Golds circling with ion cannons. That was kinda cool although pretty narrow.
  2. Sure thing! See you guys at Saturday's tournament! Just finished a lengthy Kath Scarlet reprint for it (Spoiler Alert: Playing Kath Saturday).
  3. Can you participate in league if you can only come sporadically to Monday nights? Also ... Is it only 1 ship or total not more than 33? Are upgrades allowed (up to 33 total)? Are discarded upgrades (bombs, missiles, torps) replenished between battles? Are unique upgrades available at start (Astromechs, Titles, ect.)? Are any left over points from original 33 saved for future spending?
  4. I don't understand this sentence...You only need one shield for Chewbacca to work. Chewie is never a waste! He is half price of other directly comparable upgrades. He is better the higher his ship's agility is as well(mathematically speaking). Therefore the Hawk is the best EV for that upgrade in the game.
  5. Here is my Bomber Squad list ... Howlrunner (23pts) - Squad Leader - Stealth Device Captain Jonus (30pts) - Push the Limit - Assault Missiles Gamma Squadron Pilot (23pts) - Assault Missiles Gamma Squadron Pilot (23pts) - Assault Missiles Alpha strike with 3 Assault Missiles. Two with Jonus reroll, one with Focus plus possible extra action from Squad Leader (unless Howlrunner needs to make lower skilled pilot target lock after it moved). Afterwards, Howlrunner allows Bombers to battle after alpha. Less guns than a swarm, but same hit points ... with alpha strike.
  6. The last tournament, some guys where very late too (I think around 2?). It was arranged with TO Jamie to skip round one with either a bye or draw and play round 2. Play start is typically a while after noon with filling out rosters, get squad all set-up and waiting for pairings. Typical rounds are 75 minutes too (with finishing of turn as well). 2pm might work ... I'd try and make arrangements with Jamie? PM me (or yagyu ... That's him) for his contact info if you need it.
  7. If I played Jan (haven't yet) I'd likely put Chewbacca in as crew to keep her alive... Jan Ors (36pts) - Ion Cannon Turret - Chewbacca - Swarm Tactics 3x Rookie Pilot (63pts)
  8. I believe Mondays at borderlands is mostly for Demo of X-Wing and pick-up games. They do have a monthly tournament as well. This month is Sat the 23rd at noon.
  9. Borderlands Games in Salem has a monthly X-Wing tourney. Nov is Sat the 23rd @ noon. $50 for winner plus additional prizes depending on turnout. Game night support prizes for top players too! Last month was won by an Imperial Ace squad consisting of Soontir Fel (PtL,SD), Kath Scarlet (EH,Gunner,SD), and Backstabber (SD). I got 2nd with Imperial mini-swarm (Howlrunner and 3 Academy Pilots) with Bounty Hunter w/Gunner. 3rd place was Double Falcon. Those were the prize winners ... The rest were an assortment of Swarm, and a few Ace rebels. Surprised at not much Wave 3 stuff ... I'm also planning on attending Dice Age Games X-Wing tournament in Vancouver on Dec. 7th.
  10. YT-1300 - Darth Vader - Marksmanship, Gunner, Falcon Title, Engine Upgrade, Chewbacca, Assault Missiles. A-Wing - Biggs - Stealth Device, Push the Limit, Assault Missiles.
  11. I like this one: 31pts •Biggs Darklighter - Stealth Device, R2-F2 26pts •Garven Dreis 21pts Rookie Pilot 21pts Rookie Pilot Biggs has 4 defense dice and picks up a focus from Garven for more defense (lots of squads shoot after PS6). Can typically survive early exchange with hardly a scratch ...
  12. I've got 1-2 more ... But they are long shots ... I don't think their schedule will work out. Seems like there will be some who play and show up you don't know? If players of X-Wing knew we had a showing ... More likely to make effort! It's inertia!
  13. I put the Dec 7th tournament on my calendar. Please update us on exact time and rules as it approaches. Three of our playgroup is going to Borderlands on Oct 26th ... Hopefully I can convince a few more of my guys to go to future tournaments!
  14. Sorry for double post ... I am bringing 2 with me to this tournament. So that's 3 from up here.
  15. I agree ... First thing I thought was where is the Anti-Pursuit Lasers?
  16. The thing with Interceptors getting a boost card was that they didn't need it. Soontir and Turr are already really good, and Sabers w/PtL are great! They didn't need help. I do agree that Tie Advanced do need help. Other than Vader they are a waste of points IMO.
  17. I'm willing to drive all over greater portland area for Tournaments (not leagues and game nights so much). Please post when Dice Age has next one. Borderlands in Salem has one Oct 26th at noon I'll be attending. If several shops hold occasional tournaments, it would be great to get a regional community going strong.
  18. @ Hans Chung-Otterson: if Gaurdian Games has a Star Wars LCG tournament, please post it. It is too far for friends and I to drive for a game night, but some of us would make the effort for a tournament.
  19. If I can get all my work done tomorrow in time, I plan to be there around 6ish? If I stayed for the RPG later in night, is there anything extra I need to know for character creation?
  20. Yes ... Even your characters. Yes ... Not every turn. Every time focused to strike ... Which likely isn't every turn with waste out. No limit of reactions ... But, so far no infinite triggers that I know of.
  21. Apparently Borderlands Games in Salem has Monday Nights @ 5pm for X-Wing, LCG, and Edge of the Empire. I will be trying to go there when I can (Mondays are not best for me). I also throw Star Wars gaming parties at my home or my Dad's place in Yamhill county fairly often on Fridays. If anyone is in McMinville/Newberg area and interested in invite, PM me.
  22. I am a long time Magic player (since 1994) and discovered Star Wars LCG in August ... Haven't played magic since The game is growing in my neck of the woods. I have held two intro parties and have given out 3 core sets as gifts (and plan to do more). It is much more interesting and more enjoyable than Magic IMO (not to mention much less expensive to be competitive). I hope it grows alot more! I'm doing my part.
  23. Forward Command Post accomplishes this as well.
  24. Before seeing the results on wave 2 and wave 3 it was pretty obvious that the reversed formula wasn't what FFG used ... 2 points for 2 attack, 2 Agility, and 3 Hull ... That would be über powerful at 2 points.
