kinnison got a reaction from bradknowles in [SPOILERS]: Star Wars: Rebels - Thoughts?
I wouldn't doubt that a Fulcrum agent is working for Thrawn. Why else would Govoner Pryce show up with Kallus at such an opportune time, and be able to disable the TIE Fighters remotely?
And who's bright idea was it to send in a Correllian corvette so poorly crewed that it didn't fire a single shot?

kinnison got a reaction from Cilionelle in In Need of a Starship
Don't even bother with a Stock ship from the Legends and make up your own.
Here is something I just made up. Feel free to use and adjust the stats as you see fit:
Name Circumtorian CSH-545 Kyotopa-Class Shuttle "Badi Dea"
Silhouette: 4; Speed: 3; Handling: -2; Shields: 1 Forward; Armor: 3; HT: 18; SS: 9
Hull Type/Class: Shuttle/CSH-545
Manufacture: Circumtor Spaceworks
HyperDrive: Class 4/Backup Class 20
Navicomputer Yes (out of date)
Sensor Range: short
Ship's Complement: One pilot, one co-pilot
Encumbrance Capacity: 60
Passenger Capacity: 6
Consumables: 2 months (Nothing at the moment)
Cost/Rarity: (used) 30,000 credits/ R8
Customization hard points: 2
Weapons: Forward mounted Light Laser Cannon.
Flaws:
Old ship: The ship is horribly outdated, all parts are worn out and require overhauls. Upgrade the difficulty all checks to repair or upgrade the ship once. Add SETBACK to all checks. Fixing the flaw requires parts worth 50% of the ship's base cost and a Hard Mechanics check.
Lacking Integrity: The internal structure of the ship is severely weakened. Add +30 to all critical rolls. Fixing
the flaw requires parts worth 30% of the ship's base price and a Formidable Mechanics check.
Rough Ride: The ship's inertial compensators are damaged. When the ship changes speed or performs
Evasive Maneuvers each of the crew suffers 1 Strain, unless they spent their last Action bracing, Fixing the
flaw requires parts worth 10% of the ship's base cost and a Hard Mechanics check.
History: The Kyotopa class shuttle was used mostly by lower ranked Hutts to transport themselves from ship to ship/station when Docking was unfeasible. If filled the role as a short range shuttle, and tended to be a workhorse for larger capital ships. The Ship had enough room for a single Hutt, some slaves and trusted servants and bodyguards. When repulsor Technology got better that allowed larger ships to land planetside, the small "One hutt" shuttles were considered too demeaning and phased out of service.

kinnison got a reaction from Vestij Jai Galaar in help me brainstorm for my Oct 29 session
have one of the people unfrozen, go insane from carbon freezing sickness and an opportune time attack the PC
The person who buys the holster announces that he challenges Thad Cane (i assume that is one of the PCs) to a duel, and say "Without the holster you are slower then a hutt that has been gorging itself for 5 days"

an app would be nice.
Looks a lot better the n1.1, and you really should try to create a drop-down list and restrict values in the cell when entering information. Example: The silhouette can only be whole numbers from 1-10

kinnison got a reaction from Aurin in Brief Adventure Module Reviews (FFG / WEG / WotC)
Minos cluster is a setting. So a lot of my adventures so far has been introducing major NPCs for the campaign. THe Major story arc is the decline of the economy in the minos cluster, due to the lack of imperial presence, increased piracy, which has affected the clusters economy badly. which leads to the revitalizing and reorganizing the efforts of the Rebellion in the cluster. The climax will be a major battle over travnin that will destroy all the major imperial assets in the area, and cause what is left to flee to the Kathol sector and kick off the Darkstryder campaign. I have introduced pirates, other tramp freighter captains, crime bosses both old and new, disorganized acts of rebellion, and the imperials. My biggest hurdle is making the players care about the rebellion, and hate the imperials.
With celis mott treasure it was much more subtle. It is a good place to put future plot hooks. It was a spacer crate with 50k CIS credit chips, and a datapad full of historical information on Battles during the clone wars. They needed to find someone to exchange the credits, and the datapad was used to give them the clue of the last known locations of the Treasure ship that helped them in getting to cholganna. The players ended up going to IsoTech to exchange the credits and got hired by Reom as part of the deal
Debts to pay was a great adventure. It was doubly so, since my players fell for the Droid ruze that the mine was attacked by pirates, which i think is the real key to make the whole adventure work. While the players dealt with the other droids (and destroying the mines assets) the Supervisor droid and r2 unit made their escape, to continue their droid revolution

