    The main problem for me is that Discord isn't a forum. If you want to talk about the Clone Wars ships, great. Post in general and then stick around for however long it takes to get that conversation in. Don't have time to hang around? Well, you'll have to try and search for that conversation later, or just miss out.
    Want to find other conversations about things? Practically everything is in the general chat (or otherwise a rules discussion or off-topic). It's not an easy place to navigate to a particular subject for reading unless you either start up a conversation (and then stick around for it), or are decently adept at navigating Discord's bare-bones search ability.
    It's just not quite the same, and I liked keeping tabs on both Discord and the forums for different things.

    So Lucas pulled a lot from WWII naval combat.  In general, cruisers (MC80s, MC75s) were slower ships.  Destroyers (ISDs) were faster.  
    Difference is that destroyers were smaller than cruisers but who's comparing sizes?...

    It seems to me that too many of the upgrades for the Offensive Retrofit slot affect squadron play and that there aren’t enough that touch upon non-squadron mechanics. This may just be me perceiving a nonexistant problem because most carrier ship variants have Offensive Retrofit slots, but when I look through my OR cards, the carrier oriented cards always seem more prominent to me. That being said, what are some ideas for OR cards that don’t involve squadrons that you guys can come up with.
    Here’s mine:
    1. A card that allows you to exhaust it to change any token on its ship into a con-fire token. (Not powerful, but useful for gunnery teams).
    2. A non-recurring exhaustable card that allows you to exhaust another upgrade on its ship to unexhaust a third card that requires a confire to unexhaust (the idea being that other parts of the crew are pulled from their station to help reload the guns).
    Obviously not the best ideas, but something to get the ball rolling.

    Nah, I completely disagree, and I already addressed that in the post you're quoting.  Yes, you can find out what is by inspecting the base (and no, it's not "very clear", it's actually quite hard to see, particularly when it's obstructed by the peg), but it impairs my head-map of the state of the game.  I expect that's why the rules cover this.
    The models are not decorative, they're the quick way of understanding what is where.  I can tell at a glance what's an ISD, what's a Gladiator, what's an Interdictor.  I only need to inspect the base if there are multiple ships of the same type.  I think that's the important point actually - the model is important for the at-a-glance information it provides.

    If they start arguing that its their opppnents fault for not being fluent in delta baseplates, then yes I would. 
    In most circumstances where the player is suitably apologetic and has tried to be reasonable, no.

    Yep very clear (not!)... I mean look at the Aces base plates of other sqns.... ( I mean look at the TIE Bombers ace plates and see how similar they are espically on a table upside down.... and then put the X-Wing, Y wing aces next to each other ones - as said from across a gaming table when those plates are upside down to you with models on and the dial obscuring the trait icons)
     
    So yeah, one or 2 Delta-7s with escorts I'd kinda be ok with, not very happy but I can track 1 or 2.  As soon as you start having 3+ and having V-19s on the table then no, I'd struggle keeping track of what is what.... The models are to say which sqn it is and what standard stats it has (speed, hull) then the plate says if its generic or not and which none generic card to use for the weapon stats & extra rules.
     
    Not everyone plays Armada week in, week out... or just know every unit at a glance

    While I don't have an issue with Vader escorted by a pair of TIE Fighters, I think that's partially because the Advanced is larger. In this image the V-19s overwhelm the Jedi they're escorting. It doesn't help that Aethersprites are so tiny. In a tournament I'd be either constantly asking which squad was which, or just request a model change.

    Woah, dude, gotta take issue with your attitude there.  Cos someone doesn't share your view they're a sanctimonious git?  
    Here's my problem with those mini setups: it's not obvious from looking whether that's a squadron of Torrents or of Deltas (and it would be even worse if there were full squadrons of Torrents in the same list).  Yeah it's clear when you've been told and after you think about it for a second, but when you have to think about it it messes with your intuitive head-map of the game.  That's why we have rules like "They cannot modify a ship model in any way that would create confusion about which ship the model represents."  There's room for nuance here which your attitude denies.
    Clearly this would not be tournament legal, that's cut and dry in the rules.  Whether casual, friendly players would take issue with it is a different matter.  Personally I would never aks you to change it, and I really like how it looks, but it would put me off my game.  I suppose how you feel about that is up to you.

    I suppose this question was always valid, although it seems starting this particular new wave it becomes more acute, mostly because...
    1) Limited availability of the expansion packs
    2) The Jedi never flew entire squadrons of Delta-7s, the way the miniature stand looks
    3) This is a fairly uncommon situation of a single expansion pack containing far more base plates than you need for the matching miniatures in the same expansion (4x Delta-7 base plates)
    Particularly #2 makes me think - I mean, during the Clone Wars, it was basically always one Jedi (Padawan, Knight, or Master) leading a group of Clones operating as a unit.  And if you arrange the minis on the stand that way...well, you've suddenly got PLENTY minis to use all the Jedi base plates the expansion ships with.
    IE., with a single 'Republic Squadrons' expansion, you can do this...

    But...my Lord, is that...legal?
