  1. This change affects scoring too, not just MoV so it absolutely can change who wins and loses a match. Even in games that are still won by large base ships you will see an increase in modified wins which will also negatively impact them particularly in a large tournament where going undefeated yet having 2-3 modified wins will keep you from making the cut.
  2. Is 58 point Super Dash w/ 42 point Corran still going to factor heavily into the meta? Dead Corran and half dead Dash nets you 71 points. That means you will wind up in modified win territory against many lists with a single Blue Squadron B-Wing or a single Y-Wing or HWK with a TLT.

  4. Oh goodie. This topic again. The new ships are sweet including the exclusive pilots and upgrades. The new asteroids are great to have. I needed extra dice. Oh, and then there is that minor detail of getting an updated damage deck that improves upon the old one. That's really great to have as well. There us tremendous value in the new core set even from your FLGS. And if things are really tight and you want to break down and get one from CSI or MM then it's a downright steal. Thanks for the new core set FFG! It's outstanding!
  5. I had no idea either! What's even better is that I just found out you can also change your settings to not see posts from specific people! Best day ever?
  6. In non-tournament play proxies for cards should always be allowed in my opinion. That's extremely beneficial for all parties, beginners and experienced players. There are a couple list building sites in particular that are very good and allow you to print off a list where everything is very clear including PS, agility/attack, hull/shields, pilot anility, etc. Add your shield tokens to the sheet and play. For beginners this is a great idea so they can try things out and figure out what they really like as they build their collection. Keep it about the ships instead of the upgrades. Then they can pick up (or borrow) whatever is necessary when they get to the point of wanting to play in a tournament. I have a large collection as is but I haven't gotten around to purchasing the Tantive or Raider and I also haven't gotten around to buying multiple copies of certain ships. In casual play I think it's silly to get upset or not allow someone to proxy a card. That being said the person using a proxy should make every effort to present everything clearly.
  7. When I first read through it my gut feeling was that any card legally added to your ship at the start of the game should remain. Then I considered the precedent set with the Injured Pilot critical (as well as Munitions Failure) from a game mechanic standpoint. Then you factor in that FFG just essentially eliminated those specific crits from the game. From that perspective it seems they really don't want you to lose your Elite upgrade (or pilot ability or secondary weapon). In short, at first I thought you should keep your Elite upgrade, then I thought you shouldn't and now I think you should keep it again. We will get an official ruling soon enough but for now that's how I would argue it.
  8. That's actually 50 point but that's splitting hairs. I don't even think he needs Gunner honestly. And with Glitterstim out now that replaces ID for me. It allows you to be more aggressive in certain situations than you otherwise might be. You still need to make an offering to the dice gods but you can put yourself in what otherwise would be a perilous situation to pull off a nasty attack.
  9. I'm not sold that 2 TLT's is a good enough way to round out a list. The strength of the TLT seems to be when you run 4 of them. I could be wrong but in the initial testing I've done they have been a bit underwhelming part of the time and solid other times. Anyone else feeling this way?
  10. 1 of everything except for the T70. I will get 2 of those. I already have 1 new core and it will probably stay that way (Wired will show up elsewhere).
  11. TL;DR IT'S NOT THE FIX! THE FIX FOR THE T65 WON'T BE SOMETHING THAT MAKES THE T70 BETTER ALSO. And on another note, wow! There's some cool stuff in there!
  12. That's why there's two other ships in the list who all shoot before Torkil does. The problem is that Torkil already has a target painted on his back and now you make it even easier for your opponent to kill him.
  13. For what it's worth I have an FFG acrylic range ruler from 2014 GSC prize support that is not identical to the length of the range rulers that come with the original core sets. Thesee are both official FFG range rulers yet there is a very slight difference. This issue is fairly common as far as I know and can be often attributed to material loss from cutting. If you have a range ruler or template that is a hair off it really should be a non issue. In my nearly 3 years of playing this game I have yet to hear of someone trying to exploit this known issue to their benefit. If it's extremely close I wouldn't worry about it.
  14. Interesting. Recently definitely started having a lot less fun. In fact, I think my games against the core set have been some of the worst feelings I've had since starting this game. And it was also in public with a bunch of nice, friendly, intelligent (and tournament-competitive) people I know who couldn't tell me that I was feeling slighted for no good reason either. Having fun is a choice. If you aren't having fun then you have chosen to let something bother you. I agree with you that the T70 is not a fix for the X-Wing. I still believe that we will get a fix for the T65 though. If you don't want to be patient for the fix that will come and choose to ignore all the fun stuff that is being added to the game then again that is your decision. I see nothing meta defining wit the new core release. T70's aren't going to dominate the meta based upon what we have seen so far. I expect them to show up competitively but they should be just another option. fairs fair on that. id just rather see more strictness on maneuverability. just seems like an ever ascending slope of better and better. I don't think they'll dominate either. Also, I haven't said they will either. I'm more talking about why I don't like it from a design perspective. The "fix" we do get for the X-Wing will more than likely not give it any new fancy maneuvers as you would generally need those on the dial for practical use. So while it's too bad the T65 seems as if it's been left behind I would argue the game is a lot more fun now than what it was in Wave 1 and 2.

