  1. New Game in Town located in De Kalb ( 2 hours outside Chicago) has X-wings players nearly every thursday night.
  2. Looking at Turr and Fel in game, I tend to like Turr more than Fel . Turr's ability allows for a slightly weaker built in PtL, because let's be honest... if your not using PtL for Boost and barrel roll.. you're using Squints wrong. Yes, That focus is nice to have from Fel after stressing, but it's not a sure thing. you can still roll blanks and be left with a token that is worthless, where as using both barrel roll and boost in MOST cases will see you are not in more than maybe one arc if done correctly. And with autothrusters on the way, pending on the range of the attack, it just became that much easier to dodge incoming fire. Don't mis-understand me. I like Fel a lot, and all my squad builds include him, but I'm left wondering... is Turr is the better choice? What do you all think?
  3. Love the Blood Angel in the back ground
  4. I don't know about Turr needing V.I. over PTL. You can move Turr then focus... attack, perform boost or barrel roll. PTL to perform boost or barrel roll. Giving him focus for attack and still managing to avoid firong arcs on most ships.
  5. I too would tell you to get one Tie Fighter Expansion pack for the pilots, though in the current Meta. Howlrunner is not so much a need with the Predator upgrade card as long as your flying Black Squadron Ties. Yes the Statement "squints" (Interceptors) get the glory, but Ties win the war is true because you can field so many more of them. But there's just something about Soontir Fel and the rest of the 181st that gets the blood "stripes" pumpin. Getting the Imp Aces is a good idea, it opens you up to the Royal Guard "squints", and tons of useful upgrades for the Interceptor in general. The Defender is alright, with me it's been hit or miss, not game breaking, but also not a bad choice in a build.. if you can afford it. Phantoms, I don't have one, but have seen several games played with them. They can be nasty it upgraded and flown right, really nasty. Firespray. Good choice, shields and decent hull, not Falcon tankable, but it can hold it's own. Plus the rear firing arc makes your reb opponents remember it's there. Shuttle. I personally like them, they get a lot of hate, but I think their a solid choice. The zero maneuver can really clog up the lane if it's not anticipated, and the cheapest one is 21 points with 5 shields and 5 hull and add the Darth Vader crew card and it will start to worry your opponent.

    23 point xwing.

Rookie pilot with R2 astromech. X-wing... Nuff said, and the R2 unit making all 1-2's greens. 22 points.

    I suck at X-wing.

I feel your pain with Imperial ships, bro I do. Imps are just not as forgiving at taking damage for the most part as the Rebel Scum. Then top that off with my flying Interceptors primarily Which could lead to the most glorious victory, or one of the worst losses ever. To me, and I don't win a ton, it's not the build, or the combo's It's the dice. I have somehow in someway really angered the dice gods, and they let me know it in every game. Atleast with Rebs all your ships have shields, so rolling blanks here or there will not wreak your day. But the Imps for the most part, and Interceptors in particular... Ugh, it blows. My advice, stick it out. Form a battle plan in your mind before the game and stick to it, adapting to what your opponent does during the game. It also couldn't hurt to say a small prayer to the dice gods before either. May the Force be with you.
  8. Yup, The original release of the Core set and the X-wing ship expansions the paint used for the base coat for the X-wing was a whiter tone than the first wave re-release. Which had that darkish brown tint to it.
  9. Trying to keep Vader close to Echo may be a problem... Phantoms are loners.. they don't like being stuck to other ships that cant cloak and move like them.
  10. It Can't be an X-wing.. Or atleast not the "Model" of X-wing we remember from the original trilogy. Since the movies pick up 30 years after RoTJ, then I can see it as a more advanced modern version of the X-wing. Kinda like how the E-wing in the books was supposed to replace the X-wing.
  11. Depends actually about opportunist. Jax's text says "Can not PERFORM the Evade/focus action at range 1, or even use them" if they had them via kyle/Garvin, ect ect.". So yes, if he's at range 1, there by preventing the opponent from even taking the action, opportunist is useful.
  12. It's the 181st Fighter Group. When Fel turned it into an Elite unit it was re-organized from a wing of six squadrons to a group of three squadrons. 1/181= Commanded by Fel 2/181= Commanded by Turr 3/181= Commanded by I guess you could say Lt. Lorrir (even though it was not really stated who commanded 3/181 in anything I'v read)
  13. You made three mistakes. First, you made the list. Second, Fel flying with non-squints.. F***ing insulting. But the worst mistake. That's right, paring him with Bounty Hunters. We don't need their scum.
  14. In all honesty, Squints don't need Yorr to shed stress. Their dial is so green heavy that I would go with something like this: Fel w/ PTL+ Stealth Device (33) Carnor Jax w/ PTL+ Hull Upgrade+ Royal tie title+Shield Upgrade (36) Turr Phennir w/ PTL+ Stealth Device or V.I. Depending on how you intend to use him the latter will give you a couple extra points to play with. (31) with PTL 0r (29) with V.I. Royal Guard Tie /w PTL (25) Captain Yorr (24) IF you still want to run the shuttle. total: 149 points. If you run V.I. on Turr in place of PTL, you can add a Targeting computer to Fel with Royal guard title.
  15. If your local group has no problem with you running a list with proxy's then you can run something like this: Fel (27) w/PTL (3) Onyx squadron (32) Black Squadron Tie (14) w/ Predator (3) Black Squadron Tie (14) w/ Predator (3) at 96 points you have 4 points to play with, either giving fel a Modification, or giving the Onyx Defender an Ion cannon. If you don't have Fel and only have what's available in the Aces set, then substitute Carnor Jax for Fel
  16. Fly Imperials, we have cookies.... and Interceptors!
  17. NO Soontir.....That should be a crime!
  18. Awesome....LY bad.. I'v been on the business end of blanks... a lot.
  19. Col Vessery w/ Outmaneuver (38) Soontir Fel w/ PTL/ TC (32) Turr Phennir w/ PTL (28)
  20. Are the Imperials the "bad guys"? I mean before the Empire they were Galactic Republic pilots... which if memory serves was not evil, until Palpatine came along.
  21. PfffT, always some garbage about rebel pilots, never anything sweet like a short story about the 181st, or another Imperial squadron... sad.
  22. I always used to think the Colonel Jendon was the best Shuttle pilot, but after using Kagi, I have changed my mind. In the age where Jax can deny Rebs the use of their tokens so they TL. Kagi will reign, forcing them to TL him kinda like an Imperial Biggs in a way.
