  1. General consensus seems to be the FO's are going to get the most mileage from certain named pilots. That being said if you were to give Vessery VI and bump him to an 8 you could get some good synergy with the PS7 Omega Ace who will want to use PTL to pick up both at TL and focus to use his ability. Other than that you could always plug a couple 4 PS Omega Squadrons with DTF or another cheap upgrade into a list.
  2. Very similar to a list that I put together but haven't had a chance to run yet. In mine I'm dropping the EU and Calculating off, giving him Marksmanship and giving each of the Y-Wings an Unhinged Astromech. I also toyed with the idea of giving Bossk Anti Pursuit Lasers or the Ion Projector instead of Outlaw Tech but I think getting a focus when doing a red maneuver trumps them both.
  3. You can call it a "small insurance policy" if you want but I see it as more of a very pricy and frequently useless upgrade. Give me an HLC for 2 extra points, roll 4 dice at range 2 and 3, spend target lock that you picked up from the K4 and use Marksmanship that you declared as your action. That's maximizing damage.
  4. Again, you don't want Engine Upgrade on Kavil if you are using a Blaster Turret.
  5. A-Wings have had minimal success in this game. Jake Farrell has probably had the most success in high level competition and that has been as a second fiddle or compliment to Han or Dash. A-Wing swarms have won but very infrequently and it seems the ones that have done well used Prockets. Overall TIE swarms have had much more success than A-Wings, Prockets or no Prockets. Most likely you are looking at individual pilots showing up in a complimentary role to the rest of the list. If you are building a swarm it appears that the original TIE will be superior.
  6. I like it. I'm planning on trying out a similar list.
  7. The opponent won, but he didn't get a full win as I understand the OP. This isn't just about MoV. The BroBots lost because of the scoring. Two half dead BroBots lost to Miranda. I don't think this is the same thing your group has been doing. Again, the badly damaged Brobots actually won this game. Maybe they were flying conservatively because they would have put themselves in danger and actually lost one? Ok, I didn't read it that way at all. I thought that Miranda won. It's not exactly clear in the OP. It doesn't change my opinion on the matter. As time moves on players using large base ships will start to better understand how they need to play. In large part this is going to stop Fat Han, Dash or BroBots from playing run and hide in matches. Forcing engagement is always good.
  8. This isn't just about MoV. The BroBots lost because of the scoring. Two half dead BroBots lost to Miranda. I don't think this is the same thing your group has been doing. That's exactly my point. The guy had two BroBots chasing one opposing ship that is quite a bit slower than either Bot and he couldn't kill it. As a dedicated BroBot pilot, I am having trouble fathoming how this is possible. The only explanation I can think of is a total misplay on the part of the BroBot pilot, in which case he deserved the loss. Also, why the uproar about this when three full health B-wings have been losing matches to 1-health Hans and Chirpys for months now? EDIT: And yes, this is almost exactly what my group has been doing. We limited it to large ships worth 40 points or more, but for the sake of this scenario it would have resulted in the same situation. The difference seems to be that our players are willing to actually go for the kill rather than throw the game by playing over-defensively. But it's nice to know that someone on the other side of the world knows what's happening at my group better than I do. Sorry, I didn't mean any offense. You specifically said MoV. It sounded like we were talking about 2 different things. Seeing as there has been confusion over the issue I was just trying to point out the difference. I must apologise as well. In fact, I'm the only one who should be. I misread the OP's score and got far too snarky in my response to you. It's all good. I've gotten way to snarky at times on this forum recently too. :-)

  10. I'm not sure what this means. Doesn't Bossk's only trigger after the attack hits? So what does his ability have to do with Gunner triggering? Yes Bossk's ability only triggers after the attack hits so no it has nothing to do with Gunner triggering. Personally I don't think Gunner is the best choice regardless. It's not like you can get FCS on him. Using the K4 and getting a TL a high percentage of the time even when blocked is way too good of an upgrade to pass up. TL and Marksmanship when not blocked? Yes please!

  12. 70 minutes. I played King Maker after loosing my 2nd ship. I had one ship down to the half way mark, so I ran Miranda in such a way that I could regen shields and he was getting bad (or no) shots at me unless he took big risks. At time, Miranda was alive, and both of is IGs were at or bellow half health. Next someone is going to tell me I did something wrong.... but what more could I do? Miranda had to play to her strengths at the end and see if she could get lucky. Well like you just said, your opponent had an opportunity to take big risks in order to kill Miranda and obviously chose not to. Did your opponent not realize that these rules were in place? If they are in that position of needing to destroy your ship in order to win then they should work hard to do so. In that situation, who cares if one of your IG's dies trying to kill Miranda? As long as one IG lives you win. It seems as if the IG player needs to consider new tactics in the new meta. That is after all part of the point.
