We tried the new ships with proxies for the last couple weeks. I can't say I have strong complaints. The TIE Phantom is utterly a glass cannon and must be flown carefully. The TIE Defender is a great dogfighter under the correct conditions. The Z95 is cheap and has some handy options (Blount + Ion missile, wee) I have yet to fly an EWing but I anticipate good times. Other than that, I get all excited for the new plastic, but once I get all the new cards and ships cataloged and put away, the excitement is suddenly over and meh

Upcoming Rebel Aces (sorry, this is a build because it's what provides the combo): - Dutch Vander (shares a target lock as an action) - Wes Janson (strips a focus or evade from defender when attacking) - Keyan Farlander (BWing, can remove stress when attacking and use it as a focus) with Opportunist (accept stress to add 1 attack die if defender has no evade or focus) and Heavy Laser Cannon (4 attack at range 2-3) So Dutch gives Keyan a target lock, Wes strips a focus or evade off a target, and Keyan attacks with 5 dice with target lock+focus combo every round. I've been trying this combo and it is a very. nasty. squad.

You might have gotten a higher price when stores keeping ships in stock was a problem. I'm not sure how much of a problem it is lately, but if MiniMarket is any indication, TIE Interceptors are the hot property if people don't want Imperial Aces.

Considering angle of attack and speed of the enemy ship across your firing line would slow things down too much in my opinion. XWing is known for being fast to play. The more you have to think about math and angles and speeds, the less fun and accessible the game would be.

I think pre-ordering helps MM decide how many ships they want to order from FFG. Some brick shops allow pre-ordering but they don't always receive enough to fill them. I guess it's just a matter of finding a shop that has a high probably of filling your pre-order and getting them quickly. Honestly, it varies from release to release.

It happened! Wave 4 shipped from MiniMarket! I just can't believe it! (I pre-ordered on 3/8) I expect it to arrive Friday night, which means I'll have it in hand Saturday morning. Then I get to paint the side of the cloak tokens light blue! Or maybe black.

I usually demo a 20 minute game with 1 XWing against 2 TIE Fighters and let everyone watch, then do a full 100pt game.

I predict the Z95s will be fodder with only 2 agility and no option to evade.

Do you know what day you preordered? I found my preorder confirmation email back from late march (I believe it was the first week the preorders were available). I would think that I would have gotten a shipping notification by now, but maybe they just had an incredible amount of ppl order the day or 2 before me. I still believe the actual day/time of shipping is partly determined by how soon you pre-ordered but is also influenced by aliens.

Around $800 on core sets and expansions and dice, maybe $100 on various tackle boxes, $40 on a nice mat, $16 on cheap felt mats, $50 on paint pens, contact paper, mouse pads for various upgrades. So... yeah! Price of a single 4-day visit to GenCon with a hotel stay and meals...

I would imagine the greatest impacts would be on players who use blocking to deny actions to make enemy ships less powerful or easier to kill, and people would be less careful about how they fly because collisions don't deny anything crucial. So swarm flying would require less thought.
