I'd say that's a roleplaying aspect of things, but of course a Discipline check could be useful sometimes, particularly if the player has chosen a favourite type of gambling activity, be it chance cubes, sabacc or whatever. I'm gifted with players that will make these checks on their own from time to time...

HD's suggestion is a good one too, both beneficial and disadvantageous not only for the player, but the whole group.

That's purely a role-playing element, and something that Cyril and I agreed did not need to be reflected via game mechanics.  As HappyDaze noted, if you want your Herglic PC to have a gambling addiction, simply take the Addiction Obligation, either as your base Obligation or as part of taking on extra Obligation when making the character.

There's actually a few species that in prior systems had game mechanics to reflect psychological aspects (Barabal had "Jedi Respect" is one clear example, as are Arconians and their salt addiction), but we felt those were already addressed in EotE's Obligation mechanic.  If playing in a strictly Age of Rebellion game, those sorts of things could make for the occasional story hook, but we didn't want to hose a player with an enforced mechanical drawback that was purely negative, particularly as FFG has taken steps to avoid just that sort of thing outside of trade-offs for starting Wound and Strain Thresholds.

Kinda harsh.  The Politico has paid points to do his thing, having it do the opposite of it's function is a little mean.  Having the Politico suffer Setback or upgraded Difficulty because he's under the gun is fair game though.

Sorry for the off topic, but whenever I see people talk about someone boosting their skill checks I just can't help but think of Elan the bard from Order of the Stick.  I just picture him standing behind them, strumming his lute, and singing "slice, slice, slice the computer".

I encouraged all my players to buy the core book, just so they could look up things outside of the few hours we have for playing. I didn't force them, but now everyone in our group has the core book.

As for supplements, I'm going to encourage my players to at least buy their own copy of the career book. The explorer in the group already bought EtU. Hired Gun is up next, so I'll have to see what he does.

But having players buy their own stuff makes it a bit easier on me since I don't have to lug around a copy of every book (as we don't play at my house).

Is it possible to slice something that doesn't have any power left? If it is, maybe the players could try slicing the main controls to find out where the ship was headed before it made a last escape and crashed on Cholganna. Maybe a secret seperatist base somewhere. Could provide some interesting exploration later on.

Oh, yes! Pressure point. I'd completely left that one out. This means that, to minions and rivals, you deal 25 points of damage, and to nemeses, you deal 22 wounds and 3 strain.

    ...

This is getting out of hand, really.

Ah, I wasn't really refering to Pressure Point (didn't even know about it until now ), but I was more curious how the gloves work during combat, and more to what kind of damage they actually do and if they get the Disorient 1 and Knockback specials.

Yes, using shock gloves simply adjusts the profile of unarmed attacks, but you still retain Disorient 1 and Knockdown in addition to Stun 3.

Yes, charge them for statless items. If they want it, or need it, it's going to cost cash. The price of course won't need to be high in my opinion, more symbolic than anything else - unless the helmet should include a comlink of some sort, scanner goggles-like abilities or whatnot.

I'd say a closed visored helmet should cost about 100 to 200 credits, and by default make identifications harder - add setback die to perception to recognise appearance (unless you've seen them with helmet before) and perhaps even a setback die for the muffled voice. This is of course a one time bonus, and only applies against individuals that have only seen you without a helmet, and preferably in a different set of clothing/armour. Masking of the face should incur +1 or 2 setback dice, from concealment but not, as mentioned, as a permanent bonus - for that you have talents.

Both are just 'remove setback die.'

The Togruta were converted pretty much from d20 by profgoldfinch, and largely functioned there to offset a penalty.  Thus, he wrote the SWFFG version to do the same, to negate a setback die.  So it's not necessarily that they sense things any better, just that they're not as impaired by concealment as a Human would be.

Similar deal with Nautolans, in that their species ability negates a condition (in this case, darkness) and thus removes one setback die imposed by lighting conditions, much like the Chiss in Enter the Unknown.

Plus, an "all the time" boost die starts getting into the realm of "is this too good?"  This in particular as more and more species get official write-ups by FFG, and I'm seeing that in a few cases the authors (self included) may have overshot the mark and some species were in need of being toned down a touch.

But if you really feel strongly enough that these senses should provide full-time boost dice, it's your game.  The fact that there's a 5XP talent that's currently only found in specializations that have to be purchased that does the same exact thing (Uncanny Senses, found in Force Exile and Force Emergent) makes me hesitate to simply give them a flat boost die on Perception checks.

Probably not, unless the guy that just got messed up has already used three or four stimpacks that day, and thus won't get much healing out of any further stimpacks, and you really need to make sure he doesn't topple over the next time an enemy looks at him funny.

Awesome, thanks guys! I'll go with the Brass Knuckles option, with the possibility of the arm gaining Hard Points in the future, and giving boosts/setbacks that seem logical in certain situations. Simple and balanced, just what I wanted.

Look through the book for some common equipment that he might be able to find built-in versions of. This might be a headlamp (glow rod, 10 credits) or even night vision photoreceptors (scanner goggles, 150 credits). Things like a datapad are good too. For weapons, built in shock gloves are nice without being too crazy. In short, nothing tue other PCs couldn't buy at a shop, and just set a max credit value that's reasonable for your game.

Well, with the risk of him being even more upset with me, I took his background and rewrote it into a version that I thought made the most sense (instead of asking him to rewrite it, seeing as how he's got a busy schedule). I kept all the important stuff, so it's not like I completely remade it. I simply changed some details and locations. I also removed most of the movie references, as he had told me that they were there because of time constraint, and added custom-made replacements (instead of Obi-Wan, there is now a Jedi created by the player). Wanting him not to feel like a 'shadow of his former self', I even added things that makes the character more important, as other players seem to have tied into his background.

So I showed him my version, expecting the worst, and he seems to like it. I'm meeting with my group in about an hour, and I'll go over it again with him in person. Seems like this might just turn out okay.

If he agrees, I'll see if I can put both versions here for you to read.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: Exotic Dancer should have been a Career!
Anyway, what kind of slave was she? Maybe that will help you give an idea what Career she should take?

Personally, I would ask myself what she did before she was sold into slavery. For example, if she was a student or professor before she was taken, it would seem logical to have her start out as a Scholar.
Of course, if she was just a child when she was made a slave, this wouldn't work. Then I'd go with the type of slave she was and work from there.

Motivation can also come into play here. Maybe she's so angry and decides that she wants to prevent people from being sold as slaves, that this reflects her becoming an Assassin, Bodyguard or Marauder?
