What I want-
I: Tie Reaper (a shuttle that can move! With AA and bombs and a bomb load out for the striker escorts!). The fluff even says it could be scum cross over so that makes it more likely right?
R: N1- Leia
S: manga guard
What we'll get-
I: FO/interceptor (hopefully with basic upgrade!)
R: Bomber (making them better at bombing again).
S: mining guild tie (which if it has tie only upgrades to share with the Imperials I am actually ok with!)
What People will say regardless of what we actually get-
I: We still suck at bombing and tech when compared to the other factions!
R: This thing doesn't have enough HP! (To which everyone else will remind them that they can't have 9hps and AG 2+ ships AND regen).
S: whelmed. It's not as strong as the jumpmaster.

fiddled about with
Deathrain+ Bomblet+ LWF+ collision det
3xsnap blacksquad
scimitar with op Specialist and Systems officer.
thinking about dropping a black to WAMPA! or an academy for guided rockets or concussions on deathrain for a bigger punch (or adv sensors for some real shenanagins).

Played a casual match with this last night vs. a novice player. Got the 7 die round from Mauler. It's always fun when that happens.

He was a third in original 3 Aces before Jax. That's kinda the point though: all the empire has had forever is super action efficient arc dodging Aces. All three of the pilots you mention and the 1 I just added do 1 thing- dominate actions. Now Scum does that better on a better chassis. Rebels do it just as well too just a little jankier.
-
2 fixes that make 2/19 playable, only because they have 2 of the best abilities in the game, do not create a fix. Those 2 pilots would see play on any ship at PS 9 and an EPT. Vader probably doesn't even need an EPT.

I think people were just BORED of playing them. There was a 1 to 1.5 year time period where Palp + 2 Aces/X7s was played a lot. That's a LOT of Lambdas stalling in the corner for 3+ rounds (doing this EVERY round in 6+ round tournies).
I think the Palp and X7 changes just gave people an excuse to finally stop playing an archetype they grew bored with.
Boredom and repetition do a lot to lower how well you play ANY game. You do less "trying to win" and more "going through the motions" with certain expected results. At which point you start losing more and get upset you arent getting the same results as before, even though you don't notice that your play involves less critical and creative thinking than before.
I think that really is it. 3 Aces or 2 Aces support, and even if there is a long list of aces in those slots, they all end up feeling like the same game.
Tie/SFs are good and can be different enough. What else do you have? Swarm is still mostly dead, bombers aren't good enough, punishers aren't good enough; shuttle, FS, and basic ties have had no update; and the Adv. and interceptor update wasn't good enough.

Especially in light of recent power spikes that make it common for my opponents to just nautrally roll 2 evades minimum every roll. I dont' even believe in blaming luck, but wow. Unimpressed.
If it's triggered they haven't acted yet so it's your naked dice vs. thier naked dice most of the time. If they did get tokens then they might burn them before combat and that also has value. With Mauler at PS 7 Snapshot is odd since you want to be in place first but with planning and flying I've had moderate success.
The real fun comes if you can fit Operations Specialist and a swarm leader in: everyone takes evaded for def and swarm leader fuel, missing Snap shots generates focus tokens, lots of dice being thrown around.
Yes you get to shoot 2+1 red dice in activation and 2+1+1 in combat. When it happens it's amazing value.

Too much on Emmon there. FS has a too nice of a gun to just leave unmodified. I'd try Dengar on there and put Cad Bane on third ship to discourage burning down Emmon first.

3 sets of sliced tools better than EPT for Palob/4-lom?

How did it go? Try any of the new stuff with them?

I always expect them! And they never show up... people keep telling me that it was a long time ago and I can stop now. But hey, it's been working for me this long so why stop now?

The only 4 pilot ships with obvious and required upgrades to work are always in trouble. Phantom, Scyk and Starviper released with almost mandatory title in box, strikers with no upgrade slots... FFG might have overcompensated lately by giving ships too many slots, well one faction at least, and have been doing a good job on releasing fixes but the Phantom really wanted a real other option to VI and ACD.
Before it was clarified the Adv sensors + double decloak and a SPA was at least interesting and different than SPA. I also suspect that there were other cloak options planned for future release until they saw how broken it was. I'd love to see those options.
Just like the Biggs, jumpmasters, Soontir, Fenn holding back design space discussions, I'd give up ACD in a heartbeat if it was replaced with a more viable option and meant we saw more of the ships on the table.

Today we will get a preview of what's coming... nothing. Nothing is coming. Except winter of course. And probably the Spanish Inquisition.

I remember Mux! I should probably mess with some Scum HWKs again.

As long as you have "Not a stand alone product", "Expansion", "Requires Xwing Core Set to play", and any other flags that anyone stepping into a game store these days knows (and employees knowledgeable to warn wayward buyers) then it's all good.
Phone would be the last place to go. What other games is it by? What does the packaging say? Hey you (employee or other patron) tell me about this... lots of ways to avoid this and if you're not that is solely on you, the buyer. As long as packaging is done well.

And yes Scum likely got "red dice creep" to be able to blow Imperial arc dodgers out of sky when they do get them in arc (can't forget how we got here). Rebels also used to have control to make arc dodging and token stacking harder. Imperials used to have better tech than everyone else. Scum used to only have illicts. Rebels had the best crew. The current flavor mix is madness.
It's not a flavor when it all tastes like... well it's a flavor, but not a desirable one.

"I gave you money even though this is a thing I don't need" is pretty much thier business model already. If consumers can't read and don't do "research", as long as they are not being deceptive about it, its all good.

Just now, BadMotivator said:Indeed. There really is no good argument against this. Their excuses really boil down to ''we don't want to''
As for a price point, it would depend on the contents. But if it's roughly the same number of cards as a typical ship has, I would say $10 would be fair. That's still going to be a huge profit margin.
$10 would be "fair" but they could go bigger and greedier if "profit" is the only thing keeping them from doing it.
I'm imagining more like 20 cards and stuff a pack. I say go big if you're going to do it.

2 hours ago, John Rainbow said:I recall hearing an interview with FFG and the design team where they said they wanted each faction to have a 'flavor'. Rebels have tanky regen, Imps have arc dodging and Scum have epts on more pilots to represent the lack of standardization and motley crue of pirates.
That's all we'll and good until flavor tips balance. Rebels (and now scum) ignore the Imperials flavor of arc dodging with bombs. Scum now ignore the tanky regen by just removing ships from the board before they can regen. And the Imperials... they get good stuff that then gets nerfed or "hate card'd" out before it can do harm while other harmful things are just "tweaked".
The game is full of flavor already and mixing too many flavors together seldom works out for a "good tasting" game.

That was on the drawing board too! Snap Fos look pretty nifty.
