  1. It's "herself" not "itself" or "himself" but that has already been cleared up it seems ;-) And a rematch proposal have been made. good sportsmanship
  2. I got the tip from a mate: If you want to keep the edges/rim of the dials, templates and range ruler from flaying or getting fuzzy then make a mixture of PVA glue and water (aprox. 2-3 parts glue to 1 part water) and then apply the solution with a small brush on the sides/edges of the items. You want to see a slight or slow absorption but certainly no swelling of the cardboard. Any surplus can easily be wiped of and won't leave any traces. Apply once or twice (of course do not do the dials assembled but take them apart before gluing) and let the pieces dry in between/after applying the solution. You should then see and feel a smooth and hardened edge than will be much more resistant than before. I did all my dials after having done the clear plastic bookcover wrap and it worked fine but I would think it would be even better to do it in reverse order. Could also be done on the base inserts for sturdiness
  3. Hi there, this is just a fun/quick overview of the combined fleet from 6 of the 15 members in the X-Wing group that I am part of here in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is roughly 3/7th Rebel ships and 4/7th Imperiel ships
  4. I would recommen these: http://www.combatwombatminiatures.com/star_fortress.htm
  5. Just don't dogfight with them but have circle th fights, especially with th MF
  6. On the bus on my way to pick up my Slave-1, 3 A-Wings and 3 TIE-Interceptors
  7. I've preordered 2 but might buy 1 more since we sometimes like to play 150-200 points games, so it's solely because I want to be able to field ie. 3X-Wings, a couple Y-Wings and 3 A-Wings or the Millenium Falcon. Possibly there will also be campaigns/scenarios with more than 2 A-Wings. But I would never go for 4 A-Wings in a 100 point game
  8. Sorry for the bad formatting of the image sizes, I will improve this in tuture postings, but for now just click on the images to see them in full size
  9. Here are the proper links to the images Forensicus said: The first image is from Round 2 where the Tempest pilot just managed (luckily) to stay outside the firing arcs of all 3 enemy ships. At the same time most of my ships were still able to fire back at my opponent, a very critical and almost pivotal point so early in the game. Especially beautiful was the fact that I wasn't forced to fire at Biiggs. For some reason Maulers ship isn't shown in the image, but he was placed somewhere between Tempest and Howlrunner The next image is from a couple of rounds later: Biggs had been blown out of the sky so now there was free target choice for me. Howlrunner had been ioned straight into the asteroid (from which she succumbed in the following round), but more noteworthy is the tight flying formation that my Imperial forces managed to pull off; take a look at the VERY close Koiograns made by Tempest Squadron Pilot and Mauler Mithel. This was immediately followed by Darths Vaders 3 Right Turn going in front of them; thus perfectly positioning the trio for an intense firng in the backs of the Rebel Scum, I chose the Y-wingand I got it down withe 2 rounds while it desperately tried (but failed) to ionize me After finishing off the Y-Wing it was now a matter of taking down Garven. He had done a Koiogran turn and was now heading straight back in the dogfight, but luckily I manged to play a defensive block with Mauler Mithel; Mauler parked his TIE.fighter right in front of (but not in base contact with) Garven and thus blocked Darth Vader who was flying while texting and hadn't noticed neither tha fact that he would have hit Garven if he hadn't hit Mauler first. Once again I got to attack with all 3 ships before my opponent thanks to Darth's Swarm Tactics to the Tempest Squadron Pilot. It took a couple rounds more (and another good defensive block bu Mauler Mithel) before Garven exploded in outer space, not managing to take any of my ships with him in death. I must send my thanks to the dice gods (strange thing to say as an atheist) and also to my extremely nice and pleasant opponent mrfroggies; his sportsmanship and patience was a stellar example which is hard to follow. 10. Hi there, just wanted to post a couple of images from my first vassalengine X-Wing game. My 100 points squad consisted of Darth Vader, Swarm Tactics and Concussion Missiles Howlrunner, Swarm Tactics Mauler Mithel, Marksmanship Tempest Squadron Pilot, Cluster Missiles The first image is from Round 2 where the Tempest pilot just managed (luckily) to stay outside the firing arcs of all 3 enemy ships. Probably so, but there would have to be tachyons and relativistic speeds involved. And speaking of relativistic speeds, where are our ships? I hope FFG didn't let Threepio talk to the navicomputer on the delivery freighter again… last time it got suicidal and threatened to jump us into the Maw unless we shut him up. Even worse: I think Arthur Dent might have snuck in and made the planning computers figure out how to make a cup of tea ;-)
  12. Almost here!!! Almost here!!! Stay on target!!!

I say turreted ships because if you don't have a turret, while you are busy turning around they just start korigran and keep you in their fire arc. The big problem is that you may never have the space to pull it off, either astroids or enemy ships getting in your way. I completly agree. After they koiogran they get two or three turns of shooting at you with no response unless your a Y-wing with an Ion cannon. I agree with you points, but as I also wrote in my original posting I might think it would only (or mostly) be useful as an opening maneuver. Furthermore, it must be noted that Y-Wings can't do sharp 1 turns. So a turreted ship doesn't seem to be an option right now. I have tested making the same maneuver using sharp 2 turns instead of sharp 1 turns, but even with the Y-Wings starting at the VERY edge of the deployment zone (Range 1 or 10 cm deep) it is cutting it extremely close if you try to pull it off, the Y-Wings base will almost certainly grace and most likely exceed the back edge of the deployment zone and thus go down in a horrible inferno :-( Anyways, I will keep fiddling about with my templates and most likely do more posts in here, hopefully stirring up some debate and ideas. May the Force be with us all
  16. I just noticed the ship icon and the explenation on the right side of the "Upcoming" page. Seems like Wave 2 is on the cargo ships heding out for distribution soon!!
