Howlrunner's ability only applies to Primary Weapons. doh....

Well the list gives you 8 attack 3 shots that reroll 1 die, then continuing on howlrunner will still give the other ships a reroll after the ordinance is off. Its basically intended to be a swarm that sacrifices some ships and agility for some early game damage. I've personally always liked cluster missiles, I would rather fire more shots than a few big ones. Also the low PS Bomber will be a bit finicky with their target locks and probably need to be ready to fire their ordinance in short range which the cluster missile can do. I don't necessarily think its a powerhouse build or anything but I think it will be something interesting to try.

Ok, I already use vassal, I was mostly just wondering where to meet people to set up games but I just joing TC so I will look there.

Picking the squad is always the hard part for me. I actually think I figured one out while I was at work last night. Now to see if I can't get it play tested a couple times before I submit a final version to you.

Where does everyone find games online? I would like to find some games to play before the tournament starts up but am not really sure where to get in touch with folks.

Cool, I'm in then. I should be able to find the time to play, I just didn't wanted to make sure it wouldn't be anything huge if I couldn't. Now I have to decide which of the squads I've been fiddling around with would go over best.

What happens if we are unable to complete a game? I'll be away for vacation for the first round and will probably not be able to complete that game. Though there is a possibility that I could find time and I would like to play in the other rounds even if I miss the first one.

I would think they should loose the focus action and all be something PS 3 or less.

Expanding into the future we also have the Star Wars Rebels cartoon that will debut in about and year and then movie number 7 which will debut about a year after that. I wouldn't be surprised if wave 5 or 6 featured all ships from the new show (probably ships we haven't seen before) and that wave 7 or 8 would be all ships from movie 7 as I would expect to see new stuff in there too. -

I could not agree more. There are so many better, more needed and more well known ships that they could include. All it would do is let the rebels be swarmy to. Blurring the lines between the factions wouldnt be a good thing. Before everyone starts yelling, yes you could make it unique (to a point) but at its core it would just be a cheap rebel ship. I don't see how people keep making this argument, you can already do a semi swarm with a-wings, and now you have a 16 ship in the generic hwk, neither are particularly great when spammed. Rebels are already getting low costed ships and we still aren't seeing a swing toward any high number list other than 4 x-wings. What do we really expect the z95 to be? I would expect the following: PS 1 Attack 2 Agility 2 Hull 2 Shields 2 Astromech, missile/torpedo, 14pts, dial similar to x-wing Does this make a good swarm? I dont really think so. I cannot see the z95 having better than 2 attack or agility and I think that that will sink its roll as a swarm ship. Being more expensive and less defensive than an academy pilot isn't going to carry a "swarm" ship very far, especially when it lacks an EPT. The z-95 is going to end up being a worse a-wing with different options. And to round that all out there really is no rebel character that would give anything to a swarm. I don't think we are adding up to anything all that exciting. why do we think they need to throw out card expansions as part of a wave? they are producing large ships that they stated would not effect wave 4. why not just release card packs every month or so? that way things keep feeling fresh and new, and we are not waiting for the end of time to get some new miniatures. besides, as hard as it is to find an F'n y-wing (still have yet to acquire 1) that lack of any ships in any wave release would be sad to me. the more ships they offer, the better chance i have of picking up a ship that someone else does not want. If they want to put them out between waves I would be extremely into that. Frankly I just want them, enough that I would be happy to wait longer for ships, but if we get them and ships on a continue schedule I would be extremely happy. -

I really just want wave 4 to be card expansions... Lets hold off one more wave before we throw out any more EU ships (which I am excited about, don't get me wrong). But it would be so awesome if we got some new pilots for all of the existing ships. I know some are coming with the transport but it would be great to have some more options on ships like the Tie Advanced and Interceptor, or the y-wing or a-wing. -
Colonel Jendon and Ships without Target Lock

I'm not sure I agree. If you drop your target lock on any ship, then the restrictions might apply so you would have to reaquire him? Though this may not be fully correct. I double checked the FAQ because I thought there might be a relevant ruling to base off of and I got this. I feel like there is another rule/ruling somewhere else that also states something similar about not being able to target lock a ship you've already target locked. Q: If a ship already has a lock on an enemy ship, can the locking ship acquire a target lock again on the same enemy ship in order to trigger an effect (such as “Dutch” Vander)? A: No. -
Wave 3 is Shipping! Expected September 13th

If FFG has a street date then they have a funny way of implementing it. I would mostly expect the differences in deliver time has to do largely with distributors and the location of where you are purchasing from. I hope that the 13th holds true for me here in Canada, I'll be buying from a major store so I would expect it will be that date or sooner but I suppose you never know. I just hope that they come in with enough time for me to pick them up before I go on vacation. It would be nice to not have to wait until after I get back. -

Actually speaking of the weapon engineer and target locks how does that interact with Kagi? The ship would be forced to target lock Kagi with the first lock and then it would no longer be able to target lock him so it would be able to use the second lock on someone else. Does that seem right? Actually by that logic if a ship target locks him then the next turn they could freely target lock whoever they want because you can't assign a target lock to a ship you have already put a token onto. -

Distributors are already reporting that Wave 3 is sold through... so whatever your store gets initially... that's it. Buy as soon as you can; don't wait. Thats frustrating to hear. The store that I'll be buying from doesn't do pre-orders so I'm going to have to hit the store as soon as i get a notification that they're in. Oh well I will be happy as long as I can get one of each and maybe an extra bomber and b-wing. -
Hmm this makes me want to make a set of wreckage templates. Slap it on some board and give it a trim and you have flat templates to use along with the 3d objects. I'll catalogue that in my "projects for the future" folder.

