  1. Hum, curious? When Aces hits and Royal Guard Tie title comes into play.. would it be possible to take 2 shield upgrades, or are you restricted to one type? like a shield and stealth, ect, ect.
  2. We've all just taken our first step into a larger world!
  3. TomasB, The reason the Rebs lost so badly at Hoth is because they didn't have any armor assests such as Tanks to deal with the AT-AT's. even their snow speeder(T-47) weapons were useless. And they didn't use any X-wings, or Y-wings for ground support. And as you saw in a scene from ESB where they use a large energy based artillery piece on an AT-AT's foot, which did nothing to the walker. You can't hold a ridgeline with limited numbers of Infantry, armed with small arms and expect to win the battle.
  4. Umm WTF... 30 points for it to field, and with slicer tool, Jammer, and that other upgrade card, Imperials cant win. taking stress off of reb fighters, while all the while the possibility of damaging Imperial fighters that are stressed, and being able to stress them if they are in the 2-3 range.
  5. The build was a sound one the problem you ran into was three ion turrets. Or as I like to call them "imperial Bane" turrets. They wreak Imperial builds buy making you an easy target, plus B-wings down right nasty firepower. Adding defense to your ties in the form of Stealth devices might reduce the number of Ion hits your squadron takes. Also in games where you know you might be running across more than one ion turret/cannon a Stealth/Push the Limit combo is in order for that evade token plus focus for defense. Or atleast that's how I try to deal with Ion Rebs.
  6. For me, depends on perspective. Firespray-31 Not Imperial. Mercenary, or Bounty hunter "We don't need their sum" Or Lambda Shuttle, Imperial used as VIP transportation, or fighter gunship support. Shuttle: "Command station this is ST 321 code clearance Blue. We're starting our approach. Deactivate the Security shield". Death Star Control: "The security deflector shield will be deactivated when we have confirmation of your code transmission. Standby... You are clear to proceed". Shuttle: "we are starting our approach."

I Quote Blain from the movie Predator.. "What the f*ck?"
  8. 8 Tie Swarms for me usually have me breaking my formation into 2 flights of four ships and setting up in the flanks. Then When the Reb player deploys, if they have spilt their forces having one flight use the Tie speed to re-enforce the other flight, and wreak Rebs in detail. It doesn't always work. Dice gods and all.
  9. Reminds me of my last game. It was a 4 person 200 point per side match. My partner and I ran Imerials: Partners list: Vader Winged Gundark Backstabber Mauler Mithil And one more I forget, Vader had Sqaud leader My list: Howlrunner Dark Curse Academy Tie X5 Howl had Stealth Device and Push The Limit Rebs: Luke/ R2-D2/draw their fire Ten Numb/ Autoblasters/ Horton Salm/Ion turret Reb2 Han Solo/Gunner/Push the Limit/Mil Falc title Rookie X-wings x2 Sorry in advance I don't recall everything my opponents ran on their ships The Game shifted back and forth, Imperials had early success when Luke fly right in front of 6 ties and got vaporized. Then the B-wing took several shield damage, it was looking like a decisive Imperial Vic, then it changed. Vader's named tie escort started to drop like fly's, not before finally wiping out the rookie X-wings and doing alittle damage to Han's "Shoots all day" falcon, I'll add that in the first several rounds the player rolling for those rookie X's rolled 2 evades everytime. Evenutally the game came down to Howlrunner who survived a point blank autobalster gun run when Ten Numb wiffed the roll, Ten Numb, Vader, Dark Curse, and Horton. With the win going to Vader, and Howlrunner. It was a crazy game.
  10. At my local Gaming club the people I tend to play against always have named pilots in their lists. That's a large part of the Rebel ships power is their named pilots. I too run named Imperials, but I do from time to time run Black, Saber, Obsidian, ect. Squadrons for thematic purposes.
  11. I tend to not use push the limit on Turr, I have used V.I. on him, but only when I was building an elite Ship build Fel, Turr, and Vader. I have found that Daredevil is actually pretty basterdly on Interceptors. At close range hard one in, then Daredevil to hard one again. Granted you will get a stress from that, but I tend to agree with the idea that by the time you close to point blank distance with the Rebs, or traitor's Imperials you'll be using a lot more greens to clear the stess.