  17. Panic said: Yeah, This is incredibly disappointing. I also think the FFG need to accept responsibility for these delays. Wave 1 was late and the UK has had horrible stock issues. I placed a preorder for about $100 of wave 2 ships back in October thinking I’d receive them by X-mas. Kessel run in the UK was a mess with stores keeping the prizes or not running the event at all! So wave two has been fully spoiled online for three months, I know pretty much everything about wave two. So the fun in opening the package is gone, my pre-order will hold no surprises. At this point it would be nice if FFG put something out for X-wing. Online missions? ‘we are sorry we f***** up have some missions’ If it was anything other than StarWars I’d have sold my copy by now so can invest my time and money in a game that is respected by it’s creators. Incredibly disappointed. Panic… I sincerely hope that you reported the guilty stores to FFG. I know of one incident here in Denmark where a store simply put the Wave 2 ship prizes up for sale to selected customers. Such a stupid thing to do since the potential/certain reaction and negative impression this gives in these times with FB etc. and in a small community. I will certainly not be buying any stuff from them.
  18. wikkid_devil said: dbmeboy said: I just saw on the Upcoming page that the wave 2 ships are now expected in March instead of February. I guess this is a small enough additional delay that FFG didn't feel like posting anything to the News section like they did when it was pushed back to February, but if any of you hadn't seen - now you know. Yeah I noticed when expected dispatch dates from UK suppliers jumped to 29th March. Not impressed. If I dumped unexplained delays after previous delays on my customers (and tried to blame the manufacturer) I would soon be out of a job for poor planning and poor demand forcasting, and my clients would find alternative suppliers. I guess retail has different rules, … Which UK retailers? Could you provide link to their pages?
  19. Kaxel Vofer said: I use with Darth Vader, and Markmanship, for my it works good, greettings. I agree with you, having Darth Vader with TL and Markmanship in same round does work well for Cluster Missiles since he can use Markmanship on both rolls of the attacks with 3 Attack dices. Would also work for Marek Steele eventhough he needs 2 rounds to aquire the same benefit (i.e. getting the TL in one round and then using Markmanship when he fires the Cluster Missiles) I haven't done any proper odds calculations to back my claim up, but I guess someone (with more stats skills than me) could easily do that

  21. This is the Crazy 8 Maneuver idea I just came up with after I fooled around a bit with the scanned copies of my movement templates in Pages. I honestly don't know if this will/would ever work, or actually I would think it might be useful if one needed/wanted to draw in the opponent (possibly forcing him/her through the asteroids) whil still keeping your formation with swarm tactics etc. http://www.gratisimage.dk/image-6B71_5116BE4E.jpg Inputs/impressions??
  22. Check the Ion Token reference card for total clarification
  23. No you can not do that. Same thing with Luke skywalker. They are both unique characters which is covered by the rules saying that you can't field two ships with the same unique pilot on the one side (not even as pilot/co-pilot) eventhough the force is strong with Luke he can only be one place at a time
  24. Acebaur said: Kaxel Vofer said: radiskull said: Kaxel Vofer said: And this ability apply to all ships in your team???, because the word you do not appear in the ability, greettings. But the word "your" does. It applies only to Maarek Steele's attacks. The rule said that only if the word "You", not "Yours", by grammar you are correct, but by others expiriences not always the most logical answer is right, grettings. Yeah well regardless of "you" or "your" right below that part in the core book it says "Abilities on Ship cards cannot affect other ships unless explicitly specified by the ability." so, no, Maarek's ability only applies to himself I'm no grammar expert nut in this case "your" refers to "attack" (singular), since the sentence "When you attack deals a face up…." doesn't make any sense at all so it is "your attack" that deals the damage (like in the sentence "When your dog s***s on the pavement" compared to "when you dog s*** on the pavement"
  25. mrfroggies said: I see your problem. You may want to put a chit or marker on his card in that covers an action that he's already done to try and help you remember what actions he's taken. I'm sure there's lots of little things along those lines that you can do to help with that. Just pick a system and stay consistant and you should be fine. Good point and good idea. Can't wait to fly him into battle and test his abilities. I wasso fortunate to win a Millenium Falcon at a local Kessel Run for 2nd prize, but none of my Wave 1 friends wants to play against it ;-) Thanks for your inputs, cleared up the matter
