Specialization Decks?
Ineti replied to Desslok's topic in Star Wars Roleplaying Specialization and Adversary Decks
What's on the back of the card? Is it blank or is there some sort of text or artwork? -
Adding and using the dice symbols in documents

So what the heck are we calling this system anyhow?
Ineti replied to Zychon's topic in General Discussion
Another thought is to use a Star Wars-y code name for the system, something like "Gundark" or "Utinni". That'd be fine if all the system is used for is for some form of SW, but if FFG has any thoughts of using the system for another setting or IP (Star Trek, Stargate, X-Files, anything that requires a more narrative game play) then something not-SW specific would be better. -
What do you keep your dice in?
Ineti replied to SmokeGunner's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
I found a small square plastic container at the grocery store that I think was intended for snacks. It has a snap-on lid and is just the right size for two sets of dice plus 2d10, glass bead tokens for my character's strain and wounds, and the little diecast miniature of the group's converted YT-1300. All in one compact case. I think I'm going to need one more set of dice, though, so I may need a slightly bigger solution. -
I would buy cards that had ready-made stats for common enemies in a heartbeat. +1 Absolutely. That would make my GMing prep time so much more effective if I don't have to type up a bunch of stat blocks.

My friends at GenCon have secured a copy for me, but I won't see it until our Monday night SW session. They also scored me a copy of Beyond the Rim, so I have that to look forward to as well.

I think I'm leaning toward "Narrative System" myself. That's really what the game is designed around--cooperatively narrating the best SW story possible. Er, hmm. "Cooperative Narrative System." CNS? This is one of the few games I know of (other than maybe Dogs in the Vineyard?) that really encourages the players to add to the narrative via the dice, making it a real cooperative effort. Hmm. I think I like CNS better. -
Specialization Decks?

Looks like the first six are available at Gen Con, so maybe someone will post a review of card quality, etc. -
I imagine they're repurposing SWLCG art.

Specialization Decks?
Ineti replied to Desslok's topic in Star Wars Roleplaying Specialization and Adversary Decks
I wonder if this is all the decks we'll see (AoR not withstanding). I don't see anything for Colonist at all. I have to believe they'll make a deck for each spec eventually. -
Specialization Decks?
Ineti replied to Desslok's topic in Star Wars Roleplaying Specialization and Adversary Decks
Well, even if the same talent is on one tree multiple times, the cost is different. As for the price, I can't imagine buying them all for myself. Just the ones for my character. -
Specialization Decks?

Each specialization has a total of 20 talents right? So one deck of cards will cover one complete specialization. If you're a smuggler, get the smuggler deck, etc. No need to buy it more than once. -

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4300 Looks like a handy resource. Sort of like 4e power cards. Just print the ones your character has. Less page flipping. -
Exactly. They make for some great roleplaying and plotting material; super handy to use.

Printing errors happen all the time in the big ol' publishing business. Blame the printer, not FFG. I'm willing to bet the books ship from the printer directly to the retailers, not to a FFG warehouse and then on to the retailers. Even if the books did ship to FFG first, it's highly, highly unlikely they have employees tasked with flipping through every single copy of every single book they print, checking for errors. They trust the printer to get it right--that's partly what the printer is paid to do--deliver error-free product. But errors happen. If a printer makes enough errors often enough, I imagine FFG would stop using them and find a different printer.

Just spitballing here, but what would happen to the game balance if Force Rating was simply another characteristic, that started at 0 for most species at chargen (except for some species that have a natural affinity to the Force and start with a 1 rating)?

What does your avatar say about'cha?

Also doubles as a lovely bull's eye for us Rebel scum to aim at. -

I like ancient Egypt. Oh, and not enough interesting SW icons to choose from. -
Which is why it's rarely a good idea to try building the iconic craft using the basic materials in the core EOTE book. Solo and Chewie have access to talents and buffs we haven't even dreamed of yet.
-
Indeed. And with a hopefully regular influx of new supplements (but if nothing else, AoR and F&D) there's plenty of stuff to spend XP on. At our rate, it'll be a while before we run out of stuff to spend XP on.

Find a copy of WEG's Imperial Sourcebook. Lots of good information in there. The vehicles and so forth would need conversion work to the FFG system, but that shouldn't be too hard. Then you'd need to develop some new talents for an Imperial campaign. Stuff like Avoid Force Choke, various levels of Sycophant, and Scourge of Jawas.

Hit the local US Post Office and make use of bulk rate media mail shipping for all those pesky, heavy books.

One of the many SW campaigns I ran had the player characters as fighter pilots stationed on a Nebulon-B frigate roaming the Outer Rim, conducting hit and run operations. Basically a pen and paper version of the classic X-Wing computer game. Good times.

Oops, double post.

Incidentally, didn't the EOTE beginner box come out just before Christmas? I wonder with the early October deadline for beta feedback...maybe we'll see an AoR beginner box this holiday season.
