kinnison got a reaction from Richardbuxton in Advice for running Jewel of Yavin
Do a forum search for the jewel of Yavin, there is a lot of great advice and variations.
The best thing you can do, is make the Bidders, and main characters important to your players.
I have already introduced Aris Shen to one of my players as a former classmate while they took a class taught by Shreya Ordassa. And have already built a positive relationship with Aris and my players
Another player has had dealings with Hutts, and I will use Kathlo to further his background story and obligation
The smuggler character in my group is going to have a lot of contacts and know some of the in's and outs of the cloud city, and has already starting building a reputation as a Racer.

Your metric for what makes a Nemesis is skewed too high.

kinnison got a reaction from Vestij Jai Galaar in How long to be identified?
If the Imperials were blockading a planet, I think they would have put a ship or something out near the usually hyperlane entry point so that anyone who did hyper in they could quickly ID them, and even scan/inspect/board
Seems rather cheap to allow them to hyper out in a single round and not have to face some Imperials.
But as RAW states, transponders work at close range. The best an Imperial could get at range is a size of the ship, and it's class.

kinnison got a reaction from Richardbuxton in What do high level FaD PCs look like?
I am going to be in a game where I convinced the GM to do a one shot 1000xp characters. That is a lot of points. FR 3, and I would have had to reduce the Force powers to get a 4th. To me it feels like a high level knight with some good force powers and abilities. for about 200 more XP i could get FR 4 and would consider it a "Master level" character.

Dont bother with scaled maps of something so big. Players don't want to spend hours in the game traveling through hallways and elevator shafts. Give them a goal, give them a clue, and screen wipe to the action

kinnison reacted to bradknowles in [SPOILERS]: Star Wars: Rebels - Thoughts?
There’s a point at which retcons start stretching my willing suspension of disbelief, sometimes to the breaking point.
Sometimes, I prefer to go back and change the dialog or action in minor ways to better suit what actually developed, or I apply a different retcon that doesn’t hurt my brain so much.
For example 2, I think my preference would be for Leia to be talking about her adoptive mother, and not her birth mother — and she just got her memories a little confused. Maybe Bail Organa got re-married after his first wife died early?

Sure, we can view it like that, but it still counts as 100% canon.
Whether we like it or not.
I've grown to hate Dave Filloni over the years.

I always preferred the BFF-1 and container transport as Medium Transports to use as Prize ships. Small enough that a group could take one over. But not too big where someone would notice it

kinnison got a reaction from GroggyGolem in FULL OF SPOILERS!!! Rogue One discussion!
*sigh* You have not been reading the last few posts of mine. But this is the internet, someone will always show up to point a finger and say "YOUR WRONG" at the slightest statement taken out of context. I should say "It is possible for EVERYONE, including rebellion, and even can be done in hyperspace, literally no restriction now except maybe a dense asteroid field giving you a weaker signal"

kinnison got a reaction from bradknowles in FULL OF SPOILERS!!! Rogue One discussion!
I hardly think something as common as a Toilet compares to Faster than light communication (AKA Holonet). In the Rebellion, whether they used holes in in the ground, or sonic bidets in Refreshers, it really does not matter.
But tactically, and strategically access to The Holonet is a HUGE deal with Galaxy spanning Civil war. If we are to assume the Empire is oppressive as it is, to me it would be a great tactical benefit if they could restrict or limit faster than light communication to only the Imperial navy and forces. Most sources on wiki and others explain the idea of the Empire Restricting access to the Holonet, or limiting how others could use it. So if access is restricted or limited, how do the Rebellion get around to using it? Except for Writers to be lazy and make things easy for the characters
I certainly could see some Moisture farmer family, going to the nearest space port and paying a fee to use and official Imperial holonet transmitter to see how their son was doing in the Imperial Academy, and wish him a happy birthday. Both sides knowing that it was quite likely the Empire was Evesdropping or recording and later listening to the conversation
