That is possible, we won't know until those models are released. As I said, right now we have a ruling and no practical feedback. Until we do we are all just speculating on how this will change competitive play.

The fine folks at FFG OP facebook provided clarification. If you receive a bye/concession that would result in you receiving an MoV score based on your average MoV it would not be calculated for that round until The end of Swiss rounds.
Essentially, MoV only matters when determining top cut or final placing at end of the tournament if there is no top cut

Totally off topic but I think this can be attributed to modern war games trying to emulate video games instead of either A) telling a story or B) emulating actual warfare. Historical wargaming is obviously doing both of these while competitive wargaming does neither.

Tried submitting this through the rules question form but got an error message upon submission, so I'm posting it here.
How do you determine MoV for the "winner" of a First Round Bye/Concession in a tournament? IS it 0% since they have no previous MoV score to average or do you retroactively determine MoV based on the average of all subsequent tournament rounds?

In my experience with FFG, they tend to make a blanket ruling, gather feedback, then modify that ruling based on the feedback. This is actually a really commendable practice. Right now the silhouette rules are in the "blanket ruling" phase and could be changed in the future based on feedback from actual use. With the current worldwide-ish quarantine it will be hard to gather feedback since there aren't going to be any tournaments for at least another month (in the U.S.).
I think a potential change that may improve targetting small base trooper minis/models would be the only count parts of the model that are within the silhouette as a target. You would only need to check the silhouette if you were able to see part of the mini/model to begin with. This would eliminate the ability to shoot R2 when you can't see any part of the model and still allow for the "abstract" that models on flying bases actually land at the end of their movement. Not a perfect solution but a potential improvement.
I don't currently have any recomendation for using the silhouette for drawing LoS from a mini/model. I think that will take some actual practical feedback to see if it needs to change.

FFG just posted the v2.0 T-regs for Legion. Rules for Margin of Victory instead of Strength of Schedule, terrain guidelines for both size tables (standard and skirmish) and the Trooper mini silhouette template.

I got to play a couple Skirmish games with a Saber before the stay-at-home kicked in. That was amazing, took out an AT-ST all by itself, along with a bunch of Shoretroopers. Skirmish is pretty fun and quick playing
-
Since I didn't see anyone else mention it wanted to bring up the Skirmish rules, especially if you are thinking about playing casually. Only need a 3'x3' play area (same as X-Wing) and only 500 points instead of 800. If you decide to play "tournament" rounds it is the same length of game as a competitive X-Wing.

I agree with most here that the P1 clones were the most customizable (without additional tools) models to date and that the P2 clones were a bit of a let down after the P1s. Hopefully the ARC troopers will have a bit more part interchangeability than the P2 models.
Makes me glad that I only decided to go with 2x sets of P2s. -

Looks like a Warhammer Fantasy Vampire Counts army, but could be used for KoW also.

But I don't see a ton of light cover. I'm just asking because I play with the same people over and over and we don't seem to have a ton of light cover either. I wonder if it was an interpretation issue. We perceive things different than others, etc.
Heavy cover seems to be much more prevalent in Legion games than light cover. Makes you wonder if things like Duck & Cover, Low Profile, and Smoke would be used more often if heavy cover was harder to come by.

799/800
- Clone Captain Rex (Aggressive Tactics, Recon Intel)
- R2-D2
- Phase II Clone Troopers (Phase II Mortar Trooper, Overwatch)
- Phase II Clone Troopers (Phase II Mortar Trooper, Overwatch)
- Phase I Clone Troopers (Phase I Clone Specialist)
- Phase I Clone Troopers (DC-15 Phase I Trooper)
- Phase I Clone Troopers (DC-15 Phase I Trooper)
- Phase I Clone Troopers
- TX-130 Saber-Class Fighter Tank (Veteran Clone Pilot, TX-130 Twin Laser Turret, High-Energy Shells)
Commands:
- Call Me Captain (1)
- Ambush (1)
- Take That, Clankers! (2)
- Push (2)
- Were Not Programmed (3)
- Assault (3)
- Standing Orders (4)
My goal is to give the Tank a faceup order as much as possible with the generic command cards, which is why I didn't use any of R2's cards.
I'd rather save points by not including the Beam Cannon, and the main gun, plus HES at Range 4 is not a bad drop-off. The Clone Specialist squad will be the squad that shares tokens with the Tank via Veteran Clone Pilot, as well as being a token bank for other squads, too. The Phase II boys will Scouting Party with Rex. The Specialist and standard trooper squads will stay close to the tank, with R2 of course. The DC-15 squads will lay down more Range 4 fire.
Anyway, this is the basic starting point for me. (No, I am not going to play a Z6 lol)
What battle cards are you planning on taking or pushing for if you end up being Red player?

That seems like a reasonable explanation

Had an issue over the weekend at a Prime with the interaction between Trained in Your Jedi Arts and Inconspicuous R2. Inconspicuous reads "While a unit with the Inconspicuous keyword has at least one suppression token, when an enemy unit performs an attack, it must target another unit if able" and here is an image of the command card:

The situation was that both R2 and a BARC speeder were at range 1 of Grievous and R2 had a suppression token. There is no clear answer on if TIYJA ignores Inconspicuous and is able to attack R2 or if he must attack the BARC speeder twice, or can only attack the BARC speeder once.