kinnison got a reaction from Sarone in Brief Adventure Module Reviews (FFG / WEG / WotC)
I am running a campaign in the Minos cluster using the Galaxy Guide 6; Tramp freighters. The Book is great with information for Tramp freighters and hauling cargo. and the Minos cluster. The "adventures" are nothing more then plot hook ideas with no meat to them or even decent plot twists.
But i did do THE TREASURE OF CELIS MOTT (from instant adventures) and had great success with it as a one off adventure, the treasure was used for a plot hook to tie into Beyond the Rim

kinnison got a reaction from HappyDaze in [SPOILERS]: Star Wars: Rebels - Thoughts?
Just saw the Episode. From what I gathered with Ezra and the AT=PT pilot is the was mind controlling him and bending the pilot to his will. mimicking what the pilot was doing. Deliberate murder IMHO of the Pilot.
But I am so glad the overpowered Phantom is destroyed. Smaller then an A-wing. As fast as a Tie Fighter. Can carry 8 plus the pilot. Droid Socket, a forward turret, and a Dorsal Laser (that can also destroy a TIE Fighter). Good riddance
And the Sith Holocron is now in possession of Bendu (voiced by Tom Baker! *nerdgasum*)... guess that was a writers fiat to avoid any problem with the Ezrea/Kanan relationship
What i did not like.. is how Ezra is able to communicate with Hera with a wrist communicator with zero Delay. Instead we could have had Kanan going "Ezra is in trouble, we need to send the fleet!"
And a promotion lieutenant commander? you mean Ezra was a Lieutenant before? Arg there are so many things wrong with this.

problem with the list.. players often don't look for a non-combat option even if they are losing.

WH40K and Warhammer were just badly done miniature rules to market miniatures.
I really REALLY wanted to get into warhammer, and sat down and figure out how much I would need to spend to get a standard army bought, then how much time and money painting them. Then i realized from some players that no one played my faction (high elves) because they dont use Magic.. or it wasn't a strong faction.... or even getting beaten by a mysterious errata published in a magazine that i never got and the rule books were never updated.

kinnison got a reaction from Currahee Chris in Jewel of Yavin advice + bid
I really would be hesitant to have players play the NPC bidders.
But there was a recent thread about this as well as a spreadsheet to help with the auction process.
The basics are that the players need to find information about the Bidders and use that information to help them convince the Bidders to increase their bid. Most of it will just boil down to a negotiation roll, or good roleplaying if your players are up to it

kinnison got a reaction from bradknowles in Playing Jawa
From the "legends" on Wookieepedia
I wont go into comparisons between Society perceptions of Jawas and Wookies because it isn't a real good comparisons. But 'Legends' is notorious in taking a major flaw of a species and 'fixing' it with an abnormal mutation or technology to circumvent it (Ralrracheen, and Voort saBinring/Piggy). A lot of players want to play wookiees and one of the flaws that is often hand waved or ignored is the fact they cannot speak Basic. The Jawa smell is another example of a flaw of a species that is ignore for the sake of playablity. It is a trend I personally don't care for. I had one player who was adamant that if there was a flaw was not in his character sheet as a GM i could not use it against him.
This is one area where I dislike the system where minor characteristics of species are ignored for the sake of simplistically and only come up with gameplay or someone with knowledge of the species outside of what is in the game.

ugh
I understand people wanting to play Jawa's as a short little thing with hoodies and covered faces. Might i suggest a Chadra-fan? Drall, or even an Ugnaught?
But you totally miss canon on how everyone perceives them as "Disgusting creatures" because of their smell, and their culture of finding scrap. Easily give them an upgrade on dfficulty or 2 setbacks on any social check with non-jawa's. Not to mention except for G-canon of them being on Raxis they were only found on Tatooine based on thier social norms of people finding them disgusting, and they being happy living in their clans
Even Luke who knew them and lived on the same planet waved his hand in front of his face in disgust because of the smell when scaring them off from his Sandspeeder

kinnison got a reaction from awayputurwpn in "Helping" others with their dice results... Order 66.
This was a good podcast to listen to. I even had my Wife who is not a gamer listen to it and it sparked a lot of good conversations. This is typical of what I considered "advanced" class in gaming in EotE. Expert class is knowing that the boost die giving you an advantage because of using the right tools and saying you managed to figure out a quicker way to work on the engines next time
As a GM I am forced a lot of the times to narrate and interpret the results for my player. and one of my players is a typical "Alpha gamer" that does a lot of what the podcast is about. "Oh that roll is a success" soon after the dice are rolled.
The best I got from this is having my wife DESCRIBE what happened with 2 advantages. Then based on the description I gave her the mechanical result.
