I am going to go crazy with it and try this.
PS4 Striker: Title, Expertise
PS4 Striker: Title, Expertise
Oicunn: Title, Swarm Leader, Mara Jade, Ion Projector
I know it's not the greatest. But I like the idea of a 5 attack 360 shot. And with Experise on the strikers they can put out some damage too. All in theory anyways.

I faced a list with all 3 of them with titles and fearlessness and a z with VT's. They whiped me pretty big. I totally under estimated them and they took me out pretty quick.
-
I tend to buy one of each. Then if I feel I am going to use multiple I buy an extra of the small ships. I will only be getting 1 Rebel tie. But 2 strikers for sure. Maybe 2 Quads. They just seem fun.

Been flying this off and on. Very fun control list.
Binarye: BMST
Ventress: PTL, Gyro, Title, Tactican
Zuckess: PTL, BMST, Title, EU, Onyo, Tractor Beam, FCS
Go to list is this.
Kenkirk: Palp, Isard, EU, PTL
Stele: X7, Juke, E MKII

I was getting around 10 or so games a week, more if a tournament was happening. But it has gone down to about 3 a week. Unless I make it to a tournament on the weekend.

Sorry everyone for coming across as a troll I dont mean to just have trouble trying to get my point across
I guess from my other games being a jerk. is how u play when you want to win. I guess I have a lot of bad thoughts and idea's of how games should be played. For fun and balance where no matter what you use our take one should have a good chance of winning.
Also I kind of get cards now their used to make ship better our to boost ships abilities
Now I just struggling with kill ships and trying to get a nuff damage thru to hurt them. And how long games take because we play till one side is dead/destroyed
Have played 40k for 16 years now I understand your apprehension with how people play. I have been playing Xwing for about a year and a half now. I have nothing but good things to say about the Xwing community. I have played in local tournaments as well as a regional. Everyone was nothing but the kindest people to play against. Don't let a bad experience ruin other experiences with other games.
Building better lists will help you get the kills faster. Practice and more practice will help you fly better. It took me a little while to really learn the ins and outs of the game. There are so many levels of the games tactics and strategies.
it helps to build a list and stick with it as well. Helps you to learn different scenarios that might happen while flying that ship. Trying different upgrades on the same ship can change how the ship flys. For example. My Favorite ship to fly is a B-wing. I fly Farlander with Push the limit, Advance sensors and Engine upgrade. Advance sensors lets me do actions before I actually move. So I can barrel roll or boost to get into different locations then I normally would. With push the limit I can do two actions before I move. And the stress is not an issue as Farlanders ability lets me treat that as a focus. This is a good example how upgrades change how a ship interacts on the table. hopefully this gives you a bit of an idea on ship building. There are so many ways to fly a ship. Find what works with you and practice with it.

My last game lasted 2hrs before my brother killed all my ships and yes a think at this point ships should be able to be shot down in one round of combat
So I am curious, how do you play the game?
Like write out the process of a turn between you and your brother. The only way we can get you to understand is to understand what you might be doing wrong. If there is something fundamentally wrong, then we need to figure that out.

If you are doing this. Then you are changing how points interact with each other. What about ships that don't have the secondary weapon slots? Talk about WAAC. You complain about things not being even yet you are trying to change rules to make them more powerful and not balanced. You might want to rethink that.I guess I really dont see it because a y wing should all ready be making 2 attacks one for turret and one for ship but nope you can't do that
That a house rule me and my brother been toying with is if a ship has a primary attack and get another attack from missile's turret cannon etc it should be able to do both attack's

OK explain then how stresshog works and why it's good to be stressing my self
The stress hog is about stressing ships that don't want to be stressed. Example would be an arc dodger, someone with PTL or anyone that wants to do actions really.
You don't need to do action with the stress hog. (Ywing: stressbot, BTL title.) him getting stress really isn't that big of a deal because he is support for your other ships. Stopping an arc dodger from dodging arcs make them easier to kill. Ships that can't do actions tend to get damaged easier.
Don't forget the TLT! For that sweet double stress,s triple attack.
But yes, you've summed it up perfectly. The Stresshog is there to shut down the actions and abilities of your opponent. A Fel who can't PTL is a tokenless (read: dead) Fel. A Manaroo who can't PTL is a Manaroo who isn't passing TLs and Focus to her squad mates.
But if you're playing without upgrades, combos, or actions - and - you're typical flying style is to joust and K-turn, I can see why you wouldn't see the benefits of a Stresshog in your squad, as it can't K-Turn and would take a few turns to get back into the action.
I knew I was brain farting on something.
Stressbot has been on Nein Numb with Snap Shot as of late for me. So good.

The way I read it is the friendly ships have to be in arc of defender within range 1-3. They can be at any range of the friendly ship.

Edit: Fixed.

