Another way is to use the SW: TOR method of having bits of "junk" that can be sold for pocket change.  Blaster barrels, empty credsticks, damaged holodisk, junk jewlery, Religious fetish, Collectable plastic dolls with Teräs Käsi grip.

There is nothing better when a player likes his "junk" loot so much that he starts collecting it.

I just find it amusing that in a Genre that has mostly has laser weapons, we are concerned about melee.  In the movies iirc the only melee fights involve Lightsabers, or Ewoks

I have spent 12 years in the Martial arts, Tae Kwon Do, Philipino Stick fighting, Okinawan weapons. Hitting something is a lot more different then HURTING something. to hurt something you need strength, you need that weight behind the punch, kick, slice or stab.

Speed or high agility might look good, and add a cinematic feel, but your not really going to be hurting someone much unless you are using some sort of aid to increase your damage

For my players they were trying to figure out a way to sneak into Teemo's palace.  One guy was drawing a blank, and i flipped a light side destiny for him and told him he found a helmet laying around with a face mask (a.k.a Lando's cheesy RotJ disguise)  When the characters were doing some critical slicing on a computer, they were blowing light side destiny like crazy.

honestly, LET the maurader have his fun.  I can see an encounter when he becomes a doorstop as some horde of creatures comes rushing up.  Trying to hold them off while the other characters try to figure out some puzzle or way to close the door.

it is not about defeating the PCs, but challenging them

Yes, why is it so hard to be tolerant about a FICTIONAL ALIEN RACE.  I didn't even know they were polygamist until I read this thread

I got my wife to join my SW RPG game.  She is a first time RPGer with some bad past D&D experiences.  I spent a lot of time asking her questions and trying to figure out what she wants.  Ended up having her roll up a Politico that was betrayed by her family, and is on the search for Lost jedi artifacts. Her most likely role is to be the "Face" of the group.

She really enjoyed it when she got to snuggle up to an antagonist in the game that was being foreshadowed for a later encounter.  The whole scene was a riot for the other players and almost completely derailed the adventure for the GM (ME)

Got mine today, as well as a booster box of Mini's (that i paid for).  Now have a General Grevious on a wheel bike that I will never use, as well as Jedi Master Yoda mini (that I will have to find SOME way to use as a proxy)

Did a quick skim of the book and was quite pleased by some of the added content.  Allready have some ideas for feedback

If you see the Star wars atlas map it becomes rather obvious how things are connected.  You start with the major Trade routes branching out from the core worlds to the outer rim.  then minor trade routes branch out from there.  the whole "Slice" of the Galaxy is criss-crossed with Hyperlanes that have been mapped out and checked, and rechecked.  ONly when you get off the major routes, or are in areas with known hazards to things get more then trivial.  If you want to save time, that is when you start looking at the "Maps" and start cutting corners and getting closer then is recommended to hazards.

    HAN: Proper?!

THREEPIO: It's against my programming to impersonate a deity.

I had player wanting to be a Thief/Mechanic type.   Good at fixing things but also small, overlooked and good at sneaking.  Wanted to play a Jawa, and my first reaction was "Why would you want to do that?" then it was suggested a cross between and R2 unit and a Bumblebee.  Most every Maintenance droid, or astromech droid is not known for it's sneakyness.  But I can understand some players thinking they can do anything with a droid.

    Finally suggested playing a Chadra-Fan.

We could really muck things up and have every system and planet keep time by how long someone has been ruling.  "16th year of the Emperors reign" would be the same time as "2nd year of King Lee-char of Dac" and "97th year of King fizzlebix of groat"

and then you would understand why historians have all agreed one defining history from a single event

Yea. that astrogation map is next to worthless.    in fact that is the one complaint about the adventure is the lack of useful maps to aid the GM.  Nothing more then a simple and rather pointless map of the "Hanger" on the wheel.  A really nice map of the crash site, but no detail on the base.  The final map is the only one that is really is any good out of the whole adventure.

This adventure is missing maps.  the "Star map" is laughable in it's abstraction.  The Hanger map is pointless.  The Act 2 Map is void of any details of the base. and would it have hurt to make the Ep 3 map a bit larger?  They spent all the money on a hardcover book, full color pictures, glossy paper, yet decided to skip on the maps

Besides the lack of maps i fund it rather good adventure, except the finale is rather confusing

I just reinstalled X Wing Alliance on my laptop last night.  If you look up "X-Wing Alliance on Windows 7" there will be a web site that explains how to install it so it works.  Also I ran across X-Wing Alliance upgrade, which is a group of fans re-textured a lot of ships.  The screenshots alone are worth looking at.

Obviously Weequay's and Nikto's should be included on the Hutt's staff.  I would figure out what some of the vice's this hutt has.  Jabba had a fetish for humanoid females, and liked pitting his Rancor against other creatures.

