From page 11 of the rulebook:
QuoteRussia takes the white Russian army figure and adds it to their figures. When figures are placed on the map in step 3 (below), Russia places the white army figure on the map as well.
Since they "add it to their figures" before anything else, I think it's pretty clear that they can rebuild it and have a limit of 7 army figures instead of the usual 6.
The description for the Spanish on page 6 of the Fame and Fortune rulebook makes this even more clear:
QuoteSpain takes the white Spanish scout figure and adds it to their figures. When figures are placed on the map, Spain places the white scout figure on the map as well. As with Russia, this increases the number of figures that Spain can have on the map at the same time.
So they're permanent buffs.

You should be able to handle the quest.
Also quick question, which quest did you get the dawn blade from?
tsc tsc tsc, go explore ...

I was impressed when I got it as I actually failed the quest that awarded it(!)
Ugh I'm so frustrated about that quest. I got cocky and went headlong into a room under sub optimal conditions. But what really screwed me was the major peril that pretty much ended the game.
I spent time in the side house trying to rescue the soldiers. I only rescued one and I could not tell what the significance of them was? I feel like I just wasted so much time. I would have cleared the fight without the major peril making me split 25 damage amongst the party.
So its because we missed 2 Guards in that quest. The timing on some of those Guards deaths are so slim, open an door and save them immediately or they die.
I missed five guards on the quest, but still succeeded in the quest itself- Ariad appeared in the final round, but I was able to finish the quest before she activated.

Not a bug so much as an oversight, but it seems that monsters can't be defeated during their activation. I came to realize this when the 39 HP Elemental Dragon was down to his last hit point and destroyed by the poison. Considering poison isn't the only way to defeat a monster during its activation, it's something you may want to consider amending in the next version.
Fame was under 50, but higher than 40. I can't remember what it was exactly. Although if that is going to be a determining factor it should be stated flat out somewhere as it doesn't have any kind of bearing in the standard game at all.The app states during the tutorial that your fame determines what kind of items you can find and buy in the shops.

I hope this will eventually be freely available to all of us to purchase soon! I guess it will be a Print On Demand add on.
Looks great.
How would a print on demand add on work with acrylic components? That seems prohibitively expensive for them to keep running.

Okay, I've been thinking about the Rune Plate problem and comparing it to other armors, and I think I've come up with a solution that allows it to keep the same basic mechanics, and only changes two things: Lower both defense dice by one step so its default is treated as a brown, and it gets a grey with a rune. This allows you to do minimal changes to the card, while still keeping it as a useful item, comparable to other items of similar cost.
Does this seem reasonable? -
You can always upload the audio clips to something like soundcloud.com and post links.
Alright, I guess that works for the time being; if FFG gives me the go ahead, I'll upload them quest by quest to BGG. For now, I'll keep Gold Digger up here for streaming as a sampling of what's done:

Greetings one and all. I recently had an idea for a fan project that I've begun, though I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it or not. I recorded readings of the flavor text from the Act I quests of Lair of the Wyrm, and would very much like to do the same with Act II, The Shadow Rune, and Labyrinth of Ruin, but first I want to make sure it's even viable. Because of this, some issues come up:
1) Is there even an audience for this? This is intended mainly for people who want to play as the overlord, but don't want to have to read the story segments aloud; everyone has different talents, and while I like to believe that oration is one of mine, I know that many people hate such things, but this shouldn't be a barrier that stops them from taking the role of overlord.
2) Is this legal? I know that FFG has gone out of their way to make sure that the quest guides are not made public; however, the readings only include the story segments, and include no information about quest setup, monster selection, special rules, or anything else of the like beyond what the story hints at.
3) How do I handle Eliza Farrow, Ariad, and Serena if I continue this project? I can't do female voices very well... I think I do well enough with Valyndra, but that's largely because I don't imagine that dragons would sound very feminine by human standards.
4) How do I upload attachments here? I see the "My Media" button which brings me to a screen where I can view my attachments, but I can't figure out how to actually add them. I'd very much like to give a sampling of what I've done thus far.

