    THE FORCE AWAKENS

The title will have some bearing on some people's perception of the film. Some might only care about what they see onscreen for the movie's brief runtime, but for others it's a package deal. There's nothing wrong with either approach. Objectively [looking outside the context of nostalgia] I always thought the title "The Empire Strikes Back" was really weak. But I've been more forgiving since Attack of the Clones, since I've realized the inspiration is similar; so few seem to remember Lucas' primary influence was turn-of-the-century pulp sci-fi. (No, I mean the other century). I'm at the point where I think the titles for all six existing films are pretty good, considering. "The Force Awakens" I can certainly deal with, but I'd still rather see it coupled with the phrases "Star Wars" and "Episode VII" and appropriate punctuation. The visual style of the logo is actually what I'm the least enthused about right now. It looks like a friggin' Powerpoint slide. Still pumped for this movie, though.
  2. Just got home from it—my brain feels like a tesseract. What an insane trip.
  3. It's not like the minutiæ of EU vs. canon are being agonized over at a conference room table by Walt Disney and his board of directors. Or..... IS IT !?!?!?!? DUN DUN DUUUUUUUNNNN! Well, if that is the case, I wish they'd concentrate their effort on greenlighting some Imperial huge ships for FFG. [Also: Zombie Walt Disney]
  4. Disney isn't going to annihilate the EU, it's just changing the approach. Their hands aren't tied by EU construct for whatever canon material is coming out in the future. That's the only real change. I mean, they've owned Star Wars for a while now and EU stuff is still being published in many different media and formats. Lucasfilm Licesning is still a thing, too. It's not like the minutiæ of EU vs. canon are being agonized over at a conference room table by Walt Disney and his board of directors.

