How can you tell if you like a game mechanic if you hadn't played it? And I won't play it because to me it's a theme breaker. I'm not a fan of mixing Sci-fi with old Fantasy.
  2. ^I tried looking for the poll option but coudn't find a way to implement one. I really want to see the Dark Elf make its entrance. They're a race featured in so many fantasy worlds under different iterations: Warhammer, Tolkien, Forgotten Realms, Marvel's Thor. I would like to see a 4th edition. As for my Elimination thread, it shouldn't really be that complicated than what it is made out to be, it's just copy the last posted list, paste it, modify the points, and post. That game has been done plenty of times on forums before with no problems, and considering we're complexed gamers I thought this would be a non-issue. More revealing if there were more active members participating. Anyway sorry for the off topic,
  3. Not excited about this at all, I'm praying for another House release for Battles of Westeros, instead we're given another card game as if there aren't enough out there especially based on Game of Thrones.

^Why not have a two part board that will fill in both gaps at either side of the main board and it can act as a portal. ex. You reach the end of gap board space A, you then teleport to the end of gap board space B.
  5. Character Spotlight Soldier Your basic human man-at-arms armed with a shield, plate armor with chainmail, and mostly carries a sword as a basic weapon. He's been featured as a character in previous editions. Often used as pawns in the medieval era. The soldier excels at hand combat, and has rigorous military training that allows him to function in a unit, structured formations, strict discipline and routines. A good soldier always follows orders and is always prepared to meet his fate on the battlefield. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Feel free to make Character Spotlights of characters that are part of the voting list and that doesn't already have a spotlight post, and is not eliminated. Post a pic or two that represents the character and give a short summary of history/backround, descriptions, etc. All in good fun.)
  6. Updated Raphaman's posting. 7. I realize this is going to be a long process, and the ball already got started rolling. Don't feel like much changing things now. Started each character with 5 points hoping it would speed things along, and I've selected once a week because these boards aren't that busy to justify once per day where it will be only the same few people voting on a daily basis. Weekly should keep people interested in visiting the site once and a while, if they care for such a thing as a forum elimination game. Yeah didn't include Timescape characters, no worries bet they'll be in a 4th edition Timescape expansion. *** Actually to prevent this from going on forever because there are so many characters and so many points involved I'm going to place a time limit: Sunday August 31st 11:59 PM will be the expiration. After that I'll just make a standings list based on points accumulated and order of characters eliminated.
  8. Corrected list. Don't forget to remove any previously written (+/-) from the post before to avoid confusion. Also Paste as plain text should help. Crusader (5) Goblin (5) Enchanter (5) Gargoyle (5) Rock Golem (5) Archangel (warrior angel) (5) Cyclops (titan) (5) Kabuki (5) Yeti (5) Lich (5) Mummy (5) Tengu (5) Harpy (4) Gorgon (5) Lizardman (5) Rakshasa (5) Succubus (5) Astronomer (5) Barbarian (5) Beastman (5) Orc (5) Centaur (5) Chaos Dwarf (5) Chaos Warrior (5) Dark Elf (6) Halfling (5) Hobgoblin (5) Inquisitor (5) Martial Artist (5) Ninja (5) Pilgrim (5) Pirate (5) Samurai (5) Saracen (5) Scout (4) Shaman (5) Skaven (5) Soldier (6) Swordsman (5) Wardancer (5) Witch Doctor (5) Zulu (5)
  9. No the list doesn't include all of the characters from previous additions, and some are from suggestions for a new character. If there are any errors in the voting of the list, I will auto correct. ex. rare occasion of two people voting at the same time.