I just got my copy of Labyrinth of Ruin in the mail, and I was very excited to open it; however, there are some things I'd like to bring up (though the first isn't about LoR):
1. How do you handle reinforcements of large monsters when a figure is already on the space in question in a way that they fit on the tile? Does that mean the overlord loses their opportunity to reinforce that location for the turn? Or do you simply place them as close to the tile in question as possible?
2. While looking through the new items in Labyrinth of Ruin, I saw the new Overlord cards, Item cards, and character classes, and I felt there was a bit of power creep... Considering that all players will have access to the same expansions when playing, that's not a problem in and of itself, but there's one card in particular which really caught my eye: Rune Plate. It's a heavy armor that gives a grey die with no penalties whatsoever... On top of that, it gives +2 HP if the character has high knowledge, and the grey die is replaced with a black die if the hero has a rune equipped, making it a mage's best friend, and making them able to completely laugh at characters that don the plate mail to get the black die at the cost of having their movement reduced to 3... On top of this, the card only costs 175 gold- a lot less than Scalemail (slightly inferior to Rune Plate and blocks you from using runes), Plate Mail (forces you to give up movement) or Obsidian Scalemail (arguably as good as or better than Rune Plate, but costs 100 more!), and a bit less than Demonhide Armor (which has no advantages over Rune Plate regardless of who uses it). And it's an Act I card... This means that a mage (or even a non-mage who decides to use a rune, but usually a mage) can have a black defense die in Act I! To me, this seems rather overpowered, and should really be considered for some sort of nerf in the next errata release... I'd suggest it be made into an Act II card and have its price be comparable to Obsidian Scalemail, but I don't see how the former is possible with the two types of cards having different backs. Am I crazy, or is this card as overpowered as it sounds to me?
EDIT: A third question:
3) When playing the quest reward cards "Splig's Revenge" or "Twin Souls", does the new lieutenant have the damage from the character they replace carried over, or are they always brought in at full health?

