Omegaclone reacted to Uchidan1 in Community Expansion: Tusken Raiders
    Hello everyone!

I am working on a "Community Expansion" in the form of Condition Units for the Tusken Raiders. I would like them to come with a Scenario as well (Something like "Retrieve the Droid from the Tusken Camp"

Anyway! I just wanted to get your guys feedback on the two units here. They are condition units, so neither player plays them.
At the start of the game starting with the blue player, each player places 1 Tusken Unit within 1-2 of the objective until there are no remaining Tusken units.  Each Tusken unit comes with an Activation token, when a Tusken unit is activated by their "Hostile" keyword, that unit is exhausted until the next round. - During a Players Activation, their opponent will roll the dice for any Tusken attacks and/or defenses.  3x Tusken Raiders and 1x Bantha Rider for a total of 10 tusken's running around as a Terrain Hazard or a Scenario. Let me know what you think! Thank you.

Not if it’s like GW’s flying fish army.

    Eventually, why not?
I do want to see Ewoks first.
And a whole bunch of Jedi characters.
and Tusken Raider expansion similar to the community driven one.

Star Wars is heavily influenced by WWII movies, not WWII. In which movies, it was common trope to have a bunch of stereotyped nationalities in the cast of characters.
In the middle ages, having mixed cultures and languages in a unit wasn't all that uncommon either. And Star Wars exists in a fairy tale world that has more in common with the middle ages than the post-industrial world.
How does the alien communicate in their squad? Same way a tin man talks to a lion. It's just an excuse to have interesting looking figures.
I like the all-wookie rebel squad though. They've been a staple of every SW minis game to date. And they don't need costume changes for different army themes.

I don't know about the greater EU, but as far as the RPG went, that phenomena gets a bit overstated in the retelling. I went back and looked at the Galaxy Guides and such and didn't find the statements to seem that crazy if I turned it into a sentence about an Earth culture. For example replaced the alien race with "Scottish" and the behavior with "bagpipes". They don't actually say "all twi'leks are trained dancers", they say "many twi'lek ceremonies include dancing", which are two very different statements.

The core of the rebel alliance leadership is made up largely of defecting imperial officers.  The Mon Calamari are clearly entering the conflict with their own ships and existing crew and command structure.  It makes sense for them.  This is not a hill I particularly want to die on.  I just think that a more mixed group of aliens would have been better than a group of clone wars era wookies.

I'm sorry if my comments came off as self-righteous or inflexible.  I am an extreme perfectionist when it comes to Star Wars and talk of "not to scale" miniatures sets my teeth on edge.  If they created a small AT-AT for the game, I would whine about it but that would not stop me from buying it.  Again, I'm just uber persnickety when it comes to all things Star Wars.

I don’t think people play Legion because it’s to scale. We play it because we want to play a Star Wars miniature game. We want to field Darth Vader fighting Luke, or Grevious vs Obi Wan. Everything being up to scale is a major plus and makes the game more thematic. I like that, but I’m willing to sacrifice models being exactly up to scale if that means I get to play with iconic Star Wars miniatures. Especially when the vehicles will be a bit smaller than the actual size.
You’re exactly right in that a major selling point for legion is the price point. I played 40k for 10 years and I probably dropped 2-3k. I recently decided to sell my armies (last year). I was pleasantly surprised by how cheap Legion is and that’s why one of the reasons why I purchased my rebel army.
No one is telling you that you have to play “apocalypse legion” and no one is saying that you have to purchase the smaller ATAT. Super heavy vehicles just creates more options for the casual gamer and it will help bring more players into playing larger point games (which is always a good thing for sales). I can’t wait until we see them.

If by "narrow perspective" you mean the scale of the game, then yes I am.  Let's take a look at the Super Star Destroyer from Star Wars: Armada: it's 200 freaking dollars!  If an AT-AT figure were to be created TO SCALE and sold, it would be $400, minimum.  On top of that, it would cost 800 points minimum to field it, though I feel that 1,000 would be more accurate.
Don't get me wrong, I'm an Imperial player and would love to field one of these bad boys.  But in terms of balanced gameplay, it would be grossly unfair to my opponent.  I prefer to win through tactics, not overwhelming force.

I have to admit, I hated Durge when he first came out, and thought Grievous would be a welcome replacement.  The more we got of Grievous, however, the more I wish we had the neigh-unkillable Durge back, at least for a while.  As much as I hated him for his endless monologues, his final confrontation with Anakin was epic, and showed that the Chosen One didn't **** around when he was pissed.

For sure! May do this with the Phase II before I do a 501st squad. There were a few purple troopers for Mace. I think they did an Airborne and Galactic Marine.

I am quite surprised that they have three things still unannounced and I wonder when they will announce them. As for releases......
August: shore September: Clone Wars core sets October: I can see the last two spots being commanders like Cad Bane and Anakin (Rex before Anakin seems off). I'm guessing just a commander a faction would give everyone time to let their wallets recover. November:  I figure they would make a CIS/Empire version of R2/3P0. Give all factions some operatives and release it along the Imperial bunker. December: Those new weapon attachments for all factions. Would say this one sooner to give more options, but **** I did the math for these guys and they will cost a pretty penny.

Finished up a couple of little things, and finally remembered to get pictures of them.  First up, some new alternate models for Generic Imperial officers.
Presenting, from left to right, Lieutenant Beardai and Major Grump.
Beardai will likely only see table time being plugged into trooper squads as the officer upgrade. (he looks great when put into my Mudtrooper squad), while Grump here will occasionally see table time when Mudai Bo'uts isn't up for it, or if I want to run him instead of Krennic.

I was also able to finally finish my heavy weapon option for my Clone Para squad.  I never could find a DC-15 in Legion scale, so I improvised and made one out of a T-21 and E-11.  I already know what I should have done differently on the conversion, but this will work for now.

Finished up with my proof of concept clones, as well as Obi.  Not perfect, but I can live with 'em.  Now to paint a bunch of troopers in plain armor.

it was a lot of fun, im personally a huge fan of the e-web gunner, i can usually find a way to deploy it on buildings if i can and give it a huge line of sight bonus. I built this team to dish out a crap ton of suppression, at 1 point there was about 30 suppression tokens on the board. All in all the game came down to last roll on the last turn of the game

Noooot for a while, dudebro, sorry.

X-Wing was running out of Canon ships, and it took them a while to get there. Now that they’ve added Clone Wars, they’re set for a while (until they catch up on rereleases and need new GCW content.)
Legion is starting Clone Wars already, which means they can spread their GCW content out a bit more, and it wouldn’t be terribly shocking to see Resistance/FO added at some point either. There are still dozens of GCW characters absent from the game, which, along with spreading love to other factions, can easily last them a few years.
The Jedi Order alone could keep the Clone Wars release schedule topped off for a good while, and the CIS can keep up just fine if you account for some Scum options like the Empire has.

A Generic Jedi Squad could work like the new upgrade expansions, by themselves or a squad of 4 Jedi. I imagine they’ll be a Specialist Expansion.
Really like the idea of Hondo be truly neutral.