  11. EDIT: Much easier poll on boardgame geek, click link to vote and view results: http://boardgamegeek.com/article/16037317#16037317 This is a type of forum game that most of you have seen before. The Forest expansion is coming out soon but we're still missing a lot of old characters, also there has been some great ideas for some new ones in a character suggestion thread. Here are the rules: The list of Characters below are yet to make an appearance in 4th edition, each has 5 points next to their name, once a week members vote by copying the last posted list and add 1 point to a character and subtract from another. Once a character reaches '0' he/she is eliminated. This will show which characters the community desires to see release next. Edit: To prevent this from going on forever because there are so many characters and so many points involved I'm going to place a time limit: Sunday August 31st 11:59 PM will be the expiration. After that I'll just make a standings list based on points accumulated and order of characters eliminated. 12. Someone needs to organize a forum game where the OP list the numerous amount of characters not in the game yet, and all members vote on a weekly basis one character getting (+) 1 point and another getting (-) 1 point. And it might mean something since FFG tunes into their fanbase from time to time as I've been hearing.
  13. Truth be told aren't all characters no-named characters? That's why a Medusa character would be very different unless there's a name for her kind.
  14. Glad to see the Ranger coming back in the Forest expansion, I was expecting the Woodsman but The Totem Warrior makes a better substitution. The Treeman looks very nice and a few that have recommended on this topic, and I think we're getting the Satyr maybe and some forest witch. What I want to see return are: Dark Elf Orc Samurai Ninja Pirate Centaur Barbarian Chaos Warrior Goblin (Variant) I like the ideas of: Cyclops (Titan) Viking Succubus Medusa Archangel (Warrior Angel) Rock Golem
  15. How about a small Asian themed expansion??? Bring in the Samurai and the Ninja. And new characters like Tengu, Kabuki, Chinese Sorcerer, Warrior Monk.
  16. My friends and I played our first game last night, I won by default when the last player opted out because it was getting too late. So we figured we're going to have a 3 hour time limit on every single game from now on. Once the time limit is reached whoever's on the crown of command wins, or if it is in contention between multiple players it's a win for all those players. If no one is on the crown of command, all the players are gathered up for Battle Royale alternative ending.
  17. Hi guys, just want to know if anyone came up with some good ideas on making BOW a 3+ players free for all game (no allliances). Or if there's anyone out there who is eager on collaborating on making house rules for it. I do want to make my own rules but I would like input from the community. Issues in having a 3+ player Free-For-All Determining advantage and player turn order The amount of Order Tokens issued The amount of Command Tokens issued The Morale track 1. Player Turn Order Suppose it can go clockwise starting from the person who has advantage. Only that the person who has advantage loses it in a tie during the Rally Phase to determine advantage. Though if three or more players are tied then the player who already has advantage keeps it. 2. Order Tokens received This is tricky, the BOW core set only gives 10 order tokens of each type. So unless you go out and purchase another core set or self produce more tokens, this means that in a two player game the resonable max cap on order tokens received is 4. Say you kept a green shield order token from the previous round over to the next. You roll 4 dice to determine order tokens received. Result is 4 green shields, meaning you now have 5 green order tokens, and the rare instance your opponent has received the same, using the full compliment of green order tokens, with none left over in the extra pile. This doesn't really pose a problem in a 2-player game, you can even raise the order token cap above 4 by a couple. But in a multiplayer free-for-all game this limit in tokens could cause a problem. So unless you produce your own, there's going to have to be cap. What reasonable cap would that be? For now I have no clue. 3. Command Tokens Received. Same problem as #2, there is a limited amount of command tokens which being 10. Perhaps a 3 max cap in a 3 player game, but more players the tokens will become scarce. So probably will have to find a substitute for having more command tokens. 4. Morale Track Morale is a very important system to the game, but it caan't function exactly the same in a 3+ player free-for-all. Also there are only three house morale track, none for allied expansions, so one will have to be created for players exceeding three. On a House morale track there are ten spots (2 - 11). There's a few ways this can be played and my suggestions are these: You can use one side of the track giving you ten spots or use both sides giving you a total of twenty spots. You just flip the track when it decrease below #11 and turn over to the rout side (heads on spikes) starting from the top #2 spot decreasing back down. Each player's morale track is governed independently from the others with their own spot tokens. Starting position is #2 (on the non rout side if using all 20 spots). OR starting position is 11 on non rout side when using both sides, In case where using the full 20 spots, the army is only in the green and below when on the rout side and may only Recover Morale in the Regroup Phase on that portion of the track. The colours on the non-rout side are ignored. When player A eliminates an enemy unit of player B, player A's morale rises accordingly while player B's drops. Player C remains uneffected. When Player A increases or dercreases morale through order tokens or by some other ability, opposing players' morale tracks remain uneffected. If a player gets routed and eliminated, this terminates that player but doesn't end the game for the others unless that was the specific victory condition. So what do you guys think? Any input is appreciated. The discussion on Boardgamegeek.com: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/966124/has-anyone-created-a-4p-senario
  18. Thanks once again, I was confused by the ordered token bit to cancel the X amount of hits.
  19. Keyword Deflect: The X hits that are deflected are the ordered dice that has the same color rank as the attacking unit, or X hits deflected is the number based on rank of the attacker (like green = 1, blue =2, red =3)? They don't go into great details of it in the rules. My understanding is melee attackers can't ever hit on dice results that match their colored rank (i.e. a melee attacker of the same rank as the target can only ever hit on valor, whereas a different colored rank attacker makes the deflect rule useless. Not counting Polearm.)
  20. I'm unsure about something also; my question is, if the enemy unit doesn't suffer a hit but a morale flag was rolled instead, does the enemy unit still retreat or must it suffer a hit first? Because I play it as a hit must have landed first before unit retreats from a flag roll. My second question, a unit always retreats towards their home table edge, but what happens when they're behind enemy lines? As in the units back is against the enemies table edge and the enemy unit that is forcing the retreat is blocking the direction to the home table edge. I assume this means automatic hit(s).

Oh yeah…THIS is the way I hope it works out…this would be awesome, especially for those of us who play Tournament Skirmish in 2v2. I was thinking more along the lines of having a custom world campaign map with the continent of Westeros and all the different territories. A campaign that can be played through several days with multiple players. But I would like at least 4 major houses for this. Could even use AGoT boardgame map for it or just create my own. Though I'm worried that FFG may have stopped supporting this game because it has been like a year since its last expansion and no news yet for the title this year in 2013. My dream would be a 4-7 or 8 player world campaign where the goal would be to conquer a set number of capitals and Kingslanding. Also I would like there to be Wildlings, Nightswatch, and Wightwalkers small expansion releases. Would have the Wildlings and Others invade the south in waves after a set time period in the campaign map. Seems like time consuming, but it would make great use out of the Battles of Westeros game over a season with some friends. Plus there would be a continuity to the games we play. For the Crows it should be: Benjen Stark, Jeor Mormont, Qoran Half-hand, and John Snow as commanders. Wildlings you have: Mance Raydar, Ratlleshirt, and Tormund Giantsbane. And they should have a Giant unit.
  22. Hope they release another major House expansion instead of a small ally contingent. This way we can maybe have an even 4-way campaign between multiple players.
