  1. Ok, I think that clears it up.

So in other words, Han allows a re-roll of attack dice (unless they have been re-rolled already), but you must re-roll all of them, even the ones with hit/critical results if any.

    Am I understanding this right?

  2. yep, the game is just selling unexpectedly well, my FLGS is preordering a bunch of all the ships since our gaming club dive all the way into the game

It comes down to FF not having a crystal ball and being able to see that this one game….out of all their games….would put them in the 2nd place of top selling miniature game companies in just a few months.  BTW they knocked PP out of 2nd, and they have been in the mini game market for years.

I'm curious about the miniature game company ranking part, I did a quick internet search and couldn't find something on this regard, I would really appreciate if you could share a link to where to see this

  3. that's good to know.

I just bought my first set about a month ago and the second last week and I'm very happy with the quality of the models, I guess as the game gains popularity it becomes easier to FFG to apply more resources and get better quality products

  4. Interesting… I never thought on keep the 2 decks separate, I think one of the first things I did when I got my second set (1 week ago) was to shuffle both of them together, then again, my games are very casual, my group is taking this game on the light side to goof around, although within the rules of course, so the odds on the damage cards has not been that important (yet)

  5. I was curious about this so I checked the previous announcements/releases dates, so if they are consistent with what they’ve done in the past we should be expecting the release by October 2013. Check this info

    Item Announcement Release
Core Game Aug. 2011 Sep. 2012
    Wave 1 Apr. 2012 Sep. 2012
    Wave 2 Sep. 2012 Feb. 2013
    Wave 3 May. 2013

This is not an exact theory, since Wave 2 was announced the same month as Wave 1 released, which doesn't match this last announcement, however I would like to think that the 3 month difference was more due to Disney buying Star Wars rights and all that it implies

  6. I'm very fortuante to have a war-gaming group, yesterday I brought the X-wing game with me and run lots of demos, it was a success, even a few of them bought their own ships and we close with a nice 70point game

  7. Great advice everyone! Thanks a lot

My second Core-set is on its way, then when I get some more experience (money) I’ll start getting the expansion packs, then the decision will be tough, Vader, Wedge, YT-1300, all of them attractive options, I guess the plan will be to add two small expansion at a time and a big one by itself.

Also, it was reassuring read Cid_MCDP point about the game being balance and that you can actually make a cool lists with core models or any ships for that matter and without the restriction of overpowered units and still be competitive, who knows… maybe sometime down the road I’d try the Tournament environment.

As you know I’m a vet minis wargamer and I’ve been screwed by impulse buying more than once so I’m glad this is helping to other new players too

  8. Thanks Sprolly G, that’s exactly why I was thinking to buy the expansions in first place, however for a beginner on this game like myself, an investment of $40 for another core set seems more practical versus $45 for 3 expansion ships; I have the feeling that the cards available on the core set could be a very entertaining start point, then later I could go for the expansions one at a time and add variables to the game experience

  9. I’m not really sure how the torpedoes work on the game (just few games played so far), but with the old X-Wing PC games in reference, I would think that the term “bomber” would apply the ability to shoot (delivery ordinance payload - nimdabew) from far the standard primary weapon range, probably an attack that would be resolved a round after it was shoot (to simulate the slow advance of the torpedo) as long as the “bomber” keeps a Target Lock action active, maybe allowing the firer two blue Target Lock tokens, I think that would give the “bombers” an edge to balance their lack of speed and maneuverability and a reason to actually add it to the list

  10. Great, thanks a lot to all, I didn’t even considered the idea of the two core sets until after I read your answers, you’re right 3 ships for $40 is a no-brainer and in top of that I get additional accessories, I was getting ready to buy three expansion ships (very dumb of me atontado) and now I have $5 to spare, I’m really happy I asked first and didn’t go for the impulse buy.

I already got my hobby club buddies excited with the game and it looks like there are going to be a few sets to play in our gaming room while I get my second set for home playing with my wife, who is awesome for letting me play and sometimes play with me these games, she also really liked the X-Wing game

  11. Hello everyone

I just bought the Core Box-set this past weekend, played quite a few games and missions and I’m very excited about it. I’m a miniatures war-gaming Veteran, WHFB, 40K, FoW, WM/H, you name it and probably I have played it, but this game feels very different and dynamic, I really love it.

The thing is that as you may guess, just like for any other war-gamer, budget is the limit and I’m trying to figure out what would be the best route to expand the game; my first impulse is to get another X-Wing and a couple TIE Fighters, but I’m wondering if it would be better to go for something else to give another flavor to the experience.

I guess that there are more than a few X-Wing experienced players here that if they had the chance to start over again, they might do something different and I would really appreciate if you could share your thoughts on this.

Just as a background, at the moment I’m not aiming for the tournament arena, I’m looking more for a layback game that I can play with friends on Sat nights, having a good fun time.

Thanks all and hope I can be around the board to exchange experiences.
