I dont really like the design of the lightsaber. I think it would be cool if it just had a metal hilt (and if needed in the film, show that metal can block lightsaber blades).
To me the good thing about this lightsaber is that it means we will see a more medieval style of swordfight and people will stop using lightsabers like katanas. Yes, medieval swordfighting is not as cool and choreographic as what we are used to, but it is much more dramatic. I want weight in those lightsabers. I want that every blow counts. Enough of this:

I think it boils down to more than that. one of the best strategies to win is to rely as little as possible on the random-ness of dice, and count on the static parts of your list. A Target Lock for example, helps to reduce the luck factor in attacking, C-3PO takes the luck out of defending with the Falcon. Arc Dodging means you don't have to get shot at all.
Auto Thrusters is a way to help you effectively gain 1 guaranteed evade as a reward for flying well, and you CAN control how you fly. I expect to see these things on the majority of lists next worlds.

So I got to finally play against the Outrider with its 360 heavy laser cannon yesterday:
Leebo, Outrider, Experimental Interface, Marksmanship
The ship moved forward, target locked, marsmanshiped, and killed one tie interceptor, every turn, one per turn, no exception!
Whatever autothrusters is, it better help against this monster!

Yeah. Your blasters even fire at a ship in front of the shuttle right through the shuttles cockpit.
Maybe this a point defence system. But its not the rear blaster you might expect when seeing the model.
It works more like the "Hotshot" Blaster which can be everywhere on the ship.
Good for you if you are satisfied with APL as the shuttles rear blaster cannons - I am not.

Actually its 4 laser cannons (like a X-Wing) + 2 Ion Cannons (or 8 Laser Cannons for the military version - BUT Han solo also had 8 laser cannons on his ship). And retractable aft blaster cannons or laser cannons (2).
So it would have been 3 attack front arc and 2 attack rear arc.
Or a rear arc that cannot be used unless you mount a turret weapon, like i wrote above.
Take a model and look closely. There actually ARE aft cannons on the model we use.

With each new spoiler on the S&V faction I step to realize that the preference order of FFG or developers is currently:
1 - S & V
2 - Rebels
3 - Empire
The questions I ask myself about the game are:
How to balance things now that S&V came with everything and more ????
As I like to play with the empire, I think the faction that more will suffer until something is done is the empire.
I think the Empire suffers from the curse of Tie swarm. And because of this, by having an exceptional swarm was dropped down.
The Empire has a very large gap:
-Huge ships lack.
-Lack update escort for huge ships. (judged to be the same path that the rebels - Imperial scort be Tie fighter).
-Lack update for bomber tie (y-wing bomb loadout and Andrasta show this) / tie advanced lack/ lambda without auxiliary arc device (do not give me the old story of APL).
-PS Mid lack good pilots.
-Imperial Aces was a bad joke with the habilities of the rebel aces pilot.
Maybe now's the players who like or have a preference for rebels know how to have your faction pushed aside by another, because FFG is putting all the best in S & V.
Another issue:
With the repetition of some ships in the new faction (y-wing / hwk-290 / Firespray 31 / Z-95) and some small buffs that can be used by the rebels and empire:
Can we expect expansions of specific improvements for the same ships in the short time (next year)?
Ex: Y-wing "aces" specific for rebels or Firespray "aces" specific for the empire?

Something I was thinking: The modification card comes with a viper star then has to serve to star viper. In the interview the developers said that the modification would be loved by the interceptors but did not mention other high agility ships (A-wing, tie fighter, tie advanced, e-wing).
So the question is: What does the star viper and the tie interceptor have in common that other ships do not have?
Answer: Action bar com native boost and barrel roll. The only two ships in current time in the game that already have these actions on your action bar.
So the mechanics of this modification card should work with these actions.

And though I agree with this, I should make one remark:
Yes, the factions are balanced and both of them have equal chances to win... but I can't avoid to get the feeling that the imperial is much more limited than rebels in its selection of ships/upgrades/strategies.... In other words, though both have options to win, the Imperial side has less 'good options' to choose from than rebels for doing so.
Maybe it's a lack of useful upgrades, a lack of sinergies, or a lack of competitive pilots... I don't know, but that's my personal impression.

The imperial navy can't hang with the rebels like they used to. I can't tell you the last time I lost to an imperial list. They ot have two tricks in the playbook, swarm and arc dodging. I know the fluff supports a lack of diversity, but for gameplay, getting tabled everytime I break out the blue and grays is getting old.

Close to within range 2. Shoot. Shoot again with Ion Turret. If you ion the target, next turn drop your Seismics and K-turn...

It's not necessarily illegal, just unconventional. A criminal might want a hidden gun to surprise their enemies, a mass-produced military fighter is just going to spend that space/weight/power/etc on a normal gun or better engines or whatever. There's no need to have a hidden single-shot weapon when you're engaging in open combat, nobody is going to think "oh hey, that x-wing might be unarmed, guess we should ignore it" until it pops out a special gun and kills them. If a rebel or imperial force wants a turret ship they'll just bring a y-wing/decimator/etc.

More new stuff that will help the Rebel faction, what a surprise. If the "bomb loadout" had been "ywing or tie bomber only" it would have been more fair. Now the Rebels get a traditionally Imperial upgrade option for free. Seems fair to me.

I've made this double-sided reference card instead, for your printing leisure.
It's the same size as the ship cards, so it will fit right in with your stash.

On an overall basis, I agree, but it does have rather an important bearing on what it good for you. For example, someone who is more focused on offensive builds would get better use out of Darth Vader (crew), than someone who likes support or defensive builds.