7 minutes ago, Caimheul1313 said:Yes, but reading Beam:
So only the initial attack dice pool exists when the Beam weapon targets the other unit at the same time as the main gun. Only after both of those attack pools are resolved is that "attack" done, therefore at that point Beam would allow you to perform an additional attack. It's not forming the additional attack pools at the same time. Declare Additional Defenders handles attacking with different weapons (through Arsenal or having multiple miniatures with different weapons). So this would be more akin to Barrage allowing for multiple attack actions.
This may need some clarification on the Rules forum. Had a similar issue over the weekend at a Prime with the interaction between Trained in Your Jedi Arts and Inconspicuous R2. On 2/21/2020 at 10:40 AM, Caimheul1313 said:Sorry for double post, but I had a question about my reading of Beam.
So lets say there are three enemy units lined up from right to left, and I choose to attack with Sabre tank, targeting the leftmost unit with the Beam weapon and the center unit with the main weapon. Now, as far as I'm aware the initial attack pools are resolved in the order of the active players choosing, correct? So after resolving the attack with the main gun, I now resolve the attack with the Beam weapon. After resolving the Beam weapon's initial attack, I target the unit in the center with one of the generated "extra attacks." Does this lead to two suppression on the center unit, or should the additional attack been resolved as part of the same dice pool as the main weapon?
After re-reading the entry for Attack in the RRG, it appears that you would assign all the dice at the same time and only perform a single roll against a single unit. I think the way that most people resolve attacks, most likely based on the number of available dice, isn't the correct order of operations per the RRG.
To clarify, the 3rd bullet under step 3 Declare Additional Defender states
QuoteThe dice in each attack pool should be placed near the corresponding defender.
then step 4 is Roll Attack Dice

I am terrified this is going to be a train wreck. Look at the things on their whiteboard of ideas. Diversity had to be listed twice because once wasn’t good enough, and some of the ideas are just down right terrible (dinosaurs? You mean, holiday special riding creatures?)
Just read up on the authors listed in the post from @Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun directly above this one. While I'm sure these authors are passionate about the setting I am not expecting anything from them that I will find engaging or possibly even entertaining. It appears to be a smattering of YA and short story authors.
Hopefully this is just the beginning and there are plans to produce adult-level material, although I expect to be inundated with "Star Wars is for kids" posts now.ScummyRebel reacted to this -

Remember that you don't have to use the speed-2 tool when moving and you don't have to travel the entire length of the maneuver tool either. This isn't X-Wing so performing a standard move doesn't require you make it to the end of the tool.

All AAT cards just spoiled in Legion FB group courtesy of Matt Holland

In case anyone doesn't want to check FB for this info.
QuoteFor immediate release:
Legion Worlds players, as some of you may be aware, the AAT Trade Federation Battle Tank Unit Expansion release date has slipped beyond the TX-130 Saber-class Fighter Tank Unit Expansion’s date. The AAT will be coming out (in the US at least) on March 20th. While this is inside the usual 11-day limit for product legality at major events, after discussions with the designers and developers we have made the decision to allow the AAT for the World Championship in order to ensure the Separatist Alliance has the tools it was intended to have in this meta and allow greater balance with the other three factions. To better facilitate getting this unit to the tables at the World Championship, we’ve worked with Adepticon to make an exception to the usual painting requirement for the AAT. You will not need to have the AAT painted in order to use it at the event. We (FFG) will also have ample quantities of the AAT for sale at our booth at the show for players unable to acquire one in advance for any reason. Finally, we’ve fully spoiled the expansion contents in order to allow players to begin practicing and army-building using this expansion. For players that want to mock up the base to practice with, it is 150mm in diameter and the tank ends up 100mm high when assembled.
One more thing that is important to note, this legality exception applies only to the AAT expansion, and not any other Legion product available on the same day.
Additionally, we want to clear up some uncertainty around the event structure, as it has been explained in a few different ways in different places. Both heats will consist of 4 rounds, with players going 3-1 advancing to Day 2. Day 2 will be an additional four rounds with the top 4 advancing to day three. Scores and tiebreakers will not carry over between days, although the previous day’s rankings will be used for initial seeding. Day will be a 4-player single-elimination bracket.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.
Thanks,
Matt Holland

Saber is releasing this Friday along with the Phase II clones and B2 droids. AAT has been delayed to March 20th (per post in Adepticon Legion FB group regarding legality of AAT at Worlds). March 20th also appears to be release date for Republic/Separatist paint sets and Vital Assets expansion (per same Adepticon post).

Just now, RStan said:3PO just to help out the Clones even further. Seems pretty good to try and fit into Republic lists with R2. There could definitely be games where Repairing the Saber isn't ever necessary because the opponent is choosing not to shoot it and you can flexibly swap it's role to supporting the troopers token sharing power.
Then you'd probably want to run the Veteran Clone Pilot on the Saber to enable token sharing. It's only once per turn but auto-refreshes so there's that.

What is your reason for taking 3PO? For giving tokens to clone troopers?

I've used Tabletop.TO to run many, many Legion events and it works great. You can create travel/play groups to keep players getting paired against their usual opponents in the first round. Players can upload lists, which can be hidden until the day of the event. Tabletop.TO also does push notifications for table assignments as well as 2-party reporting for game results. You should use the FFG 1.1 rules.
