    Ramblings of an old wargamer...

at the OP... This is why we are 'skirmish battle' here...not open warfare. I just played a game against my brother today and he was all "generic commander with lotsa stuff" whole I played a beefed up Han and Chewie with a couple other pricey units...even a Wedge Piloted Speeder. The game was cool and I noted how at the beginning I was "outnumbered". Sort of like how the Rebels always seem to be in the movies. My "Herohammer" got me thru the fight though with Han/Chewie/Wedge anchoring the middle objective and delivering the win. It was my 8 activations vs 10 and my quality of activations handily beat my opponent. Very flavorful and very fluff/canon. The game is doing well. Its a skirmish fight, not a pitched battle. This is the game we have bought into. Its not 40k.

    SUPERFRIENDS!

++ Standard (Rebel Alliance) [798 Points] ++ + Commander + •Han Solo [128 Points]: Duck and Cover •Luke Skywalker [187 Points]: Force Push, Force Reflexes, Recon Intel + Operative + •Chewbacca [128 Points]: Emergency Stims, Hunter, Tenacity + Corps + Fleet Troopers [81 Points]: Environmental Gear, Fleet Trooper, Scatter Gun Trooper Rebel Troopers [72 Points]: Rebel Trooper, Z-6 Trooper Rebel Troopers [72 Points]: Rebel Trooper, Z-6 Trooper + Special Forces + Rebel Commandos - Strike Team [50 Points]: DH-447 Sniper, Hunter + Support + 1.4 FD Laser Cannon Team [80 Points]: Barrage Generator + Command Hand + Command Hand: •Ambush, ••Push, •••Assault, ••••Standing Orders ++ Total: [798 Points] ++ Created with BattleScribe Barrage Generator is local. If in fear of Armor...go with the other Generator. Push hard for the middle with the trio and fleets, Chewie absorbing wounds. Shoot for a middle board objective if possible. Once there, hold and/or assault. Make sure cannon can cover as much of the battlefield as possible. Try to assist your Reb troops that are prolly on the flanks. Rebel Troops are for side objectives or holding the line. Find some cover and dodge/shoot. Sniper assists both those squads with priority. No activation quantity, but activation QUALITY!
  3. Its been so friggin long that FFG has seemed to drive me back to 40k. 2 factions in Legion is boring me and Armada being my primary game anyway has left my hobby bored, uneventful, and tournament-less. (tournament play is my favorite thing about minis gaming) During this heinous drought Ive actually amassed an almost complete Drukari (Dark Eldar) army and a bunch of books to jump back into the game after a 2 edition hiatus that started with X-Wing. Thats around $700-800 bucks FFG has missed out on. I know its a drop in the bucket and Im only 1 person...but Im sure Im not the first to give my entertainment bucks to someone else due to boredom. Armada has been my jam since release and I love the game intensely. Ill watch for news but like Green Knight and unkown others....my patience is at an end. 8th edition 40k on the other hand....mad release schedule and evidently the rules are in a good place right now. I used to hail FFG as the AMERICAN GW without crappy pricing and actual playtested rules. I was concerned when Asmodai bought them out. Right now it seems that concern was prudent. Shame. It was a good run and FFG has gotten my GW hobby money for several years. Like a recovering alchoholic though....Im back off the wagon. EDIT: This post is without ******* or salt. Im just bored and going back to a company with a fantastic IP AND a rapid release schedule and regular news. No salt needed....my entertainment dollar is just keeping my mini gaming hobby fresh and fun....as it should be.

