    I am trying to listen to he podcast but you guys say so many wrong things. . .

    Nathan's explanation of ACMs and XI7 for one. . . And so many more. . .

    Yea, we are very amateur and screw things up a lot. Part of our charm perhaps?  :D  Thanks for the listen! We'll try to get our facts straight a bit better in the future.

    Overall the competition was a bit tougher than anticipated. Lots of unique fleets though which is good. Glad to see the game hasn't mired down into a single type of meta that wins overall. Sorry if I sound a slight bit out of it this episode. Had just gotten back from class and brain was going a bit slower than usual. 

     

    One thing I forgot to mention in the show is just how great the community for this game is. My brother and one of our other friends were able to show up with practically nothing for the game and people were more than happy to lend ships, parts, etc so that everyone could enjoy the day. The tournament was supposed to be for 12 people and we ended up with 14 playing anyway. It was great! The awesome host of the event, Meeple Madness, was just spectacular as well. Love that store. 


  2. Just took a listen.  Nice job.  It was really interesting to hear a different opinion on Squadrons right now.  Seems like most of the IFF podcast guys are very negative on fighters but you guys were much more positive about their abilities and the threat the pose.  

    I was also surprised that you guys were talking about using both GSD types since post people use the GSD I pretty exclusively.  Again, good to hear alternative  opinions.

    Personally, I don't know how to use squadrons well myself yet and i've gone against players that used bombers very very effectively. I have a healthy respect for the damage they can do. Death of a thousand cuts. 

     

     

    Are you on iTunes ? Been waiting for a good podcast for this game. Will this be a regular thing ? Good luck at tournament.

  3. I've got a tournament coming up this Saturday. Here's the fleet I was able to test out a couple times last night. Won both games but I feel like it could improve.

    The Enchanced Armament more then earned it's points in my opinion on the corvettes and assualt frigate. I'm concerned how it will fair against  multi Gladiator lists and/or Bomber heavy lists though.

     

    Any critiques or suggestions to make it even better?

  4. Rules Reference: Page 2, Attack heading, #3, bullet point 2:

    Spend Accuracy Icons: The attacker can spend one or more of its (accuracy) icons to choose the same number of the defender's defense tokens. The chosen tokens cannot be spent during this attack. 

     

    Rules Reference: Page7, Modifying Dice heading, bullet point 4:

    Spend: When a die or die icon is spent, remove that die from the attack pool

    When the accuracy die is used, it is not longer in the attack pool. Since it's no longer in the attack pool, it cannot be removed with an Evade Token at Long Range. 


  5. wjgo, the rules lawyering is strong with you.

     

    It's pretty clear that that then intention and spirit of the rules is that an engaged squadron cannot move.

     

    I'm not sure what you are getting at with saying one thing is an effect and the other is not. Seems like a stretch to me. Engagement says "While a squadron is at distance 1 of one or more enemy squadrons, it is engaged with all of those enemy squadrons". I don't see any room for arguing there. 

     

    To speak to it in regards to the "While" effect definition you would have to define "instance of the event" to argue in any way that a squadron could move when it's engaged. To me, the instance of the event is the squadron being physically 1 distance or less away from an enemy squadron. That instance of that event does not end until that is no longer true. A "When" event occurs when a squadron token is played. There is nothing I can see that says you can ignore the ongoing instance of the "While" event (squadron being engaged) to override it with your new "When" event (Playing a squadron token). Therefore while playing the Token the squadron is still engaged and cannot be moved.
