The R5Don4 Star II reacted to Wiredin in All the expansions (AT-ST and more)
FFG just made my wallet cry.
I wonder if FFG started a loyalty program where if you buy so much product they will help fund your divorce lawyer.

The R5Don4 Star II reacted to heychadwick in Another 'I'm out' thread.
The store championship season is almost over, right? We have a break after that, right? Yeah, 40k is stealing a lot of thunder from the not so serious players.
It can be hard, but you got to put the work in to build the casual games. It can take a couple of months of effort before you really start to see some results.
As it is now with HotAC, we sometimes hope to get just 3 of us to get a quick game in, but every time we start to play, it always ends up being 6 players. Oh, it's fun, but it takes twice as long and gets brutal with so many enemy. I almost wish someone else would print the game out and bring it every week so we could have two tables going. I did get back to actually painting my 3D printed HotAC station and mines today.

The R5Don4 Star II reacted to Slugrage in Call me crazy, but I really like where X Wing is right now
There's two core types of players in the game, or in pretty much any game system. The standard beer & pretzels gamers who I'd guess make up about 70% to 80% of the community (in a random off the top of my head kind of number) and the balance who are hard-core tournament/competitive players who make up the balance. The minority of the player base generally is also the loudest group when it comes to talking/yelling/arguing about what's broken or off-balance. They're the ones who'll find the broken combos and exploit them to no end.
In my local FLGS community, we have never had as many excited and enthusiastic players as we do now. There's almost no one in the local group that will go to anything above a store championship. We have in the past, but we find that it's too intense, too much nerd testosterone, and too many people who'd rather win than have fun. So we just decided, without really any discussion, that we just simply don't bother going. We hold store championships, invite players who we know are much better from other nearby communities who we know will probably win the day. Instead, we host our own participatory tournaments with our own rules, and we have an amazing time. Sure, someone wins and someone loses, but it's not a cutthroat competition to be the best nerd pushing toy plastic spaceships around a map. It's just fun.
Fun. Try it some time. You may find it fun!

Only two jumpmasters (neither with mindlink) and one mindlink list in the top 4! We'll definitely have Rebel versus Scum rematch for the final! Nand threatening to defend his championship!
I've been very happy with the past two top fours. Now if only the Imps could make a better showing...

The R5Don4 Star II reacted to MajorJuggler in 2016/2017 Regionals Season Results
As of Worlds 2015, FFG's software was incapable of telling who wins if the game is 100-100. It would treat it as a draw. The first time this mattered was with the Hounds Tooth title: if the Hound's Tooth Z-95 was the only thing left, then that player has clearly won, but both sides could have destroyed 100 points. Hence the addition of the 101-99 rule. Now it is actually a fairly common occurrence with Final Salvos, but I have no idea if their software has been updated, or how it handles this scenario. Cryodex can handle a 100-100 win, so we always just use that because it's better than FFG's software.

Lol looking through the Ottawa lists someone got 3 wins with Dormits & 3 OGPs. That would be a hilarious start to the game. A wall of 3 sea cows backed by an Upsilon. Props to Jackie Luong.
