  1. These are awesome! Really good work on those bases.

One question though: why not have the water on the back half of the bases so the figures look like they are walking ashore towards the battle field?

  2. If the logo was huge and in the center of the mat, I'd probably agree. But it's fairly small and in a corner that you're probably not going to spend much time looking at.  You could always plop a piece of terrain down over it too. ?  All that printed terrain on it is the real problem, in my opinion.

I agree with ScummyRebel and think I will pick up a couple of the Runewars grassy field mats.

  3. 22 minutes ago, Shadows of the Future said:

I'm assuming that they're going with the red because they distributed the promo cards, and it's just something that will create a lot of confusion for people with playing Han if there are differences. I really don't want a precedent for the game that has some promos being more powerful.

Perhaps anyone who has a Leia/Veers card from Adepticon could compare it to the ones in the articles about them and see if they notice any differences and then expand to looking at the physical ones when they come.

I'm assuming that the article images were done with what amounts to prototypes

FFG has made mistakes with promo cards before. The Lord of the Rings LCG Aragorn had an incorrect threat level, for example. That's all this was.  How many people really got the promo anyway that it's going to cause mass confusion?

  4. Is the attack granted by Hands Upon the Bow considered a ranged attack? Yes, it requires a character with the ranged keyword but HUtB does not specifically call the attack "ranged" in the same way that Great Yew Bow does. If I choose Bard the Bowman for HUtB, does he apply his -2 to defense?

    Relevent card text:

    Hands Upon the Bow

Action: Exhaust a character you control with ranged to immediately declare it as an attacker (and resolve its attack) against an enemy in the staging area. It gets +1 {attack } during this attack.

    Bard the Bowman

When Bard the Bowman makes a ranged attack, the enemy he attacks gets -2 until the end of the phase.

    Great Yew Bow

Combat Action: Choose an enemy in the staging area. Exhaust Great Yew Bow and attached hero to make a ranged attack against that enemy. Declare attached hero as the attacker. No other attackers can be declared for this attack.

  5. There is a point in the finale where it tells you to check how many Boons the heroes have saved up. The results tell you what to do with a certain deployment.

If the rebels have 0 boons, the Imperial player deploys Dengar for free. If they have 1 boon, Dengar turns around and walks away. If the heroes have 2 or more boons then they actually gain Dengar as an ally they control for the rest of the mission. Since Dengar's cost is 7, that is what Union means by a 14 threat swing. When my group played the finale, the rebels had 1 boon at that point and Dengar left. It would have been nice to have him in my squad but I don't think it was game breaking by any means.

  6. As you mentioned, these rules don't come into effect until April. Regionals *have* been defined to be "Formal" events (which might make SCs relaxed, but that's just extrapolation).

That's why I was asking what the current rules say. I can't check them because FFG has already taken them off the site.

It would be nice to have a little clearer guidance as what events fall under what category.  I would view a game night kit as being "relaxed" and a store championship as somewhat more "formal."  The store championship is the first rung on the ladder to Worlds since top prize is a bye in the next level.

Formal Tournament Tier: Tournaments at this tier expect players to posses at least a minimal amount of experience. Players should be familiar with the game rules, and be prepared to exercise that knowledge to play at a reasonable pace. The focus is a friendly competitive environment.

  7. In the tournament rules that were recently posted it says that anyone in a leader role at a "formal" event is not allowed to also be a player. These leader roles include the tournament organizer and judges. However, these rules do not become effective until April 2nd and the ones that are currently still in effect have been removed from the site already and I never got around to saving a copy of them. My questions are these:

    1) Do the rules currently in effect make a distinction between what is a "formal" or "relaxed" event?   I would assume that a store championship must fall under the "formal" event category?

    2) What do the current rules say about allowing a TO to participate as a player?

I ask because a buddy of mine recently went to a small (6 player) store championship where the TO was also playing. Before the event started, everyone turned in there deck lists and the TO was verifying them. My friend was concerned because this was potentially giving that person an unfair advantage knowing what plots people are running and what other cards are included in their opponent's decks.

  8. The icon tells you what chapter pack cycle the card is from. The crown icon indicates the card is from the core set. The other icon is the pin that the Hand of the King wears to show his position. Thus, "Littlefinger" is card number 28 from the core set and "In the Name of Your King!" is card 28 of the Westeros cycle. Future cycles will have a new icon and start the numbering over at 1.

