  1. Does anyone know if more app campaigns are planned? While these raid maps are better than nothing, the campaigns have been great.
  2. The app won't add anything. The ISB pack includes an extra mission that you can add to the campaign, but I wouldn't call it essential. They are quite a powerful unit though, particularly if the Rebels have a lot of white defence dice characters. My group found the difficulty level of the missions in Bespin to be very swingy, with a couple that are really really tough for the Rebels if the Imperial player takes maximum advantage of knowing what's coming.
  3. I get that he has a good insight pool, but was there anything else about him that helped? None of his abilities seem all that applicable. I could see Murne wrecking people with that weapon and Lead from the Front.
  4. Hahaha, I was looking at the pic thinking "yeah that looks great, I should definitely try to improve my Vader mini as well. Maybe I can get it halfway as nice as this one" and then I noticed the caption said "before"... "After" looks amazing.
  5. Part of me thinks you've got access to the original models from the film, and you're trolling us
  6. This time it's the AT-DP. Rather than repeat the AT-ST or Weiss looks, I wanted it to look a bit more like the CG look of the Rebels TV show and the flatter grey they use. AT-DP
  7. Outstanding. Red 2 is a great choice. Only Porkins would have been cooler Also impressed by the photography. What kind of lens are you using?
  8. Thanks I don't think I have Squig Orange, but I'll see how different it is from Jokaero Orange. If I have to go into town to the Games Workshop I will
  9. I was thinking about the AT-ST and the Repulsor Tank a bit, having just painted the AT-DP. I think the AT-ST is over-costed, but one simple change can make it far more effective - give it a free surge. If Awkward is still considered too large a penalty, then you could lose the free surge for adjacent figures, but still attack them. For the Repulsor Tank, I was thinking about the Scorpion Tank in Halo, where nearby friendly infantry would hop on board and you could transport them, and that an ability like that might give the Tank a unique niche. I also like the free MP at the start of activation idea. So something like this: Mechanized: At the start of your activation, gain 2 MP. When you enter a space adjacent to friendly small figures you may push up to 2 such figures up to 1 space in the direction of travel of this figure. That last part is meant to be the tank "carrying" the infantry types, but perhaps it's a bit wordy, and could be simplified to a simple 1 space push, like Onar's Rush ability.
  10. I seriously thought I was looking at reference images for the Ghost here - high quality CG renders. Those pics were the painted model? My mind is officially blown. I'm thinking about having a go at Hera next. Would it be cheeky to ask which colours you used for yours?
  11. My wife is working this holiday weekend, so I have more time to get my brushes out BT-1 and 0-0-0 Speed painted yesterday morning in about 3 hours. Quite pleased with the lighting effect from BeeTee's eye/lens. Wondering if I should push the highlights further on Triple Zero?
  12. This is a difficult problem to solve for all co-operative games. My group tired of Pandemic after a few victories. Flashpoint has had a lot more play, and IA vs the App seems to be the most fun out of all of them, but the problem still remains; if there's one less experienced player, or even just a less forceful/opinionated player, their ideas can be overlooked. It's something I struggle with in the campaign. I want to let players make decisions for their character, but if I see a fellow Rebel about to make a poor move that might cost us the mission, how strongly do I intervene? With my core mates who I've known for years it's easier to judge, but I've got another group of people I know less well, and I'm having to make an effort not to quarterback them. Not sure how successfully either
  13. The Emperor. I didn't go for the steel wool lightning effect because a) no airbrush and b) hopefully we'll use this guy in a campaign soon, and it looks a bit awkward Emperor Palpatine Sorry for the poor quality pic - I used my phone, rather than dig out my SLR.
  14. There aren't any/many figures from the existing canon left to release. Ewoks maybe for the Rebels. Maybe Speeder Bikes and Scout Troopers? Or they could move up into The Force Awakens time period? I'd be happy with new deployment cards (campaign and skirmish), equipment cards, physical campaign missions, and stuff like that. Maybe some figure packs. I think there's enough map tiles already.