I think this the fact that there are dominant ships is true to some degree but most ships are fairly well balanced in my opinion, maybe just not ideal to spam. Hothie's worlds list last year included Vader did it not? Just because a ship didn't make it into the top 8 in one tournament doesn't make it bad (nor does a ship making is into the top 8 make it good). I think most of it just has to do with what is in vogue at any given time. Sorry I thought we were talking within the contex of the 2013 gencon. I never mentioned anything about any ship being imbalaced. I guess what I should have said was over represented instead of dominant. Lol fair enough I was just throwing in my two cents.

Heres Hothie's battle report. I think they talked about the top to lists starting on page 3 but reading through the whole thing is worth while. Ok so squad revamp is proving harder to me than I though... I really like the loadout of both Kyle and Ibtisam and I'm not sure how what to do with Garvin that makes proper use of the points I have left over. I could drop determination on Kyle to have R2d2 and an engine upgrade on Garvin which I think would fit, but I really don't want to drop determination off of kyle. I could alternatively put an adv torp on Garvin but I feel that trying to play into range one with an x-wing that has no movement tricks will be kind of blunt. Alternatively I can leave Garvin mostly bare and put a system on Ibtisam. Any thoughts or advice?

Hey folks, So I was thinking about the Garvin/Kyle focus factory combo and how best to build a squad out of it. I think I've found something but I was curious what people thought. Here is what I have: Kyle Katarn 32pts HWK 290 (21) Recon Specialist (3) Moldy Crow (3) Blaster Turret (4) Determination (1) Garvin Dreis 33pts x-wing (26) r2 astromech (1) expert handling (2) proton torpedo (4) Ibtisam 35pts b-wing (28) engine upgrade (4) Push the Limitis (3) Ok so I'm sure people understand the interactions of Kyle (and all of his equipment) and Garvin so I won't go into it too much but going pilot by pilot: Kyle is built to generate and camp focus and will pass it of most often to Garvin. Determination is in to help prevent the chain from being disrupted, and the blaster turret is to help give Kyle punch in the game. I feel like his role is pretty simple and straight forward. Garvin is in the list to chain the focus. Aside from that I decided I want to try to increase his manoeuvrability so I threw on EH for he barrel roll and an r2 to deal with the stress. The torp is in the list mostly because I had points left over, but it shouldn't be hard for Garven to shoot the torp with a focus and a TL so he will basically get one 5 die marksmanship shot. Finally Ibtisam. I am loving her, I ran her once with the current load out and fell hard. Basically she is just the other end of the chain. She has a wide range of possible movements that allow her to get in close for big hits, and with ptl and the chain she will be able to have a focus and activate 2 other actions when I want/need. I think this gives her a lot of potential. For the squad as a whole the base synergy is obvious and simple, but it chains up as far as 5 range (between kyle rng 3 and Garvin rng 2) which means the squad really isn't chained together that much leaving them mostly free to manoeuvre. There is a reasonable amount of damage that can be put out in this list and with the action efficiency I should be making the most of my dice. The pilots are all PS 6 which means I can always fly in the order I need/want which is nice. The only real main concern to me is the lists staying power. I have 2 agi 2 ships and an agi 1 ship with 10 hull and 8 shields between them. I'll need to be eating targets fast to help this list stay alive. As a counter to this though I feel that when thinking about loosing any 1 pilot none will be a crucial loss. Kyle is obviously the worst because I loose the most action efficiency as a result but his ability to continual camp focus will help keep him alive and I would still have my 2 most offensive ships on the table. If I loose Garvin a gun has been lost and this is the smallest hurdle I can face. If I loose ibtisam my focus chain becomes more efficient as Kyle will keep getting his focus back allowing him to build his camp more easily. If I get down to any 1 ship left then they are for the most part reasonably self sufficient. Over all I am really raring to give this list a try. I definitely think there is room to tweak but I am unsure what goes in and what comes out at this point. I'm curious to hear what people think this list could use. Thanks!

So I feel like a big question now is, what magic can really be worked in the Kyle/Garvin Factory? Do we have some really solid combo we can plop on these two that means they will be really effective in their own right? or do we plop them down into a combo with someone like wedge or ibtisam? Mostly I'm just thinking, now that Garvin doesn't need to generate that focus himself what kind of upgrades can take most advantage of that free action. Also I saw someone throw Jan Ors' extra die onto Nunb when he was at range one and exposing. 6 dice with a target lock. After the reroll they had 2 crits, 3 hits and a focus. It was pretty brutal.
