Scorpion is still T1, they just have a more difficult match up against Dragon which makes them seem weaker, but if they can avoid or mitigate the Resto they do very well still.  Unicorn is definitely on the up swing but I wouldn't rate them T1 yet.  They are safely in the T2 category with everyone but Lion who have fallen to T3 since Unicorn are in the process of stealing their shtick.

I think you are being a bit too sensitive.
Just read through the article and no where does the guest writer claim ownership of the rule. It is referenced as being " a fundamental X-Wing concept, and many among the game’s community assume that all players understand it".
I don't see this as different than any of the other Flight Academy articles which are generally aimed at newer players looking to get involved in 2.0. For Example Zach Bunn did not come up with the 4 pillars of X-wing himself. Same applies for this article.

This reminds me of the game '504'. For those who don't know it: It's named '504' because the game consists of nine rule modules that can be combined in different ways to create a new game. So, a game of '987' is slightly different from a game of '789' or '986', while a game of '123' would be very different.
It presented an interesting problem for reviewers, because how do rate such a game? You can rate a specific combination of modules you played, but the game as a whole?
You would have to play a lot of different combinations to get a good idea of how a certain combination of modules might play without actually trying it.
For 'Discover' I'd actually think, it's not as difficult to compare gameplay. At least everyone's playing with the same ruleset!
And if the designers have done a good job, I think the chance to get a 'dud' that isn't fun to play should be really low. Conversely, it should be extremely rare to get a copy that for some reason is significantly more fun than the 'average'. Personal preferences would very likely have a larger impact on a reviewers rating, as the discussion over 'desert' vs. 'arctic' in a different thread already illustrated.

Sure, I don't even hope for that world.  I just hope for a world in which the community lets FFG know that they see what they did, and it isn't cool.

I think the difference of opinion in our particular view, is that you see it as if AB was in the conversion it wouldn't be in the core.  I don't see it as one or the other.  It was ALWAYS in the core.  When they put it in the Fang, they should have also included it in the conversion.

New to the game and playing scum: you get AB from the core, and 1 for every Fang you own.  (extra silly, because as the topic of this thread states, Fangs can't even use AB except for the Quick builds)

Existing player: you get AB from the core and if you feel you need more wait for other wave conversions or buy a ship you already own.

And the analogy is more -
"Tom is bringing ice cream. Jerry is also bringing Ice cream"
"Oh good, I told a friend that he should come over as well for all the ice cream!"
"Jerry doesn't have ice cream for you.. you've known Jerry for years, he only gives it to new friends."

And then in this thread -
"But you said Jerry would have ice cream"
"What is your problem!?  I already said Tom had ice cream.  Why isn't that enough for you.  so greedy!"
"... just, you know, you said Jerry would have some too."
"He never said Jerry would have Ice cream"
"GOD! if you need ice cream so bad why don't you just go buy some?"
"I don't want to buy some, I just planned on Jerry having it, because you said he would."
"Well if you hate Jerry so much, you could always buy an ice cream machine and make you own, did you think of that? Also Butch will probably bring ice cream by in like 6 months, you can buy it from him.  Besides, who needs that much ice cream, it's not even that good."

Ignithas got a reaction from Gilarius in X-Wing completists: will you buy everything?
Don't understand me wrong, I don't complain that I need the Core Set. I bought a lot of ships for cheap: Small ships like X-Wings, Ties, E-Wings, HWK etc. for 5€, Ships like Decimator and Resistance Bomber for 10€, Shadow Caster for 15€ and Imperial Raider and Croc for 30€. While I only need the damage deck, the X-Wing is certainly a nice addition to my collection, because the new model is much better than the old one and at the release event I probably will need 4 X-Wings. The Tie fighters on the other hand aren't much better than the old models and chances are high that I won't use them anyway, because I don't plan to buy the Imperial conversion kit. That said, I won't complain, because with the new distribution model of upgrades I am able to play X-Wing without paying a lot.