  15. Yep, the app has been very fond of those throughout the campaign. I was really surprised we didn't get any vanilla Stormtroopers either. Was also a little gutted there weren't any Wampas. We'd seen them in the deserts of Tatooine, but not the ice fields of wherever Haven is.
  16. We finished up the Hoth campaign against the app last night, and I just wanted to note the sheer volume of Imperial troops that were deployed. During the mission the app used: AT-ST AT-DP x 2 Elite Jet Troopers x 2 Elite Riot Troopers Elite Sentry Droids Elite ISB Infiltrators x 2 SCM-2 Repulsor Tank General Sorin Elite Probe Droid x 2 Elite and Regular Imperial Officers x 2 Elite Heavy Stormtroopers Elite HK Assassin Droids Elite Death Trooper. Kinda wish I had taken a photo of the Imperial graveyard!
  17. Woo. Loku fans represent! Really good mission write-up. Sounds like a you all had a great time. Hired Guns were my favourite Open Group pick when I was playing Imperials. If you are playing Military Might then their parting shot with focus can be pretty nasty.
  18. I had a go at Gamorrean Guards, using one of Sorastro's patreon backer PDF guides. Gamorrean Guards These guys took a really long time to paint. I found working on 4 at a time a bit tiring, but I am quite pleased with the results. You can't really tell, but they have slimy snouts, from a bit of Nurgle's Rot
  19. I pretty much agree with your entire post (apart from reserving comment on some stuff I haven't played yet) but I was curious about your Hoth comment. Which units haven't aged well? I'd guess the tank? Maybe Sorin? The Wampas are always popular when the App inexplicably drops one on us in the middle of a factory/foundry or a desert I've waxed lyrical about Loku on these forums several times. He's my personal favourite hero (not the strongest, but I like him best) and MHD is a solid support hero. Verena might be one of the best designed heroes in the game. Like Diala, she really has no bad skills, but she doesn't feel broken (cough Shyla cough).
  20. Some of the scenarios can take a fair bit of time for sure, but turns are just two actions, and can go quite quick, depending on what players choose to do. It usually took about 2.5 hours for a game. Some scenarios are time limited, others are essentially a race to a single victory condition, or a small number of "goal tokens". I actually quite liked the fact that the base game was a race in which we were all on the same board, but interaction was limited (although you could on occasion really mess with someone's plans). It's a bit like Lords of Waterdeep in that regard. One of the expansions adds piracy missions, so you can attack other ships and steal their cargo (if you have been employed to do so) which definitely adds to the player interaction. What I liked most about it was how much it felt like Firefly.
  21. Military Might is probably my favourite Imp class deck, in that you can almost always do something fun as the IP with your abilities. Some of the others are highly situational. Like, I love the idea of Inspiring Leadership, but the number of turns where all the delectable synergies on offer actually play out are pretty low.
  22. What was it about the rules that put you off? The Firefly board game is one my group have played more than most games (more than anything other than IA I'd think) and it's very thematic. The main problem with it is the sheer amount of space it takes on the table if you play with all the expansions.
  23. Wing Guards are underwhelming compared to Stormtroopers. They are more interesting visually, but really hard to paint because of their crossed arm pose. I could only bring myself to paint 3. I quite liked the Ughnaughts though, with their irritating little junk droid. Murne is a great hero, and one of my favourites I have painted. Davith is ok. I didn't like many of the Bespin missions, although have only played the campaign once. Only the finale seemed well balanced. On the whole I'd say the Bespin expansion is on a par with Twin Shadows, in that it has better tiles and heroes, but worse missions and troops.
  24. Last night it was Pierce for us - usually 1 pierce for each member of the squad alive at activation. Troopers with inherent Pierce 3 were ripping through our black defence dice heroes.
  25. I agree, I normally wouldn't make an attack where I needed surges to make the accuracy, especially not if there were more compelling targets. Maybe if I was shooting at the last healthy Rebel hero...
