  1. I use the 5231, or it's evolution 3952.  I carefully cut the plastic molding they came in so I can lay the ships across the openings and still have room underneath for tiles and bases.  Given that arrangement, it feels very secure.

  2. I don't have a lot of experience with the game, but I have tried an experiment using a low skill  2X 2Y squad against a higher skill 1TA 1Howlrunner 4 Obsidian TIE squad.  The rebels lost again and again.  When I halved the squads down to 1X 1Y against a 1TA 2 Obisidian TIE squad, the rebels won much more easily.

What seems to ring true is skilled flying (denying your opponents a shot while you are able to shoot) wins the game.  Frankly I don't know how easy that is in a 2:1 game, but in experiment above I've been trying, it would give the rebels a chance to beat the swarm.

  3. I poked around the rules forum, even tried the search function (which just spun for me) and didn't see this discussed, so apologies if I'm asking an addressed question.

When two ship bases don't have parallel edges (that is, the bases are turned so that one corner of a base is clearly the closest point to the other base), it's pretty obvious where you should place the ruler for measuring distance and determining if the shot is obstructed by an object like an asteroid.

However, if two ship base edges are parallel (that is, there are multiple closest points since the two edges are parallel), how do you decide where to place the ruler to determine if it is obstructed by an asteroid?

Thanks for any linkies or clarification.

You'll want 41x63mm for the small cards.

Not sure about the larger ones, but I use 2 5/8" x 3 3/4" for mine.  2.5"x3.5" might be ok.

I ordered the smaller ones here. http://maydaygames.com/card-sleeves

I had experience with the Premium grade 50 pack 41x63mm cards.

Today I just received some 100pks of the 41x63mm regular sleeves.  They are EXACTLY 41mm across, so the small cards don't actually fit in them.  That's disappointing.

Apologies to those who ordered the 100pm 41x63mm because of my link, I hope you have better luck than I did.

  5. I was able to pick up my Falcons and Slave Is from the apartment office today.

I spent the morning cataloging the inventory of cards, tokens, etc. and trying to get them to fit with my Wave 1 ships in my tackle box.  I upgraded to a Plano 3952 from Amazon (which is really just two Plano 5231s melted together).

I had to perform a little modification to make room for the large bases and the ship and bomb tokens, but it looks like I'll have room for the AWings and TIE Interceptors when they arrive next week.

    Yay!

  6. Hopefully that doesn't mean A-Wing and TIE Interceptor orders made sometime past 1/19/13 were too late to have their orders filled with the first order.

I'll be mashing my Account page tomorrow to watch for that order to ship.  Let's hope.

  7. Bah, it appears I can't edit an older post.

As I said earlier, my MiniatureMarket 1/26/13 order (2 Falcons and 2 Slave Is) shipped, estimated arrival 3/1!

My 1/28/13 order (3 A-Wings and 3 Interceptors) as of the end of the same day (2/27/13) has not shipped yet.  :(

  8. Seeing the Falcon model pic from GenCon last year is what got me interested in X-Wing.

I still want one.  Along with the other Wave 2 ships (even more so after seeing the unboxing videos) - they look like they will significantly add to the game.

So count me among the ones whose interest is not affected by the early Kessel runs.

Once we get over this hump of the delay and now rumors of partial shipments, all will be right again.

Anyone else notice the Upcoming page has changed to Now Shipping?

    Yes.  Yes I have.

Perhaps that is why my pre-order now says "Processing Pre-Order", although I don't know if that means they actually have the product yet.

  10. The XWing and TIE Fighter expansions have pilot cards and some upgrade cards that are not in the Core set.

XWing has Wedge, an awesome pilot card - and a couple astromechs that you don't get in the core set.

I think the TIE expansion has Howlrunner, one of the TIE pilot favorites.