  9. We had a strange situation come up tonight that I think we ruled correctly but I wanted to confirm.

My opponent was playing Hayley Kaplan, which reads "The first time you install a card each turn, you may install another card of the same type from your grip (paying it's install cost)." She had two free MU and installed a Cache, putting the three tokens on it. Here's where it got tricky.

She wanted to trigger Hayley to install a Self-modifying Code, trashing the Cache to make room for it. Would she have the opportunity to use the paid ability on Cache to remove the tokens for credits before installing the SMC? We decided that it would not in fact work because Hayley's ability happens immediately after the first install and there would not be a paid ability window between them since it is not actually a second action. Is this correct?

  10. I have two questions regarding the side mission Constant Vigilance.

    **Spoilers**

    1) When the Imperial player intereacts with a prisoner token to push them, can the prisoner move up and down the ladders to the outpost in the middle? If so, does moving from one Rebel token to the next count as two spaces? The push rules in the RRG say "Pushing a figure requires no movement points."

    2) The fifth bullet point in the briefing says "When tracing line of sight or counting spaces to a space in the outpost, ignore walls and figures." Am I correct that this means a Nexu can use it's Pounce ability to jump up on the outpost and attack? I think this one is yes, but wanted to confirm.

  11. After a threat mission is resolved, is a new one drawn to replace it? I know you normally draw a new side mission when one is completed but the special campaign rules don't say to draw a new threat mission.  I don't think they do but something in the finale made me second guess myself.

    **SPOILER**

In the finale, at the point where it tells you to check the number of Boons the rebels have, it says if they have 2 or more Dengar joins their side as an ally.  The "or more" part is what made me think again.  The only way to earn Boons is by successfully completing the threat missions and in order to have more than 2, they would have to win three threat missions. My players are trying to choose their first side mission and I think they are leaning towards trying to get rid of my Bane rewards.

  12.

Way more than even that if you remember all the Shadows stuff.

Cough Cough KYLE KATARN Cough Cough

Is FF going to pull in non-canon stuff for new figures and expansions? I don't mean to kick off a canon debate, but I'd be more inclined to think that they'd continue to make unique characters or draw from the "official" material.

I think they will continue to pull Legends content such as the Royal Guard Champion or the HK assassin droids for example, but I don't think we'll be getting any named Legends characters such as Carnor Jax or HK-47.

That's how I expect this game will go content wise. Legends content is fair game, just no unique characters or galactic events.

The only non-canon characters we're likely to see are the FFG original characters.

FFG has shown they don't have a problem including "non-canon" characters in their games.

Dash Rendar, Jan Ors, Kyle Katarn, Ysane Isard, Prince Xizor and Guri have all appeared in X-wing, Armada, and/or the LCG. They even used a bunch of the dark Jedi from the Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight computer game in the LCG.  We may see some of them in IA too, but just as allies or villains and not heroes.

  13.

    > Crix Madine (Hero)

It's more likely he'd be an ally than a hero. So far no established characters have been heroes, only FFG created ones and I don't think that is likely to change.

I get that people want to recreate their favorite scenes from the movies, but there were lots of other places in the galaxy that saw fighting in the civil war too. Let's tell those stories. I'd rather see a whole new location created for a campaign than just another copy of one from the movies.

  14. The main characters from the movies are not meant to be played as heroes in the campaign. However, you can earn them as allies that you can bring along to fight with you if you successfully complete the appropriate side missions.

There are currently 11 heroes you can choose to play as. There are the 6 from the core set, 2 in the Twin Shadows boxed set, and 3 in the newly released Return to Hoth campaign.

  15. Completely guessing but I'd guess that it's just a matter that the online deckbuilders are just not context-sensitive enough to not count them in the total card count. This and the upcoming Alliance cards have me guessing that they're trolling the third-party deckbuilding sites just a little.

That's what I figured too. In at least one list that I saw I noticed that the total card count was exactly 45. If you didn't count the three directives that were listed then the deck only had 42 cards. I just wanted to double check before I made a comment there. I would hate to point out a mistake if it actually wasn't one.
