I like this. Greedo - Eh, not thrilled. Slow draw really kills it for me. He should be like 2 or three at most considering that even if you activate him and get to shoot, you could very easily wind up never getting to fire. Spending 10% of my points on that doesn't seem worth it. On the other hand, he'd be fun to use in the campaign. I'd totally use him every chance. Not very practical but fun. Obi-Wan - depending on cost he looks good. Decent attack but I like that he has a good support ability. They were smart to give it decent range (maybe they learned from kayn and sorin), and it pairs well his other ability. Assuming a good cost, he'll be a great campaign ally. Probably a bit pricy, but if the mission calls for attribute tests, possibly worth it. Plus his abilities are so flavorful. Pushing two storm troopers? Nice. Inquisitor - he's good maybe a bit much, but probably not. He only gets one attack, and unlike Bossk he had no other way to do damage. Still good speed and consistent damage mitigation means I'll be glad to use him in campaign and skirmish. I'm skirmish, he's more of a flanker who exploits your opponent's weak spot than a center piece like Vader or rgc, which is good because it it's a needed niche. items - I like them including items in these packs. It gives them more value for the campaign player. And since campaign isn't competitive in the way skirmish is, it avoids the dreaded Autothrusters Syndrome. Plus all the items are pretty cool and improve overall theme of the pack. Hope they continue this. The command cards that we can see are okay too.

Hmm. I know I've made a lot of hay about underpowered unique units, but I'm wondering if the inquisitor may be swinging too far in the other direction. On the other hand, he would be great in campaign, evoking exactly the response I would want for a villain: "oh crap. We need to get this done before he messes us up." Maybe lead to some cool showdown where a couple of heroes stay behind to handle this joker

In the Shadows says that at the start of an activation code a figure, it becomes hidden. I noticed two things: it does not specify that the activated figure needs to be the one hidden (contrary to the summary found in the article), and the activation does not even need to be am imperial activation. You can use this at the start of a hero's activation, say after they've activated a specific hero so they can get a shot at the figure you just hid. That's way better than I initially thought. -

Little known fact: George is also the emperor's personal tax preparer. He has supreme finance-fu skills and even is force sensitive, which is how the emperor owns half the galaxy yet doesn't owe anything in taxes. -

Nexu are allowed inside. By the time the imperials get them, they've already been potty trained. -

This is cool stuff but the imperial class deck is the real winner here. By far that is the most interesting class deck I've seen for the imperials. Not necessarily the best off the knee I'd always run, but it is interesting, and powerful in a way we haven't seen -

Note that, as usual, the core set has more than any of the expansions, so if you like the game and get the expansions, don't expect Hoth or twin shadows too have nearly as much stuff. -

Here's the list for wave 1: http://imperial-assault.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Wave1 So everything but those. -
Haven't had a chance to play the Hoth campaign, but used the figures in skirmish, and the elite HKs are crazy fun. They hit from across the board many times, with the enemy having no option to return fire often times.

The Ethics of an Imperial Player
lowercaseM replied to Maltodextrin's topic in Imperial Assault Campaign
I've never played descent, but it may be their experience there is hampering them. The first mission is timed, but they didn't open the door until most of the way through the mission, that shows a failure to prioritize. Let them know that in IA, you HAVE to focus on the mission, and not get bogged down shooting grunts. Remind them they aren't adventurers, but a spec ops team whose job is to get in and accomplish the mission and get out before reinforcements arrive. Aside from that, losing the first mission is honestly good for the rebels, as the next story mission will be easier (it's a fun one too). Go through the forum and reddit page and look for threads on over looked rules. Rebels often lose if they don't use their abilities to the fullest. Taking strain to get movement points, spending surge to recover strain, and recovering health when you would recover strainbut have none are some of the most important rules to not forget. Also, check your class deck. If you are using subversive tactics, switch it out. That's a tough deck to win against for new players. -

Since no one has mentioned it, it is really important to note that the early allies and villains are badly over priced (except the rebel troopers and the rebel sabs), which means that unless the mission calls for it, you will likely never use them :-\ So if you get the game and love it and want to add more, unless the tokens really bother you, get ally and villain pack from wave 2 on. EDIT: something I had trouble with when I was looking into this game: A&V only give you a figure + deployment card, a mission for campaign, mission for skirmish, and an agenda set if it is a villain. They do not contain new items, supply cards (consumables you pick up in campaign missions), or heroes. Those only come in big box expansions. -

I don't think murne's ability is a fix for allies. Bare in mind that they are getting much better about good allies that are worth it. I think more that it plays into the character's style of play than anything about it being a fix. -
The pricing on the early uniques was completely wrong. Only Luke was anywhere near right (well, some of the skirmish versions of the campaign heroes are alright) in that first wave. Better versions are required. I hope they will include the new deployment cards in a big box and not require an additional pack with a mini.

best part is you've gotten to see what the other guy rolled already. Did he just get a perfect roll and nothing but a dodge can save you? Swap it out. Did he just roll 2 or three hits? Reroll the black die.
-
Black market prices, rebel high command, and Leia looks to be wonderfully abusive. Especially if you can figure out a way for Leia to fire twice. Just keep a regular smuggler around just to use that card and he can readily make up his point value.

Hot on the trail of the heroes preview is Lando. Honestly looks solid. They are really nailing these new unique figures https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/5/6/card-player-gambler-scoundrel/

Why on earth didn't they use that for the movie?? That looks way better than the derivative recolor they actually used.

I...I really want this to be a joke and laugh at it but given some of the comments people have made really not sure... :-(

Not at all. As a single unit deployment, he has to be awesome and cheap to see play, otherwise he'll never see play in skirmish. -

I agree. He's a pure support character, but unlike Gideon, he seems like he will be interesting play as, which is great. Eh. Yeah but max damage isn't great. It does however have the virtue of consistency. I'm hoping they have a mod for 2 attack dice sabers that adds like a blue or green die. That will boost Diala's weapon too.and if you make it a tier 3 item it gives those force users some weapon progression in the end campaign. -

Definite improvements on the costing of the two figures. A 10 hit figure with a 2 die attack, potential for multiple attacks and 5 speed for 6 points? Yeah that sounds right. What do you guys think of his lightsaber? I feel it's underwhelming, but maybe I'm wrong. -
Hey FFG how about an update?
lowercaseM replied to patrickmahan's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
Well it seems someone is out to embarrass me :-) Unfortunately it happens more than you'd like to know. And I'm talking million dollar companies getting bought out and this happening. It isn't often, but it happens enough that you wonder what was the point. But that's the way our business world can work with right offs and asset selling and such.~D *puts soap box on the ground and stands on it**rants about bad incentives created by convoluted tax systems* *yells something about a flat tax before being sedated and hauled off by a couple of burly nurses muttering about escapees* -

I'm kinda nervous. I was hesitantly supportive at first of the merger but I'm not sure anymore. I keep thinking back to a video I saw where a guy talked about how he used to work for a game company until it was bought out by a large company which essentially shut down all existing projects for tax write offs, then closed the company. Turns out the CEO of Asmodee was the CFO of that same company, and would have been working in the part that dismantled the aforementioned game company. So perhaps it is nothing that we have these delays. I hope so. I hope they are just timing it right. After all, there's no reason I can think off to screw up the legacy of a company like FFG. But then...I would never buy a company and shut down its projects for very short term gain either. -