    Bailbombs

Used this today. To my satisfaction it worked well. I scrapped some discord suggestions because I forgot to bring the cards needed for an adjusted list. Bailbomb (400/400) ================= MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100 + 55) + Admiral Raddus (26) + Bail Organa (7) + Ordnance Experts (4) + Electronic Countermeasures (7) + External Racks (3) + Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) + Aspiration (3) MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100 + 28) + Lando Calrissian (4) + Ordnance Experts (4) + Reinforced Blast Doors (5) + Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) + External Racks (3) + Profundity (7) CR90 Corvette B (39 + 14) + Redundant Shields (8) + Projection Experts (6) Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 + 7) + External Racks (3) + Garel's Honor (4) GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 3) + Comms Net (2) + Quantum Storm (1) Most Wanted Solar Corona Planetary Ion Cannon So, I guess its my understanding that traditional Raddus lists like to have the flagship hang back as a "finisher". Also, I saw mention of Raddus having a problem against mirror lists and needing to go first, so a bid was needed for that eventuality. I was also told that my CR90 is confused about the proper role of CR90's in a Raddus list. Its just a single battle, but I was pleased to see how well everything hummed today. Anyway, the plan here is to pick a juicy target (the ISD or most vital/dangerous ship), box it in, and utterly annihilate it...then move on. Lead with the flagship...yes the FLAGSHIP. On an oblique approach with front and relevent side shields at 6. Plenty of tanking ability here. The CR90's mission is to feed shields throughout the battle. Let the big ships get stuck in and do work. Spam repair, heal thru Redundant and send shields. Beef up Aspirations weakened shields on the approach. For the record, today the CR90 lent 10 shield points over the game. Redundant Shields actually helped here and was rebuilding shields the entire game starting turn 2. Hopefully, you have guessed the engagement right with Bail. Go second till the big turn, then with Bail, blast away then tuck tail and escape at high speed or to a weaker flank. Profundity hopefully blocked in the primary target with the help of Garels Honor. Between these three ships, that 2 ship ISD will not survive. Other than that...simple Raddus tactics. I found this list to be fun thanks to the 'cleric' CR and the tanking Flagship. Fleet was a real bully today.
  5. Regionals Tournament results 1 win (Sloane), 2 loss (Thrawn 2ship, Sato). I learned more than I would have with a competetive list though...and had a blast. Other players LOVED the list and were vocal about how cool it was. So basically, if squadrons are your plan against this....you fail...period. Took this to a regional this weekend. Went up against Sato, Thrawn 2Ship, and Sloane. Mauler got smashed HARD. Sure he got his damage in, but Z's fall over to a mild breeze anyway....you cannot kill them fast enough with aces. He got his shot in and died quickly....and past 2 escorts. Sloane was a wasted commander that game. Thrawn 2 Ship with MJJ did a turn 1 attack to thin the numbers and rolled in forcing the engagement. It actually caught me offguard as Turn 1 I normally like to bank some emergency tokens for movement and ET. I lightly prepared for it with the transports instead of banking and squadroned with ONLY THEM. His assault was meaningless. 2 ship lost their "advantage" in 1 turn and was fighterless in 3 (or maybe had Jendon last an addt'l turn). Sato, his fighters were a joke. So, the challenge comes in surviving. Station Assault was picked twice and I never lost a station. (though once I got tabled, still kept them safe) Sato picked Superior positions and both of us got a single token. Survive! This has to be worked on. Also, this fleet was NOT for the faint of heart, as I was playing an uphill battle against the ships themselves. Often my Pelta was busying itself with dodging an Avenger kill shot. BTW....this list will basically do its best to avoid ISD's unless thats all that comes at me. May make some adjustments. May trade up missions to busy the opponent and keep ships safer.

    Regionals Data Project 2018-2019 Season

@Cpt Caine Is there a Cliff Notes for that epic sonnett you just wrote? Or do I just... tldr
  7. I look forward to Pursuant being the more common Quasar title! 😉
  8. Z's dont care. Spread out, move same. 18 fighters kill him and your escort first. 18 squad bases sort of change the game. Thats my lame-o list answer to a tier 1 squad.
  9. Play the stations (to heal fighters if needed) "Dont step on the mound!" btw...all of my Z's are painted! 🤣
  10. Just to turn heads and have fun at a tourney where you dont know the meta. After some discussion on Discord, this is what I got... Fire Ants (398/400) ================== Modified Pelta-class Command Ship (60 + 63) + Leia Organa (38) + Flight Commander (3) + All Fighters, Follow Me! (5) + Boosted Comms (4) + Engine Techs (8) + Phoenix Home (3) + Ahsoka Tano (2) Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 + 12) + Expanded Hangar Bay (5) + External Racks (3) + Garel's Honor (4) Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 + 😎 + Expanded Hangar Bay (5) + External Racks (3) GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 7) + Comms Net (2) + Expanded Hangar Bay (5) GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 7) + Comms Net (2) + Expanded Hangar Bay (5) Lieutenant Blount (14) 17 x Z-95 Headhunter Squadron (17 x 7) Superior Positions Station Assault Planetary Ion Cannon Play the stations to win. 18 fighters = Somewhat same as 8 bomber command xwings...but smash the crap out of opposing squadrons, aces especially. Like I said, this is for fun, so, I know your netlist or hyper cometetive list can beat it. Its for fun games and just to introduce an unstable element into the tourney! Thoughts? (thanks in advance to you discord guys! Im pretty happy with this!)

    I want to use Vics!

How many Vics do you expect to lose vs dedicated 134pt squad lists?

It might have been a tad much. I might try using a single sniper team. 2 protons might be good. Really tactical and fun list.
