    Companion Character Sheet

I have a new player that is coming into our home brew campaign with an animal companion. After a bit of discussion with my players, and the guys over at Finding The Narrative Podcast, I decided to whip up a companion character sheet. I've seen sheets for adversaries, but figured we could use one for our favorite friends/pets. Genesys Companion Character Sheet V1 https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/161MokZfoyZRtIxQpWy2kGjZdLIvZgIZkJGYVxhLeiJ4/edit?usp=sharing While I'm treating my player's companion as a rival level adversary, I included the strain stat just in case someone had need for it. I hope you guys enjoy it.

The Dice Pool Podcast - Episode List

I would personally think that would clutter up the forums, but it would get new people's attention. Hmm... I vote for keeping it here, that way when you do make a new thread, it's for something apart from the norm, like the Q&A question request, etc.

    Bombs/Grenades question

Howdy folks! I'm back again with another weapon crafting related question that I hope you can help me figure out. I was warming up to make some new types of grenades, smoke bombs, etc. In doing so, I decided to look at the examples in the CRB. (You can already see where I'm going with this) Weapon Skill Dam Crit Range Encum HP Price Rarity Special Particle Grenade Ranged (light) 6 4 Short 1 200 5 Blast 3, Concussive 1, Disorient 3, Limited Ammo 1, stun damage Clockwork Grenade Ranged (light) 8 3 Short 1 50 6 Blast 5, Burn 1, Limited Ammo 1 I'm trying to figure out how they got the costs so low. If I stat out the Clockwork Grenade, even messing with the numbers, I get a breakdown like this: Clockwork Grenade 200 Damage 8 500 Blast 5 100 Burn 1 200 Limited Ammo 1 -500 Crit 3 150 Blows up in face on despair -250 That's even with me guessing on the narrative point cited in the book about these things blowing up in your face and tweaking the Limited Ammo cost. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else stated out their own grenades/bombs? I'd love to make a variety of explosives for my players, but I don't want to over charge them (without narrative reason), or make the items too powerful.

    Bombs/Grenades question

That's also why I stopped trying to stat out the cost on the particle grenade lol

The Dice Pool Podcast - Episode List

I love this! You guys did another fantastic job with the podcast. Here I was, beginning to think I was the only one who remembered Dream Park (I got hooked on the book before I found out there was an RPG for it.) Great implementation and lovely sheet!

The Dice Pool Podcast - SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

I'd like to hear Sam's thoughts on how to price scaling weapon negative qualities in item creation, such as Limited Ammo where it works in reverse. I.E. Limited Ammo 5 is almost never an issue in most combat situations. However, Limited Ammo 1 or 2 is going to be an issue. In addition, a throwing dagger is usually going to do less damage than a double-barreled shotgun, so should the costs per rank be different depending on the damage, range, etc? I know he's answered my question via email already, but I think it would be good for discussion, especially with GM Huzz @KingNova3000 around.

    My review of Genesys rpg

I actually asked a question about the melee weapons costs and got an answer for that part at least. They said that they accidentally omitted a line that says that all melee weapon costs should be halved after final creation, to compensate for the major disadvantage of the range. I posted their answer over at the FAQ page. Though I'll admit there are still some weapon prices that don't quite add up....

    FAQ

Question: On pg 144, for the Fantasy weapons table, I was able to mentally work through the creation of the Shield listed in Table II. 1-1. However, my question is, how did you create the Sword in the same table? Since it has +3 damage, with a crit rating of 2, and the Defensive 1 seems like it would be much higher than 200. I realize costs are variable and there is a discount applied to items in Table II.1-1, but no matter what I seem to craft, I can't get the sword's cost to come close to what's listed. Answer: You’ll probably notice a similar problem with spears, maces, and other melee weapons. We accidentally omitted one line from our weapons pricing table, which is that melee and brawl weapon costs should be halved after all other calculations. This compensates them for the major limitation of not being able to be used at range. This is something we have fixed in future printings, and will be addressing in our errata. Hope this helps! Thanks for the episode. I've actually made this 'homework' for my group to listen to, since there are a lot of great suggestions throughout this episode. Not to mention Fifth Element always gets props

    Throwing Daggers/Stars, etc.

Howdy folks, I'm looking for some advise and I hope y'all can lend a hand. I'm currently working on a campaign for my wife and a friend. Our friend would like to make use of daggers and throwing daggers/stars as their primary weapons of choice. Their character is going to be an Entertainer / assassin in training. However, I'm trying to figure out how to make throwing daggers worth using in a world where there's mixed tech. They're in a post-apocalyptic type setting, so like Fallout in some respects, you're gonna have people with makeshift guns, swords, and the like. (no energy weapons). Does anyone have any suggestions how I could make this work, so that the player can stay true to the character vision without having to eventually switch to guns? Thanks in advance for any help.

    Throwing Daggers/Stars, etc.

I like that idea. It gives the feel of useful equipment items for the daggers. I really appreciate the discussion on this, guys. So what do you think about the Pierce / Vicious / Accuracy quality on the daggers like DarthGM mentioned earlier (and I spotted on the gen con sheet there)? I can see different qualities for different daggers, or at the least, that'll give our friend something to look toward to saving up for higher quality daggers in the future.

    Throwing Daggers/Stars, etc.

Nice idea! I am certainly going to make that an issue. We've come from gaming systems where we've glossed over the importance of ammo and actually purchasing/finding it, so that will certainly help. However, what do you think about damage rating/stats for throwing blades? They don't seem nearly as deadly as other weapons, though we've all seen games where they are used to great effectiveness.

Thanks for answering my question. I appreciate the RAW answer, but the whole discussion around the question was a blast too. I must admit, this system really is pushing me to grow as a GM/storyteller and I love it. Thanks again!

    Austin group?

Hello from the North Dallas area! Too bad I'm too far north, but I do hope you find a group. You should hit up the discord server (in the master list of resources) and see if you have any luck in their LFG chat.

The Dice Pool Podcast - Ask us your rule questions.

Specifically when dealing with minion groups. How would you handle a failed attack that generates enough advantages for the crit on the weapon? Would you nix the attack all together, requiring the advantages to be spent on something else? Or would you reward the crit (triggered by the advantages) and kill a different minion in the group? I.E. The player was TRYING to shoot the archer, but failed. Instead, the sheer number of advantages mean that you may have missed the archer, but the swordsman happened to walk in front of the shot at the 'wrong' time and took an arrow to the throat/knee/whatever. Would you rather save the example above only for a rolled Triumph? Btw, you guys rock!