Here's to hoping you serve the Empire, and not the Rebel scum!
  13. Rebel: Han Solo YT-1300 (46) Draw Their Fire (1) Chewbacca (4) Gunner (5) Millennium Falcon title (1) Rookie X-wing x2 (42) 99 points. Imperial: Boba Fett Firespray-31 (39) Heavy Laser cannon (7) Gunner (5) Saber Sqaudron Tie Interceptors x2 (42) Stealth Device x2 (6) 99 points Both lists will have a named "big" ship, and a couple smaller fighters to get used to. Not a lot of ships to move around till you get used to the game. Most people will probably tell you to load out on Tie fighters, yes you can field a large number. However, I would get used to flying with a smaller number of ships, once you go down the tie "Swarm" path forever will it dominate your destiny. Just my two cents.
  14. Imperial: Saber squadron Tie Interceptor x2 PTL x2 Stealth Device x2 Point total: 54
  15. For me Shuttles are mostly a Bomber support asset, and you have to take Colonel Jendon for target lock hand off. Otherwise, I would use Captain Yorr to take a couple stress tokens off my Saber Squadron Interceptors after K-turning.

    Help!

Blue thunder: Rookie X-wing x2 Blue Squad B-wing with Heavy Laser Cannon x2
  17. By putting one with the A-wings you lose the speed of the A-wings if you are using the B-wing for fire support. The A-wings will outpace your B-wing leaving it alone to be picked off. A good Imperial will ignore A-wings unless they have missiles, and B-wings are priority targets.
  18. Yeah man, we play every Thursday at the local game shop New game In Town, Oneway.
  19. I ran 4 sabers with V.I. and Stealth devices for 100 points tonight... Opponent ran Luke with R2-D2, draw their fire. Ten Numb with autobalster and Horton with Ion turret. It came down to one of my Sabers and Luke, both pretty mangled. Luke got the lucky range two shot due to me dial miscalculation and my horrid defense dice at the end. So, Am I going to stick to Interceptors? LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!
  20. I kind of like the idea of the following: Howlrunner/Stealth device/PTL ( D-dice 4, plus the option for a defensive focus, and evasion token. A lot of survivability) Dark Cruse (I'm a huge fan of not letting those Rebels change those focus results) backed up by five academy Tie's total: 100 pts. 7 ships Ps skill for Imps, well it's really not going to make much difference. Most folks, I say most not all are going to run some high PS skilled Rebs, Wedge, Ten Numb, Han.. ect, ect. There will be some that run blue thunder builds of Rookie X-wings, and Blue Squad B-wings. Most Rebs will field high PS pilots nine times out of ten. So, Imps will in most cases with a swarmy Tie list be shooting last.
  21. Well... concidering the Firespray-31 was supposed to serve as Imperial Penal transport ships, until a certain Bounty hunter got his hands on one and ruined it for Imperial service I'll allow it. LOL.
  22. "Me I'm more of an Imperial fan" Truly? Then I would follow DraconPyrothayan's advice and take a Bomber. Krassis is alright... for a non-Imperial Bounty Hunter.
  23. "Fighter wings tend to be about 3 squadrons and are typically the same fighter type" In the Imperial Navy Fighter "wings" are broken down into six squadrons, where the fighter "groups" are broken down into three squadrons. And as for all of them being the same fighter type. Yes for the Empire, not so much for the Rebels. Reb groups have been known to fly mixed fighter units. And no they did not designate the blood stripe status till after the group was transferred to Interceptors.
  24. Ok, pure Awesome. I want Ace's now!
  25. To accurately recreate the 181st outside a major engagement where the entire the fighter group would participate, would be broken down into 3 squadrons. 1/181st: Commanded by Soontir Fel. Wingman: Fel's Wrath. 2/181st: Commaned by Turr Phennir. Wingman: Unsure, so Saber Squadron pilot works. 3/181st: Commander I believe went unnamed. Though the third squadron in the group had the least experienced pilots. Meaning when Ace's comes out Lieutenant Lorrir would be a good assumption for 3/181st. Though according to cannon, he never actually commanded any of the squadrons. In fact he was only with the fighter group for a short time.