  16. Thumbs up on a correct analysis of the situation. You answered your own question right there I was pretty confident. Thanks for confirming guys.
  17. Can't argue with the factuality of any of this, but aren't there just as many lists that use all or mostly lower PS ships? A single IG is gonna be really bad news for a single Y-Wing, any way you slice it, right? Same with Soontir. Things are a little different when you have multiple TLTs coming at you though. I can see Brobots being a tough out for a bunch of TLT Ys, but there are lots of lists that Brobots are hard on. As for Soontir, isn't your everyday Decimator + Fel list a fairly good matchup for a bunch of TLTs? I could be wrong as I play a lot less Standard... I have found your suspicion to be highly accurate so far. Brobots have the total hit points to withstand multiple TLT attacks while they get in close to wreck shop. In my last match I basically ended up trading Torkil w/ TLT and a StarViper for IG88B. My 2 Y's weren't able to get enough damage through on the remaining IG quick enough. In retrospect I would have played it a little differently but it's still going to be a challenge for TLT's. Interceptors don't scare TLT's.
  18. I can't find a reference to this interaction nor any clarity from the FAQ or the new rule book. If a ship is equipped with both Tactician and Flechette Canon and both are triggering (i.e. range 2 shot, in arc, w/ canon against a non-stressed ship) are you as the attacker able to apply both effects? Tactician says: "After you perform an attack against a ship isnide your firing arc at Range 2, that ship receives 1 stress token." whereas Flechette Canon says: "If this attack hits, the defender suffers 1 damage and, if the defender is not stressed, it also receives 1 stress token". I want to be able to apply the effects of the Flechette Canon first and Tactician second to dish out 2 stress tokens when the aforementioned conditions have been met. I would argue that the language on Tactician "perform an attack" encompasses the entire attack process whereas the trigger on the Flechette Canon is nested within the entire attack process, specifically step 6 where results are compared and it is determined if the attack "hits". Apologies if this has been asked and answered in the past.
  19. If it's a problem don't buy it. Borrow one when you go to a tournament that requires you to use it. It's probably extremely unlikely that you have a tournament coming up any time soon where the TO is going to be adamant that you use it. These complaints are nearly basis and more than likely coming from people that complain about everything regardless of reality. There are easy solutions to most of these "problems" real or imagined. Sorry if people think I'm being a jerk about it but all I see are complaints after complaints that probably hold no water when looked at from a realistic standpoint. See my above post. This community is friendly by and large. I lend stuff out constantly to new players or if someone forget something. That's reality, not these make believe scenarios where you have a major tournament next week with a tyrannical TO and nobody that can lend you something. Heck if that's the kind of environment your in why are you paying $10-$15 to enter THAT tournament anyway? Look you might have a reasonable point had this new set come out between waves but it didn't, wave VII just came out as did the Raider and x-mass is well on it's way also. So bad timing for that argument And when (aside from Worlds where it probably won't be an issue seeing as its at FFG and something can get worked out) is the next premier event? Oh, it's many months away? Excellent. Point still valid. Can we stop bitching about imagined problems now?

  21. In that case they better start selling the new damage deck separately. I may be proven wrong but I don't believe that will ever happen. I also think people are making a much bigger deal out of this than it really is. It's probably a byproduct of people feeling "forced" to purchase a new Core set to get the new damage deck in order to play competitively (at least at bigger events) in the future. My question is: Why wouldn't someone want to buy at least one new Core set anyway? Because it's a reasonable amount of money to spend just to get a damage deck. Retail here in NZ is around $65-$70. That's a lot of coin to drop on something I won't get much use out of. If you are amongst am extremely small portion of the player base that is both A.) a competitive tournament player and B.) someone who is completely disinterested in purchasing the new core set that includes some great stuff and C.) in an area that puts on tournaments where all the other players are jerls and won't loan you an extra copy and D.) the TO is an insanely anal and unreasonable person that won't allow you to use your old damage deck given this extreme confluence of events than man I really feel for you. For the other 99.925% of the player base this is still a non-issue. Oh and by the way, these ships are beautiful! FFG did a tremendous job with them. You should really consider picking up a set. It's a great buy!
  22. I plan on using it to note an effect that has been declared such as Torkil Mux knocking someone down to PS 0.
  23. Im sure they could probably pull that off in a similar manner to what they used to make the B-Wing.
  24. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/9/4/man-your-ships/The gray box in the middle titled "How does the Force Awakens core set fit with the rest of X-wing?" shows Resistance going with the Rebels and First Order going with the Empire. That's probably good enough for a tourny. I think I agree with you because the squad-building section of the tournament rules say "Rebel" and "Imperial" which now include the new subfactions. And since North American products are legal upon release, it's not like we have to wait for any green light to use them in tournaments. Right? Not so sure about that as all the other ships officially belong to one of the 3 factions in the game. An official faq, rule book update or tourny rule update would be required just like when debris fields came out.I'm not going to dig for it but the tournament rules have remained consistent for quite awhile now that new ships are legal upon release. FFG has confirmed the release of the new Core set therefore it must now be legal for tournament play. The core set clearly defines how the Resistance and New Order ships fit into the existing factions. There is no ambiguity. Everything in the Core set is legal right now. Ninjas! Ninjas everywhere!!!!

It's probably a byproduct of people feeling "forced" to purchase a new Core set to get the new damage deck in order to play competitively (at least at bigger events) in the future. My question is: Why wouldn't someone want to buy at least one new Core set anyway? I'm a patient man and I'm not really too worried about it, but, it's not so much about being "forced" into buying one but my wife and I play and it would mean buying two MORE sets we don't really want just to play competitively. I have an easy fix for you: Blend an old damage deck with a new damage deck. Each deck has 7 direct hits. There are two copies of every other damage card in each deck. Split everything evenly and your two damage decks are now equal and no one has either an advantage or disadvantage. Since its a casual setting all is well. You said you aren't going to play competitively so that is another non-issue. Lastly the backs of the cards from the new set are different than the backs of the old damage deck so you can go back and split it up again in seconds. Now you can just purchase the one core set that you want to start with anyway and not worry about a second unless you find you really want another for the ships.
