Ataru is the best lightsaber form offensively, is a bit of a glass cannon, and has the second best utility Niman is the second best lightsaber form offensively, the best defensively (2 ranks of defensive training which work without spending steain or a maneuver), and has the greatest utility There is exactly 1 counter in the game to Hawkbat swoop + saberswarm, it is peerless interception with the strain upgrade. If you have that (and a good force rating) an ataru striker will strain out before you do (and before you drop from wounds) The only way to get past peerless interception is dealing a lot of damage in a single hit. Niman provides bonus damage via draw closer so it increases your chances of getting past peerless interception. Utility... niman uses willpower as the primary stat, discipline and vigilance key off of willpower (as does coercion), you can recover strain at the end of an encounter, use and resist force powers, and score a good initiative slot (to use or give to a teammate), coercion is a useful skill. Consular/Niman offers negotiation and discipline as career skills, sense emotions is useful for talking. It's really well rounded... in terms of deficiencies.... it's missing improved reflect and improved parry bu you can get that by comboing with knight.

Answering a slightly different question Padawan/knight/niman-disciple and either master or padawan-survivor as a 4th spec would be my recommendation Might want to take master and niman-disciple at save time to save xp on improved center of being and sum djem. Padawan was for constant vigilance (couples nicely with high willpower/niman dusciple) and improved secrets of the jedi to get all the crystal mods.

Yup. But there could be downsides from spending black pips... like a red blade which is sure to raise questions from the council and other jedi. Windu probably spent one or more black pips on a blue crystal.

You are both correct (because success is all that matters for modding attachments) Intuitive improvements sentinel artisan talent could probably be used when modding a crystal but it may use force pips. I forget t hgt e details. There maybe some weird talents or maybe item specific mods in special modifications... not confident in t by at just places to look for possible exceptions.

We can do a side quest (more or less as a narrative handwave so you can just do one big post not take a lot of time)... what do you have in mind for the side quest? I was thinking a "mob doctor" type of thing although I don't have specifics. Those are the only ones I'm aware of.... well empty soul talent from ascetic is kind of like a second FR but I'm certain you have > 2 enc so kind of useless for you. Effectively the pair of crystals is just one crystal that costs twice as much to mod. There is time for one or 2 mods, no to the free extended hilt.

I believe you could use maybe 1 (might need 2) of them for lightweight and reduce fr from enc 2 to enc 1 if you wanted to do that.

Basic secrets of the jedi 3 ranks => reduce crafting repairing (not modiing) by 2 to a minimum of easy (1 purple) Improved secrets of jedi let's you pay the reduction to modding (again to a minimum of simple) When modding your own crystal you get to reduce the difficulty twice (to a minimum of simple and add your force dice. I'm forgetting whether the force dice or reducing the difficulty comes from it being crystal, the other comes from it being your own saber (I think it being yours if the difficulty reduction). So you have 4 difficulty reductions (2 from it being your crystal, 2 from improved secrets of the jedi with 3 ranks in lore) Since the base difficulty is 3 the first 2 mods will be against simple (no purple) difficulty, the third will be one purple, the fourth will be 2 purple, the fifth will be 3 purple, the sixth will be 4 purple, the 7th will be 5 purple, the 8th is impossible, you have to flip a dp to even attempt at difficulty 5 (and some will be red instead of purple). Despair shatters the crystal. Simple failure means the mod is lost forever but it doesn't increase the difficulty of subsequent attempts to mod the crystal. However, any non impossible attempt to mod a crystal while at the jedi temple or onboard the crucible auto succeeds (house rule)

Her ship was damaged as they ran the blockade and they were forced to make an emergency landing on tatooine. Qui-Gon Jinn gambled with toydarian Watto on the outcome of a pod race: the Queen's ship against the part they needed to repair it. Unfortunately for Qui-Gon, the otherwise inconsequential but strongly force sensitive human slave boy, Anakin Skywalker, lost the pod race. Qui-Gon also lost a wager that would have freed Anakin. Fortunately for Anakin, he was not to remain a slave forever, moisture farmer Cliegg Lars bought and married Anakin's mother Shmi Skywalker; Lars freed Anakin at the same time. Kenobi's padawan took a kaminoian saber dart meant for Organo. The assassin got away but Kenobi was able to track the dart to the water planet Kamino, whose existence had very strangely had been erased from the jedi archives. On Kamino Kenobi discovered that now deceased Jedi Master Sifo Dyas, who had vocally warned the jedi council of a coming galactic war he had foreseen through the force, had commissioned a clone army from Kaminoians. The clone army was templated off of bounty hunter Jango Fett who Kenobi suspected was the assassin who had killed his padawan while gunning for Organo. The two fought, and Jango Fett fled with his unaltered clone son Boba. Kenobi followed them to the planet Genosis, from where he broadcast what he had discovered. Shortly thereafter, Kenobi was captured by the Genosans and his starfighter was destroyed mid broadcast. Jedi master Mace Windu is leading a strike team of 212 jedi to rescue Kenobi. Upon hearing the news, Chancellor Palpatine, through intermediary senators, attempted to gain emergency powers so that he could commission the available clones as the Grand Army of the Republic. However one of the Chancellor's intermediaries let slip that the request came from the Chancellor and allegations were levied that Palpatine's real motivation was to use the GAR to liberate his homeworld Naboo. The motion passed and the GAR was created, with the impartial Jedi order to serve as generals as a second safeguard against abuse of power. Btw I'm ok with power gaming (optimized characters that are clearly within the rules) but not munchkinism (breaking or bending rules, rules lawyering to argue for a loophole, to get something the rules don't support). This thread is a workspace for a community/collective project for a more reasonable set of vehicle crafting rules than found in fully operational. The biggest objections in my opinion are the rather large htt and armor that can be attained, the low speed, lack of options for sensors and hangers. It is my hope that the rules we come up with will be a fairly small perturbation away from the official rules.
