MechaBri.Zilla got a reaction from Vykes in What would you think of a ground unit version?
I totally respect this idea.   I would love for there to be some honest competition the 40k line and SW would be ideal for that.  The only thing I have trouble with is the scale of things.  I mean, to match scale with x-wing would require such tiny figures, I don't think that they would include a level of detail that I would enjoy.  I think I would prefer a separate game at the same scale as 40k.
If they could put some serious thought into the system and make it as quick and easy to play as this…  I personally would dump every 40k mini I own and jump directly on the band wagon.  That's saying something, because from Ep1 to now, I've pretty much sworn off Star Wars.
I would have to be Anti-Clone wars…  If I see a single Gungan, FFG will not get a penny of my money.

    Kako,

Though development has fallen off, and organized play is over, the game is not done.  FFG has a good record of announcing when a game of this type is no longer supported, and they haven't done that.  In any case, when they make those announcements, it is usually with the release of some final expansion as well.  So I would think we will see at least one last expansion, even if they are ending support of the game.

No one knows what the new scenario is yet, because the last tournament kits aren't out yet.  I have ordered one myself, and expect to have it relatively soon though, so once I find out, I'll be sure to let people know.  Assuming someone else doesn't see there's first.

Even if the Warhammer tabletop setting changes dramatically... I do not see why that should influence the board game in any way. There should be no problem running two parallel WH settings simultaniously. In my understanding there are just two ways why development of Discwars WH would stop:
First, sales drop dramatically and FFG gets rid of some non-profitable project.
Second, liscence contract for the franchise runs out for any reason.
That may already has happened or not, but let us not jump to conclusions. As long as FFG itself does not announce anything about Discwars I assume that the war rages on, sooner or later.

Weird...I was just thinking about how I felt some sort of announcement was coming.  I hope you are right.  Maybe if we send enough good vibes to FFG it will work.

I will concentrate all of my powers...do not disturb.

Sometimes I find myself wishing that FFG didn't run such a tight ship.  A leak here and there would be nice...

Kako,  you really need to take all of those rumors with a huge boat load of salt.  I've been following GW rumors for some time, and their validity falls something like this.  75% Completely false, 20% You can see where they were coming from, but still not exactly what the rumor said, 4% True from a certain point of view, 1% spot on.

At any rate, GW gets money from the Diskwars IP, they aren't going to kill it, just because it doesn't match their current meta.  Even in the most extreme rumors, they go out of their way to say you can use the 8th ed book to represent battles before the End Times, End Times Campaign books to represent the world being torn asunder, and then the new book to represent the new world.

Certainly you are right, the world will be contracted.  They've already started merging factions in the End Times.  But I'm also certain that the End Times were already in the planning stages when Diskwars came out, and certainly by the time the two expansions came out.  Nagash may have even been on the shelf, though I can't quite remember when that book hit relative to the Diskwars releases.

I think Sniper Troll is right.  This game will at least be 'completed'.  It wouldn't look good for FFG to leave what is clearly half of the intended game unfinished.  We will, at the very least, see the four stub races completed before they will kill the game.  The question is, how long will that take.

Sniper Troll, if I recall correctly, when they stopped invasion they did while announcing two final expansions, right?  Was it the same for Tanhauser?

By the way, I don't know if you've looked through the rest of these threads, but Sniper Troll has an awesome blog about this game.  It goes into everything, from the basic rules, army building, advanced strategy, and battle reports.  Here's the link, in case you've missed it.  His blog is certain to answer 90% of the questions about the game you might have.

That's exactly it.  They may trade poorly in some circumstances, but the key is to always have them arrive under the correct circumstances--those critical times that change the game in your favor.  The fact that most of them boast keywords like flying, flank, mobile, scout, and high movement values means that having them arrive at the right time isn't as hard as it might seem!

I've been catching up on battle reports lately since I was three or four behind, and I really enjoyed the last few.  20 was especially interesting to read--it seemed like a very close game!  Keep up the good work.