What I got from that FFG line of thinking is that a card available to more than 1 faction will show up in kits for each faction, instead of being in only 1 ship in the entire game. This means that Autothrusters, that for now only come with Fang Fighters, will be available to all factions in at least 1 of their specific kits (i.e. A-Wing for Rebel, TIE Interceptor for Empire, etc). In other words, you won't have to buy a Scum ship to have Autothrusters - some ship from your faction will have it.
What they won't do is to make such cards available to EVERYONE at the same pace.

Ignithas got a reaction from Varyag in Points adjustments over Errata? Not a great idea...
Point adjustments are preferable imo. If you really want an effect to be out of the game and replaced by another (which erratas essentially are), you can still raise the point to a value that makes it useless competitivly and make another card.

"Nushura wrote: I specifically remember Richard saying that they will use chains to balance decks in tournaments. As in, the current "official" handicap of all decks is zero but this may change in some future FAQ." "Garfield wrote
If I said that I misspoke or spoke unclearly. The FFG OP will have the final word on how this is implemented but there is a good chance handicaps won't be used in tournaments, at least in the sense that a deck has a handicap assigned before the tournament. Bidding handicaps or something like that might happen. There is no way FFG wants to be in the position of separating deck power from play skill ... and it is easy to game the system if your record determines a handicap.

That is why the chains are mentioned in the rules as being a handicapping system outside of tournaments - when you know the decks and want a fair (or more fair)game."
Especially the part of "there is a good chance handicaps won't be used in tournaments, at least in the sense that a deck has a handicap assigned before the tournament." indicates that your sentence  "or they may start each game already suffering from the chain mechanic" is more likely false than true, especially in combination with the rules indicating this.

It is written in the rulebook that the chain mechanic for winning games is only used outside of tournaments. Banning on the other hand could happen, but I wouldn't hold my breath for any deck that isn't completely broken.

The funny part is Scorpion is very strong right now (as evidenced by their domination of Toshi Ranbo) but they always cry about their supposedly weak cards. Meanwhile other clans who have been struggling just put their heads down and try (and wonder when they will get their LONG overdue Clan Packs).

But, that's what Archive effectively does. Archiving is both a really flexible tutor and/or filter effect.
Ideally you want to archive a card that goes along with whatever house you want to combo off with, but, you don't have all the pieces yet.  So I call house Logos, play Labwork, or even better Sloppy Labwork, to archive something that I want to use later.  Then I play whatever other Logos cards I can for that turn.  At minimum I am getting to see two more cards, to get me closer to my big play.  Even if I Archive a card that isn't part of whatever combo I am working towards, it's still getting me closer to what I want, faster than a player that isn't archiving cards because they have to have two cards of the same house they call in order to replicate the same effect that archiving produces.  When I do draw the other pieces to my combo, I pull the cards back from Archive and go off.  It's absolutely "stacking" the deck so to speak.
I could even just Archive cards that are garbage and let them rot to thin my deck by reshuffling faster and faster, to a point where I could cycle through the same set of strong cards repeatedly.  It's a long game plan, but, in the right deck it's a very real possibility.
Worst case scenario, Archive is the best form of card filtering available in the game.  At it's best it's also tutoring a card to be used later for your deck's big combo.

While it is true that card draw isn't as strong in Keyforge, because you can only play one house at a time, archiving cards is way better than card draw, because you not only get rid of a card you don't want at that moment (+1 card), you even get it back if you need it. So it is pretty much +1 card every turn until you play the card, or would have discarded it without the archive ability and then again +1 when you play it. And if you would have discarded it and  then use it, the card draw is even from a known house, which is worth much more than a random card.

While I understand your comparison of Keyforge to lootboxes, it seems pretty off here. Discovery isn't designed to be bought more than once and you can't win any prices in tournaments with it. The only "gamble" you make is how much fun you will have with game, which is true for every board game that you didn't test before.
