  1. So I was considering working on a set of supernatural gifts in the form of talents when an idea occurred to me that made me want everyone's input. Since having an Heroic Ability is pretty powerful, it might make sense to have a character with supernatural or super heroic powers use theirs as a gateway to spending on talents with a "Super" tag. Each level of Heroic Ability would grant the character the ability to increase their XP expenditure on the talents. I think it would be a decent way to balance a pure-human character in a party with those with super powers. Any thoughts, concerns, or suggestions?

It is evocative. Would musket have the same familiarity?

Just a thought. If the rifle is smooth bored, doesn't that make it something besides a rifle?
  4. Looks good, but I'm not sure I would have included all of that data from ROT.
  5. Not really too harsh, despairs are supposed to create new possibilities for the narrative and create consequences. Just tell the player in a setting that incorporates that house rule BEFORE they purchase it.
  6. Are the player characters kaiju or just citizens of the beleaguered city? If they are all kaiju, I would use normal rules for them and their opponents (with the appropriate massive narrative descriptions for their actions and attacks) and keep them at personal scale. If an attack fails, oops there goes a skyscraper. Also, think about city blocks and buildings having stat blocks. It would require creating less powerful vehicles, but you should be able to keep everything low rating and keep it fun. Just remember to make vehicles into minions and have personal scale as well. If you are planning on the characters being humans, I think I would use vehicle rules for the kaiju with a generous helping of armor and "hull threshold".
  7. Thank you. I wasn't sure if it was on your radar or interests. So far I quite like the design and the ease of use of your system.
  8. I understand that this is not the concept you are working on, but are you considering having the ability to create an NPC stat block? I would think it would use the same data you have already implemented, just in a slimmed down form. I found that to be the most helpful part of Oggdude's wonderful StarWars software.

  10. Why not create a tier of talents that specifically relate to injury inflicted by magic spells? That way you still have the inborn ability reflected as well as a way to express training of that potential? - Edit: Sigh. Kind of what Simon Retold just posted.
  11. I like to think of magic attacks as a ranged version of brawling (fists & kicks) and using a magical implement as picking up a pistol or rifle.
  12. Sounds quite a bit like the concept of Rifts by Palladium games. You may want to look into that RPG series for ideas you can liberally borrow. Edit - Well, except for the lack of high technology mind you.
  13. Is their Arkham series a license or an in-house property? If in-house it may very well be what they use for urban-fantasy. I am hoping for a super hero setting sooner my self, but I fear that it will be one of their last books (if they elect to do one).
  14. It has been a while since I have been on the forums, mostly a lack of gaming, young child, and other responsibilities. I just purchased Genesys when I realized that it existed along with Terrinoth and I think I will be making some new blog entries when inspiration strikes. Since a lot of you may not be familiar with these entries, I am going to re-post the articles here for you. They were designed for Edge of the Empire, et al, but I see no reason a GM couldn't use them directly for a science fiction game. Or frankly any other setting with a bit of detail swapping. Star Systems Vehicles & Starships Cinematic Warfare Mass Warfare (Alternative to FFG's system) Locations I hope you enjoy them, and happy gaming!
  15. I think you are thinking about Hexographer forgottenlore. Its good for quick simple maps, but not as pretty as something like CC or that inkarnate that was shown above.
