If Runewars takes off, its almost guaranteed that some third party outfit will make metal or wood runetokens (in addition to FFG making something as part of their OP kits). You typically imagine runes being etched on stone and other weighty materials.
I can deal with (hopefully heavy duty) cardboard tokens for a couple months until I can upgrade. And I will upgrade, oh yes.

The demo guy mentioned that the final components would be better. I don't know if that applies to the rune tokens, but I can hope.

As a data point of disagreement, I'm an old minis guy (started with WFB in 1993, never looked back) and I've got a group of guys just chomping at the bit for this.
We're okay with two starting factions, unpainted, range rulers, and the FFG approach in general. We've all done X-Wing and Armada, so we are familiar with how the company rolls.

There's footage of a demo that explains some of this. There are short side steps, or shifts, to allow backing up or moving to the side. Also a reform to allow you to pivot a unit around its center to face Many direction.

Almost exactly my thought when I heard the news. FFG is doing WFB? Sold!

I enjoyed watching the finals last year, which is why I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed an announcement. Sounds like they haven't made one yet.

Anyone planning on streaming the Armada tournament at Gencon this year?

The only reasonable course of action is to throw all your figures away and then post about it. Repeatedly.

Why am I not surprised Nelson stopped by to crap on people in this thread, too? Seriously man, not everyone lives up to your exacting standards. . .
Does it really come as a surprise to learn that AdmiralNelson expects every man to do his duty (buying mats)?

Mike! You should totally travel and go over the top with it. Make a cloak out of store champ plaques, have a guy behind you playing the Imperial March on a boombox when you walk into a store...etc.

Netrunner
Thrones 2.0 (3 cores already paid for on preorder)
And I'll be all in on L5R
-
FFG, when you release L5R at Gencon 2017, can you, would you, pretty please with a cherry on top make it a full release, instead of the usual "we brought in 500 copies and they were all spoken for in the first five minutes" operation?
If you do, I promise I'll just hand over my wallet as soon as I get to your booth.

Hail! Hail!
Great news FFG, I might as well just sign over all my discretionary funds to you guys.

A little fun fact: we found that in italian rules the squadrons activation is within medium range, but in the english rules is at
. Not knowing which of the two was right we used the english version. My book says:
"[squadron Command]
Activate a number of friendly squadrons...that are at close- medium range"
(Pg. 3)
Thanks for the report.

As the title says. I'm interested in player's direct experience (please, no theory), in defeating 300 point Imperial lists featuring 2 or more Gladiators with Assault Concussion Missiles with Screed commanding.
What ships & upgrades did you take, how did you maneuver, and what objectives did you use? Was it in a tournament match or a friendly game? Did you fight 2 Glads and a Vic, or something else?
This is the Imperial list that's sent me back to the drawing board...any actual play experience you'd like to share will be appreciated.

I have to leave at 2pm this Saturday, but there should be people there playing all day.
-
A few of us should be at Game Nite again on Wednesday for Netrunner (and Warmachine). I'm generally the last to arrive, around 7pm, and we'll go until 10pm or so. Stop by if you can.

-
The guys I know would love a tournament, but there's a catch; most of the fellas I play with have kids/families, which can make it difficult for us to attend events.
-
There is a small casual group that plays at Game Nite, usually on Wednesdays. We'll probably be a bit disrupted for the next week or so due to Thanksgiving. There may also be some games available on Saturdays, but I haven't had much weekend time for the last month, so I don't know what the crowd is like currently.
I'd heard that the St. Charles Fantasy Shop had a pretty good AGoT crowd, due to having a rep/demo guy there frequently, so I half-thought Netrunner might get a strong following there too, but if they're playing, they're doing it quietly.

I have not heard of any store in the area running a league or having a tournament scheduled yet.

How many factions are required for this game to succeed?

The answer, at least initially, had better be two.
Long term, I'd say 6-8.