  13. A Dagger Squadron B-Wing could be a good choice so that all of your ships shoot before Gold or Thug TLT Y-Wings. Against quad TLT's Wedge gets one shot before he's dead though.
  14. The barrel roll action happens after you reveal your dial bit before you execute your maneuver. You can't be stressed to take the free barrel roll action to begin with. Once that action is triggered it opens an opportunity to trigger Push the Limit and boost, focus or target lock. You become stressed from PTL, then execute your green maneuver thereby clearing the stress. I think you can take your normal action at that point so long as it's not a duplicate of what you just did when you used PTL.
  15. I love all of this. Super excited about Dengar and I'm stealing the name Unreliable Cloaking Device! Amuses me more than it probably should.
  16. I think the big take away right now is that many more pilots and/or ships have become viable options as compared to the previous meta. Many of the top lists will still be very strong lists only now they won't have such a strangle hold on the meta. IG88A has a legitimate place in things moving forward. He will have good match ups and bad ones, much like pretty much every other pilot/ship in the game. One thing that stands out to me about his viability when coupled with IG88B is your opponents targeting priority. Do you let IG88A live longer and be able to use his ability in the end game where it can swing the result of the match or do you let IG88B live and be a stronger offensive threat? Ultimately I'm just welcoming of the increased variety.
  17. Interestingly enough both myself and another guy who purchased the YV-666 at our FLGS the day it came out had the female end of the post support pull out of the ship base (insert jokes here!). His happened immediately at the game shop whereas mine happened the second time I used it at home. Easy to super glue back in. Anyone else run into that?
  18. Yes you should. If someone is trying to be deceptive then that tells me they aren't confident in themselves or their list and that they need to resort to something like that to get an advantage. That being said, regardless of what your opponent does, you should absolutely clarify before the match which ship is which. If there could be any question it's your responsibility to know or ask if it isn't clear. You should also be paying attention at setup. That would clearly inform you of who is who if a red paint scheme B-Wing is setting up with the PS 2's and a blue paint scheme B-Wing is setting up with 7's or 9's. If someone pulls one over on you because you didn't ask and you weren't paying attention to base tokens or setup then it's your own fault.
  19. While they did eliminate that sub-forum they didn't delete posts. It's possible that Disney asked them to get rid of it but it's also possible that FFG's legal team recommended getting rid of it. Either way it seems almost entirely related to being in compliance with the terms of their license. If you go look at the video that FFG shot from Gencon you will see that it is filled with shots of repaints that they filmed from the X-Wing National Championship. It definitely seems like a straight up legal issue and that they would be thrilled to support it if they could. That's the way it seems to me anyway.
  20. It's really just the YT-2400 and Decimator that have that issue, at least on a near universal scale. I've never much of an issue with any other large bases. I almost always add number tokens to every base I am using (large or small) whether I need them or not. It helps tighten things up and keeps the base token and everything in place better. On a side note, has anyone else had issues with their T70? My ship comes off the peg way too easy, just like the aforementioned YT-2400/Decimator issue.
  21. This is certainly not going to kill Bro Bots competitively. I think it kinda does... How so? You just make a blanket comment and expect it to stand on it's own merit? Bro Bots are a strong list that win many games. Even if they give up some points for 1/2 strength, they are still going to win games. With EVERY list giving up points now, it will be less and less a matter of winning without giving up any. The whole MOV will be turned on it's head. Yes, some people will win their games without losing much, but a lot less often and a lot less numbers of them. There should now be no list that will be MOV proof, which means fotressing their points to ensure you do well. Here's one example of why BroBots are strongly affected: let's say my 50 point IG88C is left against your Soontir Fel. Soontir is down to one hull but IG88C has had his shields stripped but 4 hull remaining. The game goes to time. Who wins? Soontir.
  22. Exactly. I am so sick of him being the reigning Worlds Champion and all this constant talk of Fat-Chewie...oh wait, I'm mixing him up with Han, aren't I. Nope, not an issue.
  23. The key is to consider when the original sets were printed and produced. Everything that is on shelves now is the old stuff and seeing as there was a recent restock if I recall correctly every original core set you pick up for the foreseeable future will have the old deck and rule book. I would imagine that the next time they produce those core sets those components will be swapped out. That being said given the recent restock it will likely be well down the road when that happens.
  24. This wasn't a cash grab. This was a straight up improvement to the game. X-Wing will be better with the new damage deck.
