  1. Star Trek promotes civil advancement and human potential.

Star Wars is Rebels fighting wars with hot rods that serve the human need when called for, against a conformist regime with strict behavior principles and a complete disregard for the joy of life. Also, in the backdrop, for those more serious, there is this metaphysical Force that regards your intent to grow beyond the more basic role in life, introduces you to scarier secrets, and leads you to a position of much greater impact. (I liked episodes 4-6 more, can you tell?)

Don't get me wrong, I like both and each have their place.

  2. That would be wonderful.  But I wonder where these people are getting their information.  Is there another source of info for approximate arrival times other than the Upcoming page?  If so, why aren't we seeing it? :(  According to that page, they are still on the boat.

Also, the Scum and Villainy ships will have to be on the boat by the end of next week to see a chance in butt of getting them Q4 2014!

  3. If you noticed the change in the last 40 days, must have been some chain reaction that one person started and another got in on, then someone else posts a troll thread to keep blood up because that's what they like to see, etc.

It's isn't everyone, just the loudest ones.

The people who want to post meaningful threads and have meaningful discussions (or at least light hearted ones that aren't trolling) have to do so around the interference.

  4. It's only natural that a game this popular starts to ignite threads like the ones you mentioned.  There seems to be some crucial point of popularity and mainstream where influential trolls take root.

I just avoid the threads that I know will anger me and don't care too personally about whether or not my posts are taken seriously.  When I really need to be heard, I go elsewhere.

  5. I was doing okay till i hit the first gunboat mission but i'm getting tagged by alot of missiles, modern games are way easier and it's dulled my once razor sharp gaming skills, i might after drop it down to normal...

But it makes me want a gunboat in X-wing all the more.

The ease of modern games makes me very very sad.  It seems to make games more mainstream they have to make them easier which deprives the intermediates of a challenge.

  6. If anyone gets the games up and running, can you please report on whether the music is iMuse MIDI, or just John Williams sound clips?

    Thanks!

I'll be buying them anyway tonight, but I'm curious!

Also, I heard that emplacement turrets in TIE Fighter sometimes didn't fire on you because of an assembly bug that required a certain processor when run on an x64 system.  I wonder if that has been fixed...

  7. I had high hopes for this game.  Hopefully in the future I don't make the same mistake.  It's a shame when a game is marketed and shared a certain way and it doesn't really fulfill that vision at all.  Trying to avoid those cash grabs.  But I guess someone has to be the guinea pig and inform the rest of us.  Down with evil corporations!

  8. I look forward to the Scum ships.  They should add a distinct new flavor and psychology to the game.  Small similarities are inevitable.  After all, the ships all use the same stat figures and maneuver dials.  Similarities will be noticed in at least some fundamental way.

My only real concern is the upgrade cards trivializing prior ones, but I have no basis from which to be concerned.  I won't know until I try them out.

  9. So, with the stormtrooper helmets and the TIE Fighter, clearly Episode VII will cover the attempted resurgence of the Imperials.  Or... maybe they never went away and have always been a threat?

All I want to know is which character am I expected to feel a commonness with this time!

I was in grade 6th to 11th for Episodes 4-6, so I went right along with Luke, equating his advancement in the Force with my getting older.  Empire Strikes Back taught me that adults that knew you as a child will haze you violently before they regard you equally, since you dare learn their secrets.

  10. I've used mine for 3 games so far.  It isn't something we do often, and usually only when we want something different but still XWing.  Unfortunately we're not playing XWing as often anymore, so even an epic game is much less likely now.

Short of that, I doubt I would have bought them just for the upgrade cards I can use for the smaller ships.  But I'm glad I have them.
