  1. Ultimate Games & Comics will be one the only store in Kentucky hosting the Lord of the Rings Fall 2016 Fellowship event. This location is also the closest proximity for most of the surrounding states - Indiana, Illinois, Missouri etc. The event will be on Saturday, November 12th @ 2 PM, $20 per person to get the exclusive playmat, alternate art Faramir card and the Siege of Annuminas adventure deck. There are only a few of the 9 initial spots still available. Official information about the event is available on Fantasy Flight's site here. Contact Ultimate Games and Comics to reserve your spot today. Reservations are first come, first serve. Don't wait and miss out on getting in on this very limited playmat, alternate card and early access to the Siege of Annuminas adventure deck!
  2. This isnt 100% accurate as well. I bet more people play at home than any gameshop by quite a huge margin. You could completely remove a gameshop and this game would still thrive. People would just have to finally get over the fear of actually inviting a "stranger" over into their house. Thats the unfortunate part about it. There are too many "crazies" and there are still gamers out there that fit the stereotype of being creepy/smelly, and you dont want to be rude to people, but my wife and I dont want rude people in the house. In the end, a LGS is just a place for players to meet up. But I could easily run this game at the local Arbys/Panera/coffee shop, or again, just at my house. People just need to put forth the initiative to do it and dont be lazy. There are least several people on this board who run great events w/o owning a single LGS themselves.~D This, but for slightly different reasons. I live in an area with a little less than 10 game shops and I frequent one. That one game shop I frequent also happens to have one of the best prices in the country for games ONLINE. I buy 95% of my games from them online and then go pick them up. Not one time have I ever stayed to play there and I don't believe I would ever want to do so. If I choose a place to play I want atmosphere. I want the look of a nice coffee shop with hard wooden tables, nice lighting, a subtle scent of java and quality background music. What I do not want is white plastic tables, glaring fluorescent lighting and the smell of chinese food takeout with background music being M:tG players flicking cards back and forth. I will say, I can't think of much that would be better than playing The Grizzled in a nice cozy local coffee shop with some classic french music playing while sipping some nice milked tea.
  3. Can anyone tell what is in his right hand? (on the art image)
  4. The prices already rose. Everything went up about 15%. Noticeably, just due to a larger price, was Rebellion, which went from ~$60 to ~$70.
  5. When will the Return to Hoth environment pieces be for sale? Or did I just miss seeing them?
  6. Really? I don't even see how this is possible. When I have just the smallest area that doesn't have primer covering it get painted, it takes 2-3 times of going over it before it will even stick. The unprimed areas usually just slosh around and I have to put a very large amount of paint to get it to adhere.
  7. I made mine similar to his version. Instead of making the helmet so highlighted with black/gray/white, I used gunmetal black with a slight lightening at the top/edges with a gradient of silver added to lighten it up slightly but give it a slight sparkle. I also used the gunmetal/silver on the upper chest piece and the boots due to them being very glossy. I then covered the helmet, upper chest piece and boots with a few glossy coats.
  8. I went and tried after I saw this and the IA bases are just small enough that they dont 'stick' and slide right out, but that doesn't mean you couldn't put a small piece of tack on the bottom when using it.
  9. Can someone explain the difference between adding an expansion unit halfway through and then using it and having an expansion unit and not utilizing it until halfway through?
  10. I am thoroughly convinced that the reason they released the stormtroopers as a solo pack is because they realized the person/group that designed the models of the originals did a crap job. The new models have the same form (new vs old: straight armor on arms vs bubbled, shallow/wider vs deep/narrow armor gaps, uniform armor vs non-armor locations around the arms vs vanishing lines, sole/boot separation vs no sole/boot separation) as the heavy trooper and Kane Somos which were much better designed models than the originals. The originals were a pain to paint but the difference between the two may not be as noticeable to people who didn't paint them.
  11. I, myself, would like to see skirmishes that are broken down in a more analytical way than what I have seen done by anyone. Similar to what occurs on ESPN and such like this http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2015/05/24/20150523-gt-gsw-hou-gm3.nba/. Stopping the live play to examine the exact process and options that were available and what would have been better / worse in that situation and why.
  12. This is very true. The main issue with the current way this game is produced is that it is based around card chasing... in a miniatures game. The game should have the cards provided to use the miniatures in whatever way that is acceptable, as in, if you have 2 sets of identical figures, the cards provided with them should allow for both forms to be used to their maximum ability. Either FF should make elite units a DIFFERENT model than standard units or they should put both elite and standard unit cards that match the number of units provided. Having a system where the elite and standard units are identical, yet have limited cards for use in skirmish in a package makes NO sense in a MINIATURES game.
  13. I don't care much for fantasy flight games sleeves honestly. They seem so floppy and overly large (at least the standard sleeve sizes anyway). Here is the boardgame geek link that gives sleeves from every publisher and which one fits and how many you need https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/164572/item/3576133#item3576133 . I personally really like Mayday sleeves and have bought hundreds because I really like how I can get sleeves that fit the cards almost perfectly, even though 2-3 out of a pack might be a hair smaller than the rest.
  14. I think Rancors and AT-STs would be on the same size base. Rancors are a little smaller than AT-STs I think. So, just out of curiosity, I looked up the height of both of these just now. Surprisingly, an AT-ST is actually some 12 feet taller than the rancor with the AT-ST coming in at 28 feet (8.6 m) and the rancor at 16.5 feet (5 m).
  15. haha I didn't! I assumed people had to get the extra minis/cards from somewhere to field complete sets and I don't really see regular royal guard cards on ebay/team covenant. Is there another way to complete it?
  16. With purchasing 4 core sets to get enough miniatures and cards to have a 'complete' playset, what do you do with all of the rest?
  17. Next time you should probably post this on the geek as well.
  18. Just curious, how did you go about getting a copy sent to you?
  19. unbelievably awesome! I will have to keep this open the next time i play!
  20. Ok, so I have done multiple FF events in Netrunner but I have never had the chance to do one for LotR. So I was just curious as to exactly what happens. Does every person that participates get the PoD? Is it a competition? Is it casual? Do I have to play in a group or can I play solo? How much does it cost? etc. Any clarifying information would be helpful so I know what I am getting into and what I should show up with when I do go.
  21. I feel as though this game is in good hands after watching the GenCon video. So, I very much believe that if this type of game is possible, they will figure out a way to implement it.
  22. I believe this is the correct order but I could very easily have made mistakes. 23. When you add a card from your deck to the encounter deck how do you deal with the seeing the back of the card? Or does that card have the eye?
