  1. Nori might be quite strong with dedicated deck discard, because there aren’t many more cards that recycle deck. So he’s more an enabler for weak but funny deck. And about commuting to the quest: from what I remember you trigger reactions before next player commits characters (makes Theodred weaker and the dwarf that looks at the top of encounter deck can help other players decide who to commit)
  2. But she attacks Hrognag Hill. I guess you can let her burn it for turn or two, but it has limited health, so Beregond or another tank will help
  3. Thranduil might work with Galadriel-Celeborn, mostly as reasource moving, becouse most lore/spirit allies are questers. But I really like idea of Celebrimbor, Galadriel, Argalad deck focused on questing and defending, and Thranduil TLegolas and Haldir deck with ranged allies focuses almost solely on attack, with elven mail for Thranduil giving him sentinel.
  4. I personally still hope we won’t have to pay for Favor cards. They may be one-use only in a way some boons are right now, and ffg will get their money from players buying normal cards. I hate buying something to play it only once, so I hope it’s as I say. I don’t mind paying some money for additional Hero packs if the game is fun to play, though.
  5. That will make hobbit secrecy decks much stronger. He has 4 (3 with fellowship Frodo) starting threat, and can discard himself to get back to secrecy. With hobbits you can play 2-hero deck and just discard him immediately. But outside of hobbit secrecy I don’t think he’ll have some uses
  6. Maybe Seastan will manage to build 4 decks that will put whole encounter deck into victory display. 3 enemies, 3 locations are easy, and Out of the wild can be recycled. But for now it seems almost impossible to survive more than 7-8 turns :-)
  7. I too found that the best deck for this scenario is mono tactics with heavy defence. There are couple of cards that punish you for having multiple spheres and tactics has a lot of defence to take care of questing. I think it's best to just don't care about willpower when building you deck. You only need it at stage 2, so if you can clear the first location the scenario isn't that hard. Boromir, Beregond, Gimli, Beorn are all good against this quest, and of course a lot of eagles/defenders of rammas, who siege quest for 4 while costing only 2
  8. Good job with Ithilien! I remember struggling a lot with beating it. I finally won it with Beorn, Boromir and Aragorn (lore), using a lot of early attack to battle quest, and resetting threat with Aragorn on the last stage. Do you want some small advice on Cair Andros or do you want to give it a couple of tries first?
  9. In the movies he only dodged, so I think that evades or accuracy decreases would be better
  10. Sam would make sense, but I think that spirit Galadriel is perfect for representing her magic influence (although she is not from saga boxes). If we get another version she will be either mostly copy of spirit or won't represent how her magic helped Sam. The only version that would make sense would be keeping her nenya questing, but removing ally buff (it doesn't help Sam's journey). But her action is simply the best for secrecy decks...
  11. Maybe something that will allow him travel through wilderness with easy? I mean location control. But we got a lot of it in last cycles, so I'm not sure if we need more
  12. It looks really great. Elladan and Elrohir, one-man-army Aragorn, a double quest for Black Gate... The only thing that bothers me is that we won't get Ringbearer Sam EDIT: I just realised that objective attachment "the last from the company" seems to be giving Ringbearer trait. So we do get Ringbearer Sam!
  13. Sounds interesting. It can always be used to cancel one point of threat at the end of the round, but if comboed it can easily go up to 3-4 threat. It's a shame that Hill troll and Ungoliant Spawn (her shadow effect) are not in this cycle, but as this card redraws itself it should always be at least playable.
  14. I think that this version of Song of Earendil is much too strong. It allows you to skip questing for 1 resource and 0 cards. Maybe "after you raise your threat from encounter card effect"? Or doomed keyword? There is a similar card right now (it's called Free Choice I think), it's cost 0 but doesn't draw you a card
  15. Peril in Pelargil is in my experience quest that you have to learn. I couldn't beat it at first, but now I can't lose it. It's a good way to understand scenarios with both battle and normal questing. But I wasn't playing progression series. Have you unlocked Beorn already? He is great for this box, as he can either battle quest really great or tank a lot of early damage (and you see how hard beginings are in this scenario) and then swing back.
  16. If you put a hero in a heaven, does he collect resources? If he does, I'd say that it's too strong with galadriel. She is already considered one of the best heroes, and this would make her have much lower starting threat (the threat of heaven is 7 lower, all you lose is her 4 hit points)
  17. I play with just one core and no more than 1 copy of each pack with 3-4 players. There is no need to buy duplicates. Buying second core gives you more tokens and threat trackers plus copies of some cards, but buying another pack gives you almost nothing (unless there is a card that you need each player to have 3 copies of, but that has never been a case in my experience)
  18. You think you have to wait long? In my country we have only one pack from Angmar Awakened and no one knows when we will see anything more... I don't even hope for getting dreamchaser cycle this or next year

For those who wander whether we are getting new Merry and Pip: So it'll be done same as Beyond all Hope, but I hope we'll see some interesting effects that work really well with them- preferably with both their versions. Eowin hero was a real shock for me (nice one, still). I firmly believed that we are getting Eomer and Imrahil. Now I hope we'll get Arwen's banner, Beregond, ally/hero Eomer and halbarad. I'm not sure if I want ally twins- I'd prefer to have another hero versions of them (allies are less relliable to get on a table), and I doubt we'll get 3 of them. Does anybody guess what this Eowin's event Stronger than Steel could do? After you kill opponent ready a hero would work well with her ability, but we have plenty of similar effects already.
  20. I like this Radagast idea. It works just as he did- support, messenger or info gatherer. I think that lore of herbs costs too much- you either pay 4 for good harvest or to heal only 2 wounds? If it works as I think it does it wouldn't be strong even if it was free. Moreover, you already have Radagast, so good harvest effect is not that good. Both Radagasts staff and Master of shape seem good, balanced cards offering versality instead of sheer power, which I like

Maybe he isn't as broken as Gandalf or Glorfindel, but (with any of couple of other heroes) can easily generate 1 resource in the first planning phase (so it's better than Theodred/Thorin (you can pay for allies/attachments in the first turn) and costs less threat than Theoden or Grima) and in the later turns when you have enough resources he can draw you cards. Even Arwen requires Elven Light for this, and I often couldn't get it in my hand till turn 6-7. Still, I think that +1 threat or sth like this would be enough to balance him.
  22. I played it solo with a silvan deck (Celeborn, Galadriel, Haldir) and it seemed easy. I had problem questing, mostly at first two turns. I ignored this pirate till turn 4-5 when I was ready for him. But it seemed to me that this quest would get harder with more players as burn would get more dangerous- in solo 2 damage per turn was a max (1 from this pirate and 1 from another enemy/treachery), and in multiplayer you could easily destroy a location before having chance to travel there. On the other hand I had quite lucky encounter draw, no enemies in first two turns. When playing solo this pirate girl engages last player, who doesn't exist, so I just ignore this and engage her in Encounter phase?

But with core Gandalf it returns him to your hand and gives you 6 resources, so this card becomes free Gandalf that gives you one resource, all that at cost of exhausting 1 ally (and eagles are fighters, so they usually can end up not doing nothing anyway, and almost always when Gandalf is on the table). Combined with sneak attack it can also generate sick amounts of resources. I think it can combo better than sneak attack, though it requires some cards in the hand/table to be played
  24. In some scenarios there is no surge, so she loses her ability. I agree that her stats are very good, but Haldir with same stats can attack staging area. Maybe switching doomed for surge isn't a good idea, but she should be able to use her ability more often with help of some atachments