Greetings one and all; I'm rather new here, and I wanted to take this chance to type up something positive... I just got finished posting rant about something I'm angry about on another site (please don't ask), and I figure what better way to get myself out of a bad mood caused by typing up all my grievances than to go somewhere else and type up why I like that somewhere so much? Now, mind you, I'm not really talking about the forums... Which isn't to say I don't like the forums, I'm just not really invested here, so I really can't say anything about them.
What I AM talking about is Fantasy Flight... This May, I decided to officially transition from video gaming to board gaming as my primary hobby, for reasons that I'll dsicuss later in this post, but suffice to say that the overall experience has been a pleasant one. I jumpstarted my collection by trading off my heroScape collection, and using that the get various games on Board Game Geek. Now, I've done many trades over the past few months, and not all games I've obtained have been through trading, but that has been how I got the majority of them.
Many of the games I've obtained- including my new favorite- are those made by Fantasy Flight... Currently, my collection of Fantasy Flight board games includes:
WarCraft: The Board Game + Expansion Set
StarCraft: The Board Game + Brood War Expansion SetSid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game + Fame and Fortune Expansion
Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures
Android: Netrunner + 2 Expansions
Descent: Journeys in the Darkness 2nd Edition + Lair of the Wyrm Expansion Set (and I'm currently in another trade which is going to end with me getting Labyrinth of Ruin!)
I've also got a good number of other games, I won't list them all, but my favorites from among them include:
Sentinels of the Multiverse
Tales of the Arabian Nights
7 Wonders
All in all, I'm loving the community, and though I do still enjoy playing new video games, I really haven't been buying many of them lately, mostly sticking to Humble Bundles and the like for my video game cravings, or simply going back to games I already had before.
In this time, I've contacted Fantasy Flight games twice for parts replacement... Both times with used games. The first time was a science vessel for StarCraft: The Board Game, which they sent me a replacement for free. The second time was a bit bigger... Android was missing a "generic counter", and the Trace Amount expansion I got was missing more than just a few cards... Twelve, to be exact. FFG not only replaced these parts, but even threw in a couple extra credit chips (a 1 and a 5) to boot, once again, didn't even charge me Now, mind you, as I already stated, I got these used- and while I do believe that companies should feel obligated to replace missing or damaged parts for new games, I think most people would agree with me when I say they don't have any obligation to do such with used games, and certainly not for free. I would have gladly paid for the parts, and even if they hadn't offered replacements at all, they still would have been within their rights. But they did it anyways- they went above and beyond being "reasonable", deciding that wasn't good enough, and reached out with what can only be described as generosity. And judging from the forums on Board Game Geek, this doesn't seem to be an isolated incident, I'm constantly hearing glowing praise for how generous they are with their parts replacement.
But more than just the act of generosity itself is what the act represented to me personally... Now, I said earlier I would mention why I've been drifting away from video games, and to put it simply: The reason I have ceased to be a fan of the video game industry at large is the very antithesis of what I am praising Fantasy Flight Games for... But now I must elaborate, as the first thing you probably think of is that someone wasn't honoring warranties or replacing damaged parts... That's not the case at all. What I am talking about is the blatant attack on private ownership and consumer rights that's been going on with video games lately. The rise of the digital format and the attempt to cut off the resale of used games is quite frankly sickening, and I'd even say comparable to theft at the very least, and possibly worse crimes... But I'll not delve any further into that tangent here, my point in this topic is not to turn this into a political soap box.
The reason I decided to switch to board games was because, quite simply, there's no real way to install DRM on them. You can't lock a board game to an account, and you can't prevent people from reselling them. But this in and of itself doesn't say that the companies actively respect this right, only that they are incapable fo taking it away. However, when you go out of your way to help someone play a copy of your game that they acquired through secondhand means, that is actively demonstrating that you respect your customer's rights to A) trade or sell their copies of your games if they decide they no longer want them or B) to acquire said games through such means, without having to involve themselves with an official retailer. Now mind you, this does NOT mean someone whose replacement policies who aren't as generous as Fantasy Flight's doesn't respect such rights, simply that Fantasy Flight has solidly demonstrated such beyond question- and as someone who was driven away from a hobby by seeing those same rights taken away, that really means a lot to me.
On top of that, I really enjoy the games that I've tried so far; I'd even go so far as to say that Descent 2.0 is currently my favorite game, and Civilization certainly is among my favorites as well (coming from a longtime fan of the series who was severely disappointed with V), and I'd really like to try out my copy of StarCraft sometime. I'm eagerly looking forward to recieving my copy of Labyrinth of Ruin (hopefully it'll arrive within the week), and I certainly intend to get the Trollfens sometime, and probably the Lt Minis as well... Plus, I know my younger sister (who plays the Overlord in my current Descent campaign) has mentioned an interest in the Lord of the Rings LCG, so I'll probably try and pick up a copy of the base set for her come Christmas (which will probably be how I end up getting Trollens myself). Actually, I'd say that more than any new games, I currently want the expansions offered for your games (alongside Sentinels whenever Vengance releases...)
Now, that's not to say you guys are perfect(you guys serious need to work on your packaging inserts), everyone has their flaws, but regardless of those shortcomings, Fantasy Flight Games has quickly become my favorite company in the hobby, and I look forward to giving you more business in the future.
So, to sum things up, thank you. Thank you for making great games, and thank you for going out of your way to show not merely respect towards your customers, but generosity as well.
Sincerely,
Adam "MarioFanaticXV" Butler

Ah, thank you, I missed that.

Hello everyone; I'm quite excited about getting my copy of Descent which should come in tomorrow; I've been reading the rules PDF, reading the forums both here and on Board Game Geek, and watched the videos that WatchItPlayed posted of the game on YouTube. However, equipment has me a little confused, and I can't seem to find the answers to my questions anywhere:
1) How do you indicate which pieces of equipment are equipped and which are not?2) Is there any way for the heroes to change out their equipment mid-encounter?

I'm getting my copy of Descent tomorrow, and I've been fiddling around witht he quest editor. I've found two problems:
1) There seems to be no way to delete a quest.2) Often times when I zoom in or out, I'll be unable to select map tiles, and instead it will just drag the entire map as though I clicked on an empty area. This bug seems to persist until I refresh and clear my cache.

I found a list on BGG and converted it to be more easily readable when I was making my TTS mod of the game:
