  1. For 4 points you are probably better of with cluster missile in my opinion. They play into Jonas' ability really well and especially against any lower agility ships you will get more bang for your buck.

  2. I've finally just finished a storage solution for my x-wing minis.

I got a battlefoam PACK C4 2.0. The main pocket is made to hold 3" of foam so I have it set up with 1" of storage for tokens and bases and such, and then 2" of foam for minis. Then there is another pocket that is probably about 1.5" thick that I keep everything else in. Here are some pics....

It fits everything and it has decent potential for expansion. Eventually it may need to expand out of just this case but that definitely shouldn't be until wave 4 at least and I may even be able to get through that without needing much more.

  3. I had a version I ran with:

OGP w/ Darth Vader, HLC, Adv Sensors, Engine

4x Black Squadron Pilot w/ DtF

If you play it right you can jam the opposing squad for two rounds back to back and really pick them apart.

  4. Maybe I'm missing something but how many pegs do you need? Each ship comes with a set and you can only field so many at a time... Unless you are displaying them on their stands you should have a surplus of bases and pegs, I don't even open mine anymore.

    Mega Battles my friend.

Also some people only buy the number of ships that they really need to play the game and don't really have much in the way of spares. If thats the case it becomes easier to have a deficit of pegs.

  5. I think the shuttle can fly well but it needs an engine upgrade and advanced sensors to be anything other than a pure support ship. Once you add those upgrades I think you would be surprised by what it can do in the right hands. Theorist over on the TC blogs introduced me to the dog fighting shuttle build and it gave me a pretty good surprise. He is 2-0 in the vassal tournament with a list that features 2 sabres and a shuttle.

I've flown a list with an Omicron Group pilot equipped with vader, HLC, adv sensors, and an engine, alongside 4 black squadron pilots with draw there fire and had decent success. I killed 2 x-wings by turn 3, but had some trouble bringing down Chewie, though I ended up squeaking it out.

I'm thinking of running Kagi w/ vader, HLC, adv sensors, and an engine, alongside Fett w/ recon specialist, deadeye, slave 1, assault missile, and proton torpedo, for a tournament this weekend. We will see how it flies but I think it has some potential. Should be fun if nothing else.

Also I need to say that I think the Imperial player's manoeuvring in the last half of the game was awful... He couldn't get favourable shots off half the time and was doing some things I don't think helped him at all.

It is worth noting that the Top 4 matches ended around (if I remember right) 3am.  The tournament began at 10am, and there were 2 1-hour breaks.  15 hours is a lot of X-Wing.

Oh yeah for sure I know. I guess is more just aimed at people saying how well they were playing. They both made a lot of mistakes and obviously a large amount of that could be contributed to the time and how long they were playing. I think its still important to note that the rebel player didn't just win because his build was hard to kill, but because his opponent made some crucial mistakes.

  7. You should play in the Team Covenant Vassal tournament. It would give you a chance to square off against folks like Hothie and Sozin.

  8. I don't think you can go wrong with the novels of the Original Trilogy.  Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan wrote ESB, and Lawrence Kasdan wrote RoTJ.

As Star Wars fans, we are just going to have to deal with the likelyhood that most of the EU stuff is going to be displaced by Episodes VII-IX.  Since that is the case, it is easier for me to enjoy things that contradict "canon", like Zahn's books.  In fact, after more than 20 years of attempting to read SW novels, the only ones that I really like (and keep in my library) are the Original Trilogy, Zahn's books and Stackpole's books.

    That's just me, though.

It makes me sad that so much good writing will be nullified... but oh well. I expect that EU media placed in the Rebellion era and earlier will remain largely untouched with only some minor or bearable retcons.

I agree with everyone that Timothy Zhan's books are all excellent. I haven't read any of Stackpole's books yet but I consistently hear that they are good. I recently read "Death Star" which was a pretty interesting book that I really really enjoyed.

  9. This stuff is brilliant, its definitely inspiring me to start working on some of my own paint jobs. I do have a couple questions though, other than the video that was posted did you use any references for decals? and are you using 2 brush blending for your feathering? and finally, what varnish are you using after the dry brushes? Most varnishes I have experience with aren't great to paint over and kill the detail somewhat. Your paint jobs look really smooth.

  10. I would wait on assuming there is no large Imperial ships. Just because the rebels were the only thing that was spoiled doesn't mean its the only thing we will get. I have to say that if I was going to announce a capitol ship class and I had the options of the Tantive 4, the GR 75, and two EU Imperial ships (because lets face it, if they are going to release something reasonable its going to need to be EU), I would start with the Tantive and GR 75 and get everyone hyped about that before showing off some ships that many people won't recognize.

And personally I think the wave 3 Imperial ships are ace. They maybe just don't fit well with everyone's play style.

  11. I watched it, it was pretty good. I like getting to watch high level matches because it really gives some insight into how you can improve your game.

I do have to say though that the Team Covenant staff make little slip ups on rules all of the time. I would take any combo suggestions or rules criticism with a grain of salt and double check them before you start implementing them in your games. On the whole though what they do for the community is pretty great and the Team Covenant community has a lot of brilliant players in it.

  12. I love the Tie Advanced so much. I know it's not that great gameplay wise but I really enjoy it anyway. Though realistically the interceptor is my favourite to put on the table. I just love zipping around with all of those tricks. If the a-wing had a barrel roll it would have a special place in my heart, but alas it does not.

  13. I plan on stripping down and repainting a lot of my minis for x-wing but I personally still really appreciate that they come the way they do. Its not to have the option and be able to take my time and wait before putting the paint job I want. And really it just takes a small amount of effort to strip them.

  14.

Nice, just reserved some :)  I was looking at thecultofthenew.com, which also takes preorders, but meeplemart is down the street...

Meeplemart just put up reserve orders with the ship/release date as sept 11th.

Nice. I'll be popping in tomorrow to pick up my orders and grab a case, some sleeves, and another Tie/Ln. It really is a wondrous place to behold. I wish it was just down street, but a trip on the subway isn't so bad.

  15.

what kind of break fluid do people use? Any brands or recommendations?

Prestone is the brand I use, just their basic cheapest one.

I got it at Canadian Tire... not that it helps anyone outside of Canada, sorry!

Awesome that is very helpful! Thanks you. I assume you folks use gloves when you do this?
