I was basically looking at something similar last night... just using Royal Ties and both with stealth but going down to Mauler with Swarm and an alpha.  Allows you to get a PS 1 blocker, a bit more initiative overall since Mauler has the same firepower and lets one other go even sooner.  Stil have 10pts so each can also take an elite or a sheild or even both or upgrade.  Example:

     

    Royal tie + Stealth+Title + Sheild+ PTL  31

    Kir + Stealth +Title + Shield                    30

    Mauler + Swarm                                     19

    Alpha Squad                                          18

     

    Hurts more when you lose a single ship.  Up survival.  Let's you play some games.  Lots of options. 


  2. Green squad looks solid.  Mauler is also big so that he is a bigger target and there have been lots of lists lately where that is exactly what I was looking for.

    Imperial Long Shots, K squad: 99pts

    Krassis + HLC : 43

    Kir + Stealth+ Royal title+ shield : 30

    Scimitar Squadron + missiles + missiles: 26

    Stay away and blast away. Sure, you could take a second missile wave away from Scimitar squad but what do you do with him then or with those extra 6 pts? Upgrade to a tie advanced?


  4. How does Fett do vs swarm? Or a 4-5 interceptor build? They would seem to be the imperial counter if the proton bomb isn't there vs swarm and some of those interceptors are just as maneuverable (enough to keep him in sight at least).


  5. How about Jax, Turr, Fel. PtL on Jax and Fel, VI on Turr. Everyone gets a stealth device. It's a glass Cannon, but it's mighty maneuverable. get in close, fast. Turrets are the usual headache, but it will give other lists fits, especially all those elite rebel build lists.

    That was one I considered. I love the mobility and firepower but hate the survivability. Really like 2 interceptors but more ships or a bigger target seems better.

    Get in their face:

    Bounty Hunter + Gunner= 38

    Jax+ stealth = 29

    Howlrunner + swarm= 20

    Academy tie = 12

    Leaves a point to upgrade or further protect. VI is probably good on Jax as he will likely be taking a lot of fire. Not going to be missing a lot. Gunner might be overkill but I do expect the bounty hunter to be last man standing. seismic charge on BH is possible too. Cut Howl down to another named tie and Royal Guard title Jax with sheild upgrade too? Not a lot of wiggle room but a swarm enabled bounty hunter and an interceptor with 1 reroll and no one able to evade it is going to ice something the first round.


  6. Yeah. His fire power just isn't as good. With the imperial aces stuff coming out even less so since you can get Fell with Target Lock for the same cost as Vader and less than Vader + missiles. The ability to pass out actions is nice but for 29pts you can get an imperial guard + PTL for 2 of your pilots and have more firepower and no mobility restrictions for cheaper than Vader and squad leader. Vader was too much to begin with (all the advanced feel that way right now) but its clear he will be way out classed soon.

    Did Vader fly other Tie Flavors?

    the problem isn't dark cursed since his ability is a conditional ability, the problem is with jax which is a static ability which basically hose the BT by being on the board, and i personally have no qualms with DC but Jax ability on the other hand is a little too much especially for his points

     

    So the problem with Dark Curse is that there exists an easier to attack, 11pt more ship?  You're adapting your arguements here, adapt your in game tactics too.


  8. NOTHING THAT ALTERS THE GAME!

     

    If your game is awesome, people will come to play it.  Regional Tournament winners get Golden Tie/A-wings, National get Golden Interceptors/X-wings, World champs get a golden Firespray/YT.

     

    Some other games had you "design a mini" if you were the winner.  Create your own Pilot would be awesome- obviously it would have to be sent through the same everything but even if you just got to pick the name and "theme" of the pilots skill that would be awesome.

     

    Keep the Acrylic tokens coming.  Maybe dials too?  Alt art is cool too and obvioulsy they are saving alt paint jobs for "Imperial Aces" like releases in the future.

    A decked out Firespray is not a bad answer. That's a ship that you generally don't want to be facing unscathed in the late game. Usually opponents have gone right at it, no matter who else I fly alongside it. Although I don't think I've ever done a Firespray + Howlrunner combo.

     

    That was going to be my next route too.  Not sure where exactly to go with it but there is a big X on the Firespray's base for a reason!

If the 15pt Dark Curse is ruining your 100pt list then you might want to look at your tactics and list building.  Or just ignore him.  Kill everyone else (who are likely much larger threats anyway) and then focus fire on him with standard weapons at range 1; as long as you have 2-3 ships left his 3 die vs. your 3 isn't going to last forever.
