  1. What about buying obstacle upgrades with squad points? There are a lot of lists that add a random R2 or VI or DTF because they have an extra point or 2 left. What if you could up grade your asteroids to all Large, explosive, all small, drifting or, "light weight" (finishes a ships movement with that ship on a pass through). Or what if you could pre-place mines or other dangerous obstacles?
  2. Not a swarm though. Vader's Escort is a Vader shuttle + tie swarm.
  3. I like the 6-7 tie swarms with named pilots. Mauler Stabber Nightbeast Darkcurse Academy x3 Or drop the third academy for upgrades: PTl, stealth, VI are all good on Mauler. Stealth is ok on most of the named ties and lets Nightbeast (free focus + evade) and or Darkcurse(pilot ability) be very hard to take down. After Aces hits opportunist might work. The new "Vader's Escort" list is also getting a lot of attention.
  4. I almost always like a single low PS pilot for blocking. One rookie is usually kinda nice to have around especially if Biggs is tagging along so be can fly like a rookie- straight at em!
  5. Stop hitting yourself. If hits to kill are all that matter why are we even discussing this? Those numbers are clear and unchanging unless we also discuss actions, upgrades, and tactics. Are we looking at stats only? Discussing the difference between Hull and Sheild? Are we discussing toughness to take down? Or are we going to consider actions, upgrades, dials, tactics, and even points?
  6. Beware. The shuttles 3 dice are surprisingly accurate (especially when they are rushing to get behind you). Gunner doesn't trigger as often as it should to justify sinking 5 more points in the great white space bus. I think I would drop it and upgrade mauler to something with umph. He's the clear 1st target with dark curse and the shuttle thing for last. Not sure about the sheild upgrade either, 1 extra hit isn't going to last long. That's 9pts- turn mauler into a bomber with homing missiles and seismic charge? Give ya a little variety. Few more points to play with. Could go with howlrunner and PTL. I don't know. Nothing jumps out despite me really really trying to get a Vader shuttle list to work well.

  9. And neither awings or advanced are priority targets. They will survive longer regardless of stats because they won't be targeted. Interceptors last longer because despite being targeted heavily they are just not able to be shot at more often than any other ship. Get some of the named pillows and upgrades and this happens all game despite being priority targets.
  10. I would put the interceptor in front of the advanced and maybe even the Awing. Swings seem to survive more because they lose so much less of a threat. Advanced are much the same. I would put the number of shots fired vs awings at half the number fired at interceptors and advanced are just easy points (besides Vader, but who runs anything else?). Survive I guess the swings do survive because they are often never shot down. And advanced survive better than anyone because they seldom even make the field.
  11. Yeah. Can we get a droid card post stickied and compiled... there have been a lot of conversations! A nice addition from this one that I hadn't seen before was the idea that an Ion token = a stress token on a droid. I like that. Means you can't have them just discard stress tokens and would have to do something special with the maneuver dials. Of course we could also just add gold maneuvers (no...just no). They could treat all red as white maneuvers and still gain stress other ways and shed stress.
  12. Missiles on an Awing should mean a Greensquad with PTL to go with it. The Awing can't wait around for Garven to catch up and pass the focus. Awings are only worthwhile when you can fly them like Awings, if you're tying them to a less maneuverable ship take a second Ywing.
  13. Started playing the revised list vs an ABXY list but lost connection. Was kinda a toss up with a lot of damage on a few different ships. Higher PS helps get those Target locks and without the APT I don't feel the need to try to chase down a target with them. Another list that came to mind today trying to use dual Shuttles W/ sensors and one HLC (one shuttle bumping the back of the other to remain at range. No luck with that since flying 2 space buses is rough. Might revisit this weekend when I play my buddies 8 year old to get some odd list flying in.
  14. It's hard to turn without advanced sensors and engine upgrade. That makes it's base cost 28 so adding in other stuff makes it rough. There are a few threads over in the general section about it.

I did run an ABXY list and enjoyed it (also mostly an imperial): Greensquad+ ptl+ missile Blue + FCS+ sheild Rookie + R2 Gold + ion turret I decided that upgrading to Garvin or Luke was probably a good idea. Other than that its a fun list. Lots of HP lots of maneuverability out of the Awing, barrelrolls with the bwing, good HPs, turret ion.
  16. I like this list and think it is stronger than the original overall. Option 2: Omicron + Vader + engine + sensors= 31 Gamma+ concussion + seismic= 24 Gamma + concussion = 22 Howlrunner + stealth = 21 Well. Different but more dangerous. Missiles, higher PS and rerolls. Not sure that missiles are worth it at this point.
  17. Does it feel like there are more edge runners after Top 8 videos this year. There was a lot of Edge running in the top 8 (maybe only 4).
  18. I've seen him run well and still die, especially to missiles that don't care about Rng 3. I've seen a startling amount of people play the edges and avoid asteroids all together (I blame all the top 8 videos where I think 3/4 of the games avoided the middle) as well. Biggs almost always dies unless the dice are really on your side. I know I can't be the only one who just guns him down the first round every time I see him.
  19. They certainly make an impact and it is lessened a little by their current placement rules but I would like to see more obstacles than just asteroids. They make and break my day all the time.
  20. It was certainly an inspired mix of the Ryhmer builds and the suicide shuttle builds. I think it lost a little trying to do too much of both.
  21. 4-0 online. Vader has to survive and then they have to chase him to make up points when you've downed one of their threats. Except: it's Vader. You just can't chase him down unless you're packing a turret. Even then 3-4 dice + focus + evade is not looking good. Backstabber has also earned a lot of heat. Keeping him near Vader for the free action in the opening rounds is counter intuitive but also makes sense. Or just keep letting him do his own thing and know that the opponent isn't shooting down Vader or Turr AND is leading them right into your trap.
  22. Just lost with it to an interceptor list online x2. Couldn't chase them down with the bombers to utilize everything but Jendon died first after 2 rounds of target lock handing and handing out 2 rounds of fire (alive for the third but no shots) as expected. Not sure the engine upgrade matters if the ship dies before needing it for turning around, if it goes, so can advanced sensors (maybe). Still not sold on APT vs. second missile. Thoughts? Vs. Interceptors and Swam I would want the second missile for sure. Vs. Rebels that APT is scary good. Updating the list tomorrow.
