FFG always does this and I'm not a fan either.

Rotation only affects tournament play.  Nothing is stopping you from playing casually with the soon-to-be-rotated cards.  Rotation literally does not affect you at all.

Because that requires playtesting and research, and FFG is too good to bother doing their premier license justice.

So I preordered at the start of March, from 3 different U.K. Suppliers, on the basis that this would increase my chances of actually getting product on release. Nothing too excessive, 50 boosters total.
I decided to contact all three sellers this week to confirm if I had been allocated stock for release day, and when the product might ship.
Two retailers came back to me and confirmed yes, I had allocated stock, and they expect it to ship to me on 4 May, or maybe the day beforehand.
The third retailer didn't know when it would arrive or if I had allocated stock.
Assuming the retailers are up to speed on the supply fiasco first time around, I'm fairly confident I've received honest answers. I doubt I'd get told I had allocated stock if there was a risk of short supply again.
Interestingly, the third retailer is the smallest of the three, and therefore may be receiving less stock than the bigger companies, or may just be playing it safe.
Anyway, thought I'd share - I'm vaguely optimistic!

Because it keeps people involved in the game and buying cards. If it weren't for OCTGN I wouldn't spend as much money on the game as I have. They're really blowing it here.

Yep, that Navy deck's for real. I played 2 games with it tonight. Lost one game when I was a turn away from taking the game and won the other pretty easily. With some of the new Navy cards that have been spoiled I predict that they're going to become the DS faction to play. And then people can whine about that.

Yes, the game is still a lot of fun and becoming more interesting as new decks emerge. Navy, for example, has been looking strong lately and spoilers point the way to some bonkers-looking Navy TIE decks soon. Jedi Gamor had been dominant, but around here they're not anymore as everyone's figured out counters like the Sith/Scum decks you see around. Sleuths haven't been that good in a while and are pretty much terrible against these. Rebel speeder decks are still a lot of fun and can do well. What's been really strong lately are pure Jedi decks with a heavy emphasis on shielding using A Deep Commitment and, sometimes, a splash of ewoks.

Anyway, you're going to see a lot of whining about card balance much like the current whining about Netrunner and Near Earth Hub. Whatever. Neither game is perfect, but I still play them a lot and this game, in particular, is still one of my favorites.

The player base was never big, but I see zero evidence that it's shrunk.

Yes if you're not playing a lot the release pace will seem too fast. That's just how it goes. Free yourself of the compulsion to keep up if you don't want or are unable to devote much time to the game. It's cool.

After playing in the regional this weekend, I hate to say it, but I agree with this decision. I wasn't willing to push too hard in one direction or another, because I think the game is young and I trust the developers. However, at this point in the game, even if there are decks that can do well against this deck, I think having a deck that is just so obviously better than any other light side option is extremely bad for the health of the game.

The real problem is that this deck closes down the option pool. By being far and away the most consistent and powerful light side deck, it makes running anything else tough. This means both light and dark side decks get absurdly similar. The nice thing about a restricted list is that if in a year this becomes a lot less potent because of the options the other affiliations have, they can easily unrestrict these cards.

After coming away on Saturday from the regional, instead of looking forward to the next one I was dreading having to go through another day of smugglers in every single game (both me and my opponent). At the end of the day, this combo turned the game into something dramatically different than it was before and as it stands, I support this decision.

Super excited to see what happens to decks for the next round of regionals!

Had me worried there, but we're just talking about EU lore. The license and gameplay are safe for now. As far as lore is concerned I'm only mildly interested in anything that happened after 1983.

Thanks for the explanation of Top Tier's deckbuilder. I built one of my decks on there. I'll be moving the others over. fliptheforce.com is down right now so didn't get a chance to try that one.