A Giant hutt sized Mud bath and steam room for a throne area.   a secret defense in the throne room could be a Chaff cloud that gets dispensed preventing blaster fire.  The Mud would make fighting difficult for the wookiee.  But to help the PCs in battle one of the "non combat" types could dislodge the Mud dispenser and start using it as an improvised weapon, hosing down friend and foe alike in the fight, to gain the upper hand.

First of all, Star Trek shields work differently depending on if you are referring to The Original Series, or the Next Gen series.  The basics of ToS is you use energy to create a barrier that absorbs hits, similar to Armor, only its gets weaker as it takes more hits, when the shields fail, you start taking damage.  In Next Gen you had "Shields down to X%" which would only deflect the energy based on what % the shields were at.

    But that is Star Trek.

In Star wars we have 2 types of shields.  Particle shields, and Ray shields.  Most star Fighters use Ray shields which have the ability to deflect energy, by angling shields you increase its ability to deflect energy.

The X-wing series of games (as much as i liked the series) does not correctly portray how the shields worked in the movies.  The shields in the X-wing games were damage sponges that could be recharged.

I read the book cover to cover and even I noticed a few typos, not enough to obfuscate, but makes me wonder on the value placed on its production.  Overall, it is a well filled out adventure, except the climax seems rather muddled.

    Episode 1

Really could have used a map for the wheel.  the only map is a rather superfluous map of the hanger.  Instead we are given some highlights of some of the seedier places to shop for supplies. Cross section map of the decks would have been nice, as well as a general location of some of the more prominent establishments.  The adventure in WEG "No Disintegrations" makes it seem like a High Roller Casino, with gambling, and gladiatorial style fights.

    Episode 2

This is the meat of the adventure, and is my favorite.  Tho again, no map of the base.  All we have is a map of the area and when the crashed ships is, and the river.  Seems like a Bethesda style adventure where you arrive in town and help out everyone's problems or try to convince people to side with you and not the competitor.

    Episode 3

The need to go to Raxus Prime seems rather forced, especially when the only resource Isotech seems to have on the planet a hidden base, and a secret, barely functional corvette.  No contingency was ever made to evacuate the base, or even defend it beyond giving people blasters.

Raxus Prime really has only appeared in one of the worst games for SW continuity, Force unleashed.  Some games are bad with messing with continuity, but I think Force Unleashed took it to a whole new level. Jawas? REALLY?  That is all you could come up with?

If i run this adventure I will probably replace the Jawas with Ugnaughts, Squibs, or a gang of broken down eclectic salvaged salvage droids.  i would have to map out the survivors base so my players have a visual reference.  and I would have to majorly overhaul the Isotech base on Raxus prime with some elements from WEG "Hideouts and Strongholds" maybe even a temperamental power generator that needs to be activated to power defensive turbolasors and a shield generator.  Have a ground battle as the imperials try to destroy the shield Generators, while attempts are made to make the Corvette flyable so they can pick up the survivors.

The finale would be the Corvette literally blasting out of the Garbage (halting the ground battle is a spectacular fashion), and then a few smuggler ships providing cover for the Corvette as it tries to escape the system.  The resources of the shipyard would have been mobilized at the time and even could include a Star Destroyer and it's fighters giving chase.

So i guess, since I didn't go to Gencon I cannot be a part of the Beta testing.

Some people have jobs that didn't let them get time off to make a pilgrimage to gencon.  it was a lot easier for me when it was in Milwaukee, but NOOOOOO.  Gencon got to big for Milwaukee, and had to move.

heck, i am closer to Minneapolis now, might stomp over there and cause a "disturbance in the force" over at FFG (KIDDING!)

I was thinking you could easily add "wingman rules" where your wingman can aid you in combat.  giving you boost die, or setback to the enemy based on his "Orders"

Kind of like how a co-pilot would work currently, but as an NPC.  Heck, even throw in an R2-unit to act as a co-pilot using the current rules.

So how have players completly screwed up weeks/days of planning only to come up with a novel idea to circumvent your planning?

I was running the "Long arm of the Hutt" and a player, who was a Female smuggler, attempted to Charm the Gand bounty hunter at the party (I even gave her a setback die on the roll) and succeded. my comment was  "Who know, I guess he is interested in female humans".  I did a cinimatic "cut and pan" to the reaction of the other guests once they started making out. The music stopped, the Geonosians all tilted thier heads the same direction, the sullesten said "That, that is just not right", and the Toydarian yelled at the top of his lungs "WHAT A PARTY, EH?" while slapping the Wookiee player on the back sending the toydarian in a spin.

This made the confritation after meeting Duke Dimmock a bit more interesting