    THE FORCE AWAKENS

I didn't like how "StarTrekIntoDarkness" was all kind of mushed together without any punctuation, so I hope that's not where this is headed. Something on such a grand scale as the Star Wars saga doesn't need that kind of brevity. So, if it's "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens", then... okay. If it's "Star Wars The Force Awakens", then no.
  6. Chris Foss also did some insane concept work for Jodorowsky's Dune.
  7. I could swear this was the same guy that broke Gary Oldman's neck and booted him off Air Force One. "Get off my plane!"
  8. IPV-1 System Patrol Craft Victory II-class Frigate Interesting official page on starwars.com for the Imperial Gozanti.
  9. Granted the N-1 might not make the core set, but I'd argue it's iconic enough (and certainly had some place in that galactic conflict) to at least be featured in the first wave of expansions. If they make a M3-A Scyk for XMG, they sure as heck can make an N-1 for a prequel game. I do agree that a Delta-7 and two vulture droids would be a good core set.
  10. What we've said here regarding a PT game is not at all out of bounds, and in no way does some arbitrary, fictional timeframe give you license to "hassle" anyone. Whatever your opinion of this forum or the game it relates to, this thread is in fact dedicated to the prequels, and you have visited it for no purpose at all except to antagonize. You are certainly the least-qualified to be making any suggestions about courtesy.
  11. I liked the PT as an adult. I was an adult when it came out, though I grew up with the OT and have always liked that too. A strong case could be made that I am not a moron, neither was I a moron in 1999. For those of you frothing, slavering OT-only purists—you are not the universal arbiters of taste. If a PT game is made, you are welcome not to purchase it. At any rate, common decency suggests you could afford those who are interested in PT the freedom to discuss their interest in a venue void of your cynical assholery. I don't think an occasional thread on the FFG forums is too much to ask. Live and let live.
  12. Long-time supporter of the separate prequel game concept. Just want to point out, again, that Disney has not indicated that they're abandoning the PT by any means [go to starwars.com and notice that about half of the images on that page are prequel-era]. They have no real reason to abandon it, the "controversy" mentioned being historically—hilariously—insignificant. There are enough people interested to make it financially viable. Here's what I think I'd like to see, borrowing the approach from the first releases of XMG: Core set: 1x Naboo N-1 Starfighter 2x Vulture Droid Wave I: Delta-7 Starfighter Scarab-class Droid Starfighter Naboo Royal Starship (large base) Star Courier/Sith Infiltrator (large base) Wave II: V-19 Torrent ARC-170 Starfighter Droid Tri-Fighter Hyena-class Droid Bomber Wave III: Eta-2 Interceptor (Jedi) Nu-class Attack Shuttle (large base) Nantex-class Territorial Defense Starfighter (Geonosian fighter) Belbullab-22 Starfighter (Grievous' heavy starfighter) Wave IV: Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing Starfighter BTL-B Y-Wing (Clone-era Y-Wing) Porax-38 Starfighter Slave I (Jango Fett paint) (large base) Ultimately there are a few huge craft that would be welcome; I'd really like to see a Pelta-class frigate and Consular-class frigate.
  13. I'm just glad this thread is back on the front page.
  14. The rumor that Disney is burying the prequels is absolute, unsubstantiated bullsh*t. The sooner you guys recognize this, the better.
  15. Hey I was at B&N the other day, paging through FFG's Age of Rebellion sourcebook. The Vigil is included in that game, as a "Vigil-class corvette". It is listed right next to the CR-90 with similar stats, like it's a direct analogue, although none of the ships' lengths were mentioned. But that definitely increases the chance that we might see the it. At this point, at least, no one can say it's just fan fiction and FFG would never use it—they already have. Also listed were a Galactic Civil War-era version of the Consular-class cruiser and the Gozanti-class cruiser, but at the time of that game (same as XWMG) both of them are considered outdated, and in use primarily by the Rebellion. The only other ship in the same range was the Empire's Lancer-class frigate, and its anti-starfighter role was mentioned. To paraphrase the Age of Rebellion sourcebook: Vigil-class corvette: Smallest of the Star Destroyer line, comparable to (although more powerful than) the CR-90 Lancer-class frigate: Used by the Empire in anti-starfighter role Consular-class cruiser: Repurposed from the Clone Wars, outdated but still current during GCW, used by Rebellion Gozanti-class cruiser: Repurposed from before the Clone Wars, outdated and used by Rebellion and Mercenaries I don't have high expectations for any particular outcome here, but seeing how FFG considers these ships, and seeing how they appreciate at least some continuity between games, it does merit some consideration.
  16. "By 'boat' do they mean a single guy walking across the world, carrying Rebel Aces?" Wait a minute, how do you know he's single? And why would that even matter?
  17. This one ? http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Tech/Beam/Beam2.html No, the larger Trek vs. Wars debate: http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Essays/
  18. Those quotes were within the context of XWMG—I still don't think anything that's been said yet has precluded the possibility of a separate, compatible game. So they want to keep XWMG in the ABY era, and the prequel-haters don't want prequel ships in tournaments. Fine with me. FFG could STILL make a Republic Starfighter game and not have upset anything.
  19. The Zeb clip really disappointed me. It has all the peril and emotional gravity of a Daffy Duck cartoon. I find that I don't much care for any of the clips featuring Zeb or Ezra. The electric slingshot really bothers me for some reason, and a few other things. TIE fighters getting poked and leaking fuel. Good grief. Don't get me wrong, I think it'll be a good show [from the perspective of mass appeal and production quality] but I'm starting to think I won't like it much except for the times there are spaceships on screen (although, really, I felt much the same way for most of Clone Wars, and at least some parts of all 6 movies). Bearing in mind that I am a Prequel Defender™, and don't really hate anything SW-related, I feel about Zeb and Ezra the same as I feel about Jar Jar, Baby Anakin, and Ewoks.
  20. stardestroyer.net settled the debate for me.

    Inertial "Dampeners"?

"Dampener" may not be preferred, but it is at least grammatically correct, and has been used in sci-fi before.
  22. Huge fan of that series, particularly of any scene with a spaceship in it. Wouldn't mind seeing just about any of 'em on the table.