First I dont want to be a comptive player which I call being WAAC jerk player.
But I trying to understand how and why combo's work and only why you can only use x combos.
Now with my list I dont see why I want to stress fel as I find stress not a good thing as limits what you can do
And I like abilities that add more attack dice as its hard to kill stuff
In my honest opinion there are different types of competitive players. Those that are WAAC. Those are the ones that try to break the rules to get the win. Then there are competitive players that use the rules the best to their abilities. I have never seen the first while playing Xwing. The game is pretty well balanced and there is little to no need to try and break the rules to win. But the Xwing players do use the rules giving out to us to get the win. For example. Giving stress to Soontir. Because well he is designed to get stress to get a free focus. That free focus can be the difference of him living or dying. His ship is also designed to arc dodge. Again using the rules set out, not breaking them.
Ok let's try this. You add a hull upgrade to Soontir. Is that being competitive? Hell is adding any upgrade to a ship being competitive? Well if you think about it, it is. You are trying to make your pilot survive longer. which to me is a bit competitive. Are you breaking rules or even bending them? No, you are just trying to make Soontir more survivable. Well you can also do that by arc dodging, giving him stress and using his ability to his full effectiveness.
Ultimately it is your choice to play how you want. But I don't know anyone that plays to lose. Everyone is a little bit competitive in some way or the other. It's your choice how far you take that competitiveness. Whether it's a WAAC player or someone that plays to the best of their ability and tries to win.

Newguy1984: what would a list of yours look like? Same with your brothers list.

Black squadron tie swarm. Ship ends within one and gets shot by 6 snap shots.
Audio Weasel reacted to this -
I only use Stele now. I tried Rhyad and found she is to predictable. Vessery works better with the D title IMHO.
Although I don't use them that often anyways. I tend to like swarms more. Or Decimator builds so only have room for another ship usually.

I lost to a Rey and Norra list.
Norra: PTL, EU, BB-8, Kyle, Title
Rey: Kannan, Finn, VI, Title(new)
Not sure if anything else was on Rey. They both put out a ton of damage. Seemed to work pretty good. But although if I played it again I would fly a bit differently.
Also flee against a Poe and Rey list.
Poe: BB-8, PTL, Title, AutoThrusters
Rey: Finn, Kannan, Title(New), Inertial Dampener, maybe something else.
I won against this pretty handidly. He ran Poe on a rock and killed him. Then it was just Rey. I had already played against her so I knew what he was trying to do with her. Made it easier.

I get the idea behind targeting astromech on Nien. But is that really the best? He only has 3 moves that are Red. And with PTL. If you don't get within 1 you won't lose that stress so you can't do a red move the following turn. Just seems counter productive, unless I am missing something.I like the Blue Squadron idea.
Nien, PTL, Targeting Astromech, AT, Primed Thrusters
Snap Wexley, Adaptability, AT, Primed Thrusters
Jess Pava, M9-G8, AT, Pattern Analyzer
Jess maintains a TL on Snap allowing him to modify his attack. Nien's TL is covered by his Targeting Astro, Jess can modify her own in formation. They can all Tallon Roll + Boost (such a useful thing o be able to do) and they can all modify dice after doing red maneouvres.
Even better if you can proc Nien's ability off a T-roll.

R3 doesn't work with TLT. It is primary weapon only. If it did it might at least have a niche.I have used him on Dutch with TLT. Works pretty good. Of course it's not the most competitive of bots.
Well d**n. Thanks.

I am also hoping to give Nien a test flight this weekend but I was looing at this:
Nien
Snap Shot
R3A2
Pattern analizer
Integrated
Anyone tried this yet, wondering if its a one trick pony and if be better off with ptl.
I do like the idea of snap shot and R3-A2. I might take VT's so you can get into other positions to maximize the snap shot action.
-
I have been running this for a week now.
Numb: PTL, R3-A2, Pattern Analyzer, VT's, Black one
Biggs: R2-F2, IA
Dutch: R3 Astromech, TLT, VT's.
It's not super competitive. But it's fun to fly. Dutch helps Biggs actually hit. R3 helps after Biggs is dead. Numb just flys around getting rid of Enemy TL's and stressing people out while hopefully not being stressed himself. The Analyzer helps when he K's or T-turns so he can boost or barrel rolls into range one then receives a stress and removes it.

I'm going to go Hounds Tooth. I didn't buy that one until I insisted on owning at least 1 of everything.
You mean the flying stapler. Lol. Yeah it's an ugly ship for sure. Think that's my vote.
-
It really depends on how you want Ventress to work. I feel Ventress with Latts is a bit more defense. While Tactican is more offensive.
With Tactican you can stress two different ships as well. One from the mobile arc and one from the front arc if you decide to shot from the front arc. Which can help out the Zed's with their BMST's.
I personally like Tactican more. Helps out with the title as well. Double stressing and tractering a ship. Really good control aspect. Especially if you can get Onyo on another ship. I run PTL over VI though. Which really helps Latts as well. You can evade and focus for maximum evade chance. Or target lock and evade to have both offense and defense.
Either way she is fun to fly.

Tie Striker 'fix'
in X-Wing
Posted
I have flown 2 PS4 strikers with expertise. With Oicann and swarm leader. I won both games. Expertise gives me action economy in a way. I take an evade and go from there. Oicann throws out 5-6 dice with target lock. Then having 2 3 dice attacks with basically a focus. Yes please.
I think they are great additions. Excited to see what else people do with them.
