ECM could be represented by Evade action, fluff-wise. Maybe a 2 agility but named pilots can add extra Evade token or somehow shuck a TL.

Well, I wasn't exactly absent then, either. While I'm going through SWCCG, I found this interesting: TIE/SR: Power 1 Maneuver 1 X-Wing: Power 3 Maneuver 4 TIE Advanced x1: Power 2 Maneuver 2 TIE Fighter: Power 1 Maneuver 3 Y-Wing: Power 2 Maneuver 3 That definitely puts it on the lower end for maneuverability and agility. I'd keep those values low and try to compensate elsewhere.

Count me in. I've been around since the beginning. I use them in EAW as well. Where's the Rebel base? Ping! There it is. And now you have a fleet coming out of hyperspace right on top of it.

Also thought the ship design was overall pretty neat.

I thought it was great, 9/10. A lot closer to Avengers than something like Iron Man 3. Sure it had a lot of silly stuff, but it's a different quality than Michael Bay's idea of silly, and it had some emotional gravity as well—a good balance.

1. Republic-era spin-off game 2. Kasan Moor TIE/in pilot 3. Pilot/upgrade-only packs (increase flexibility, allowing Maarek on a TIE/Defender or Corran and Tycho on an X-Wing) 4. Fixing the TIE/Advanced 5. Imperial Huge Ships 6. Ground assault 7. Y-wing "Aces" Treatment Do not want to see in this game: Better Secondaries Star Destroyer [An Imperial Star Destroyer Huge Ship, specifically.)

...But this thread is about the X-Wing. Not him. What's your deal? You and I usually agree on most points throughout this forum. And up until yesterday, I've had a huge amount of respect for you. I'm not bashing JJ—(although if I was, I'd still be entitled to voice an opinion)—I'm only commenting on the design aesthetic that's inherent to his Star **** films. Starship design as it pertains to Abrams is a relevant topic to this forum, specifically this thread, and it's something that happens to be hugely important to me. I don't get the hostility, unless you've mistaken me for a flat-out JJ Abrams hater. If that is the case, you are wrong. And I half-understand, since I'm a fan of the prequel trilogy and have been dealing with that bullsh** for 15 years. Listen, I'm glad to have JJ on this film—legitimately. There are a couple of things that this X-Wing design calls up in the context of his other associated starship design, and I'm interested in having that dialogue. It's not up to you to moderate that. If you're willing to recognize the fact that I'm not a JJ hater, and you don't need to be his personal apologist; great—peace be with you. But if you still want to be hostile about it, then kindly f*** off. I'm okay with either. It's just irritating, man. I mean we've got a brand spankin' new, sexy X-Wing Starfighter just... Sitting right there. And half of us can't do anything but talk bout his other stuff. Look, I'm sorry that I irked you- it's just grating on me what we're deciding to talk about. Maybe I just mis-interpreteded your intentions- though it wasn't against you specifically. No hard feelings? Alright; I'm sorry I got a little defensive, too. The thing is I don't want to see a repeat of the beer plant ship interior on the Enterprise, so that's just... that's a thing in my mind. It was a really sour point for me in those films. The X-Wing design we're looking at really does (in my mind) tie into what we already have to go on—JJ's two other Space-Journey-War™ films. I'm not at all freaking out that he ruins or will ruin everything. I'm just not that way, and I think he was a great choice for this upcoming film, which a lot of us—let's admit it—have a huge investment in. I was a little iffy on the new X-Wing, maybe a few months out from thinking it's quite "sexy", but that will probably still happen. I agreed with Millennium Falsehood's perspective, and I know you two guys sync up a lot, so I'm sure you understand. In no way do I think that the new X-Wing sucks, or that JJ sucks, I just need to mull this design over and see a little more. Anyway, yeah. No hard feelings.

This is a post about a JJ Abrams vehicle design (though likely not his, personally) for a Star Wars movie. His other films' spacecraft designs (again likely not his) are perfectly relevant to the topic.

This. Pretty much ruined the movie for me. I was good with most of the rest of it, or let it slide at least, and I'm hopeful about VII. But the guts of the Enterprise were so mind-blowingly stupid, I just couldn't. On that note, loved the second movie and had to let a few things slide, but the bad guy ship being a giant, black Enterprise? Just... no. Please.

Slowly warming up, seconded. I'm trying to stay open minded-about it. I consider myself the world's leading authority on science-fiction aesthetic, so this is serious business.

Weekly Prequel Ship Design Thread: Eta-2 Interceptor!
aadh replied to SpikeSpiegel's topic in X-Wing
Not so sure about the cannon and I agree that TL should be replaced. Again I want to reiterate how much I'd love to see this as a separate-but-compatible game. -
Awesome, that's just what I needed. Thanks. You have the range 5 template with the magnets, then? Does that work okay?
-
Any way you could snap a shot of the transparent red? I'd probably be fine with that instead of mirrored, I'm just not sure yet.
-
Anyone have any decent photos of Applied Perspective's Mirrored Red and/or Mirrored Green templates?

What ships would you like to see in future waves?
aadh replied to Lord Master Igneus's topic in X-Wing
Fortunately the Raven's Claw isn't happening. There's no point, since the Crow is already here. We're getting the YT-2400 though. If I were Kyle, I'd have just bought another HWK. -
I really think this should be a compatible-but-separate game. If prequel ships are released for X-Wing, there will be unending wailing and gnashing of teeth from the prequel-hating crowd.

I'm 35 and grew up on the OT and still enjoyed the prequels. I would love to see a Republic-era spinoff game. There's no reason to have a Jar Jar card in that context. That would be like having a Bib Fortuna card for OT. Don't like it? Don't buy it. That's exactly what I plan to do if a TIE Hunter is ever released. I hope they don't release one, but if they do, I won't begrudge anyone who wants one. Even LESS should someone have a problem with a Republic-era game if it operates as a stand-alone, which I think is probable. -

I am hugely opposed to the TIE Hunter. I'm generally pretty forgiving of TIE variants that are based on the idea of the Empire using common modules. I would even be okay with a TIE Aggressor. But some of those designs are just too far out there, and the TIE Hunter is one of the most heinous of all. Do not want. -
Checklist of things I'd like to see, along with Rogue title cards: • Pilot packs to have pilots in alt ships, like Maarek Stele in a Defender (where he belongs) • TIE x1 love—Chardaan Refit or similar? • Y-Wing love—crew and munitions slots? • Kasan Moor! • One Imperial huge ship: Rebels-era Gozanti, an Imperial-grey Consular-class frigate, or something new from FFG

I play solo exclusively—just by being both players and making a conscious effort to be fair, without getting too hung up on fairness. It will depend on what you're looking for out of the game, but for cinematic and imaginative experience, it's been worth the $1000+ for me.

This looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and having seen quite a few shops in my time.

A Consular-class cruiser in Imperial livery (well, basically just grey) would be cool.
