  1. The mechanic also reminds me a lot of Limit Break in Exalted, which I think they did a really good job with in v3. I’m reminded of how my Zenith priest had the limit break of Contempt of the Virtuous, and proceeded to try to convert a whole city to my cult while in the middle of a high stakes negotiation... So far I’ve had two characters in the group I’m GMing unmask. While we were using the character folios, I had them answer about 30 more questions about their character including more detail of their “passions.” This made the unmasking feel a lot more natural. For example, Bayushi Kyo attempted to poison Mei Lin in the sake house (don’t ask why), and while he had five successes to discretely place the poison, he also unmasked causing him to burst into uncontrollable laughter. After which, he decided that in the midst of the chaos he couldn’t tell which was his drink or hers... it added some fun narrative stakes. I like the idea of working with the PC to determine the best outcome of the unmasking. I think the more unmaskings, the more opportunities to complicate the stakes. The more characters draw connections to the world ie other PCs, NPCs, etiquette...etc, the more fun the break. As long as PCs don’t become preoccupied with managing strife as a bad thing, I think it is a lot of fun.
  2. That is incredible! Thank you for pointing that out.
  3. Great! Thank you very much! Maybe there is a thread already for this, but is there a listing of all the major NPCs by Clan who are referenced?
  4. Do you have any recommendations regarding some of the more narrative-based books which would still be applicable? A long time ago, I read the novels (I think they were named after the clans), and I did read the lastest Novella to try to get a sense of who's doing what. Thank you so much!
  5. I wasn't able to participate in the Beta for 5th edition, but I was curious if there was any official statement regarding the timeline of this edition in regards to previous editions? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Does anybody know if FFG is planning to include a resource for converting 4th edition characters/NPCs to 5th edition? I feel like my group is going to burn through the Beginners Box and supplemental adventure, and any resources I can borrow from 4th edition would be helpful.
  7. Coming tomorrow, along with Beyond the Rim. Very excited!
  8. Thanks for all the feedback. Can't wait to get my hands on the Beta!
  9. Not sure if I've missed a post about this along the way, but is there any info on force screams in the F&D corebook? Would love to incorporate it! One of my favs from the WEG days. If not, does anyone have any ideas to create it? I'm sure it will probably come along in some dark side splat, but in the meantime, I'd love your thoughts!
  10. It may just be me, but I've always thought that the force is found in EVERYTHING per Yoda: "For my ally is the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you. Here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere! Yes, even between the land and the ship." Darth Vader, while maybe not luminous in the light side of the force, still exists and even his cybernetics are part of the force. He also appears to be quite a powerful "sorcerer" in the force. He force chokes someone on a different ship, pretty hard check I would think. Even though this is now Legends, the Shard's (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Shard) can use the force and operate inside droid bodies. Since they don't have "bodies" does this mean they can use the force as well as someone with a "body?" Ultimately I agree with the sentiment that it is the GM/PCs discretion as to what makes the most sense in the given situation.
  11. The Lords of the Expanse WEG expansion was fantastic. Would love to see Saber rakes return.
