  6. You're evil my friend yes... yes... let hobby flow through you... I think the Falcon it's a good intro ship, probably the most visually appealing of all (best hook to bite), for all the reasons mentioned on previous posts, it lets a new player experience a glimpse of the game mechanics just as well as any other ship, but it is up to the person running the intro-game to stress on the importance of arc of fire and whatever other game basic aspect, all can be teach with the Falcon just as easy. Now if a new player comes to me and asks for help to run his/hers first full games most likely I would use the core-set ships, then again if it is the Falcon what they want to use, I'd be more than happy to adjust and do my best to make an enjoying game and lend a hand with the learning curve.
  7. LOL great cartoon VanorDM, nothing more accurate do you have a link for your cartoon collection? I would like to share it with my club buddies going back to topic, My story is pretty much the same, but my friends and I still play lots of Flames of War besides of also lots of X-Wing; I think FFG just gave us the perfect combination of simple rule set and game depth, it would be hypocrite of me to say that painted models isn't a plus however since I love so much building and painting I can't help keep out of my mind the idea to do my own re-paints. and if all that weren't enough X-wing brings so many childhood memories that feel so right

    just amazing work!
  11. this whole thread is genius! Enjoying a lot Rakky's lessons Thanks
  12. not really an inside info, but I would assume that all the ships will be available by Christmas time, that's a big sale in many parts of the world where X-Wing is big and I'm sure FFG wouldn't want to miss that oportunity for business
  13. Hello everyone… my name is Rod and I’m an X-Wingalcoholic I also have lots of stuff already, funny thing is that I started for free, the first box set I got it as a prize for a W40K tournament (funny how things turned out). Anyway, I see it more as entertainment time/cost relation and when I compare it with something like Movies, X-Wing wins every time, let’s put it in numbers. movie theatre tickets (lets go with IMAX) $18 large Soda and popcorn ~ $12 That’s $30 bucks for 2-3 hours of fun going alone and that’s it For those same $30 I can buy two expansion sets, that I’ll use maybe in 20~30 games let’s say 1 hour each Don’t get me wrong I love going to the movies and will keep going, but X-Wing is not even close to the top of the entertainment costs
  14. Hey Everyone, I just tought it might be a good idea to post about our gaming club in New Milford, CT; we get toguether mostly on weekends, below the links to our website and forum Web: http://www.ordo-ineptus.net/ Forum: http://ordo-ineptus.proboards.com/ Hope to see any new faces around soon.
  15. I know it's quite far, but we have a gaming club in New Milford, CT we get toguether mostly on weekends, below are the club's forum link http://ordo-ineptus.proboards.com/
  16. Nice touch painting the rim blue around cockpit, I'll have to copy that
  17. it could be instead of shooting I think what I like the most of this game is its simplicity, now with all pilots, skills, modifications, crews, secondary weapons, etc, I’m afraid it is moving towards to become another Warmachine that I actually dropped because it was too much homework to play (maybe I’m just being lazy) anyway, I believe the Cinematic Play mode it is exactly what we’re discussing in this thread and the objective FFG is aiming for is to keep it fresh
  18. Now you did it… you put my hobby gears to work… I think I’ll magnetized everything when I get my B-wings (peg and cockpit), it’s just matter of being very careful and steady hand to make the cuts (that’s the difficult part) then I’d just drill small holes to add the magnets
  19. Since FFG has already added a ship from a video game (HWK-290), I would love to see next the Otana from the X-Wing Alliance videogame, I have the feeling it would be a nice fit in the game And on the empire side the Assault Gunboat also would be really cool to have
  20. well, I had a very good relation with my FLGS (little bit more than just I give him money and he feeds my hobbies) so he called me yesterday to let me know that he has now in stock A-Wings and TIE Interceptors (couldn't resist and already ask him to reserve one of each for me) but I'm really saving my "allowance" for the B-Wings I want those really badly, don't even care if they turn out to be bad in game terms
  21. very nice, I've been thinking to do the same, in my club we have already more than a few players (fortunately) and I need a way to tell wich ships are mine (I guess is just a little OCD)
  22. @Buhallin With all due respect, I don’t think your interpretation of the Dark Curse rule is correct, going by what you have explained the rule is affective on or after the 4th combat phase however by that point the attacker cannot modify his roll at all, that already was supposed to happen on phase 3; remember that all combat phases have to be resolve in order, (no backsies) The interpretation imho refers to the fact that Dark Curse is being attack, hence his ability applies on combat phase 3, in that way no matter which pilot, weapon or crew the attacker is using it will be limited to modify his attack by not spending focus tokens or reroll attack dice.

very nice project, thanks for sharing I'll be chicking this out for sure!
  24. very well executed! I couldn’t really tell where the cuts were done until I saw it on your blog, removing the access corridor to the cockpit was a good call, it gives a lot of symmetry to the final conversion. For a minute I thought you have done a conversion for the YT-2000 Otana, but after I search on-line I realized that the Otana would require lot more work than what you have already done. Sweet conversion!
