MechaBri.Zilla got a reaction from Jedhead in Expansion stalker
Would that include the 40k License? That doesn't make sense too me, since they are still producing the 40k lcg, and the RPG iirc.
Anyway, I'm still missing this game.

MechaBri.Zilla reacted to Jedhead in Best Experience
Honestly, I think you can have a great time with even one core set and one of each expansion, but I think you get the best value with two cores and one of each expansion. I have found that this gives me excellent options for army-building without breaking the bank. My brother also owns one of each, and I have occasionally borrowed his disks for certain builds, but I find diminishing returns is the rule of the day for more than two cores, though it is nice to have three if you can afford the luxury. I would probably err on the side of two of each expansions before I would go for three cores.
As far as size, I think two regiment games are the best in terms of game-time and fun. That said, I enjoy three regiment as well. We did a three player, three regiment battle once and it was super crazy, chaotic, and fun. Things die in droves, which is pretty Warhammer-y.
Try both, see what you prefer!

Welcome to the game, it is a good one! Welcome to the forums as well.
An expansion doesn't look probable, but I won't give up until it is announced dead. I am really curious about how Age of Sigmar and the total gutting of the Old World has affected all of this, but with Total War making a Warhammer game it doesn't seem to be a cease and desist order from GW...
Who knows? I just hope we get some new disks at some point, even if it is just a "goodbye" set. Either way, you won't regret purchasing the old stuff--I have got many good hours out of it, including the posts above

I hope that it revives WH:DW
And it looks like TW:WH will be a big hit so...
It's two years after last expansions, and Skavens are not published?
FFG do not miss the opportunity

MechaBri.Zilla reacted to Jedhead in Total War: Warhammer
So what do people think about this upcoming PC game? I will admit, I am a huge fan of Total War, even though CA can't seem to sort out bugs in a timely fashion or create an AI that isn't pathetic. In spite of the shortcomings of the company, I have been waiting forever for them to either make a Lord of the Rings or Warhammer version of Total War. I am pretty excited to see it in action, enough so that I actually preordered the game, which I virtually never do for PC games.
My biggest disappointment was actually the Chaos DLC announcement. They should have been in the base game (come on--it's chaos), and the open attempt at a money-grab is a bit disconcerting, especially considering that CA has displayed this tendency recently in its other games.
What are other people thinking?

Am I the only one who comes here every day in hope of finding some news on more expansions?
Alas, only silence greets me.

I never play without it

Get the hell out of here you **** dirty Trekky!
In all seriousness though, I think Wiz kids has the full license for Star Trek Fleet games so I don't think FFG will be able to make a Armada equivalent.

I'm a Lizardman fan myself, so I really want (aside from the obvious full faction treatment) a Slann Mage as a hero. Immortal Giant Toad Wizards for the win! Oh, and also a Carnosaur. Because dinosaurs.
I also love the play of the Vampire Counts, so I'd love to see some units that...help them be more competitive. Overall as I played them, I found that if I played a random player, I was at a serious disadvantage because they really so heavily on being able to outguess on the command cards.
As far as an additional faction, I'd love to see Ogres. And Skaven. And Brettonia.
I do still have hopes that we'll see more for this game in the future, just on a board game expansion speed, not an LCG speed (which is fine with me,the pace of the LCGs is too hard for me to keep up with). Would love a statement from FFG confirming that the game isn't dead - since when they cancelled the tournament packs they said the game was doing well...

I can't tell you how OP did around the world, but in my neck of the woods, we have 5 game stores within driving distance. Among those only 2 even carried the game, and only one tried to set up organized play. I showed up. That's right, me. Well, and one guy I dragged with me. That's it. No scene at all. I live near a large college town with lots of potential players, and I was the only one interested in organized play.
Again, this is just my experience and can't be applied to the world wide community, but if the turn outs around the world were similar to what we had here, I can't blame FFG for dropping the game from it's list of OP titles. That said, I can usually get a game when I want one, and my FLGS says that the game sells fairly well, so I continue to hope for more products.
Just remember, it's not a respect issue. FFG shows more respect for the their players than almost any other game company I have experience with. GW, I'm looking at you... Love your products, but seriously talk to us! ahem... Sorry. Anyway, FFG is a bis. They have limited resources, if one game (any game) can make them more money in OP than Diskwars did, I fully support them switching too it. The better FFG does, the better chance we'll continue to see awesome games from them. If Diskwars dies, well then, I have 2 copies of everything they sold, so I'm pretty happy.

MechaBri.Zilla reacted to High Elves 77 in Question about promo terrain
Can you use the promo terrain (Tower of Sorcery, Herdstone) as terrain pieces that can be picked in a game, or can you only use them with their special scenarios?
-
MechaBri.Zilla reacted to Jedhead in Question about promo terrain
House rules would allow you to do whatever you want, so I would go that route with friends who are like-minded.
If you are playing "officially" I would think that promo terrain would be frowned upon, but with no tournament life in the game, it should be simple to just clear it with your opponent before hand and see if he also wanted to use it.

Yeah...I was hoping for something this year too. They'll eventually come out with expansions to flesh out the remaining factions probably next year. That would seem to fit with their release schedule for other WFB properties (like Blood Bowl). What I'm more worried about is will they continue to release new stuff after they've fleshed out all of the armies. There are still so many great units to release (Skarsnik and Gobbla, Korhil, White Lions just to name a few).

MechaBri.Zilla reacted to Jedhead in A bit disapointed
I love Star Wars, and between my brothers and my own purchases we have most of those games in our collection, but it doesn't quite scratch my fantasy itch completely. Warhammer is a great IP, and I prefer Fantasy greatly to 40K, so Diskwars will always have a special place in my heart just because of that, but the gameplay is also phenomenal.
Right now, I am desperate for expansions. Heck, I ended up buying Warhammer Quest mostly as a proxy outlet for my Diskwars obsession! It does look like a cool game as well, though.

I hear you Jedhead. I've been moping about this game myself. I don't even swing through the forum and BGG pages as much as I used to. It's too depressing.
I'm not complaining exactly, ok I am a little, but it really seems like Star Wars is edging out a lot of the smaller ip's that FFG has. I can't blame them, I mean, SW makes money. I love FFG games, and I want them to be a healthy and successful company, so they can continue to make the games I love. Heck, I even like a lot of their SW stuff. I was pretty excited about the new Force Awakens X-Wing Core. That said, this is my favorite board game currently out there. I desperately want them to at least fill in the factions they've started.
I am holding out hope that we will get some more expansions. I'm just afraid the game will be all but dead by the time it happens, and that poor sales of those expansions, when they do come out, will mean a more permanent end to the game.

I don't know if I expect any expansions or not at this point. I still try to persuade people I know to play a match whenever possible. So far we have only played with the preconstructed armies, so there is much left for us to explore in the game. I wish this game would generate more buzz online so I had something to read between matches. Snipertroll has done us all a great favor with his blog. It is really solid stuff.

MechaBri.Zilla reacted to Jedhead in A bit disapointed
It is interesting that they made a point of mentioning the strong sales of this title as they discontinued tournament play, as they have yet to follow up on those "strong sales" with another release. Realistically, MechaBri.Zilla may be right--we have reached the point where it is difficult to sustain interest for many players, and extremely difficult (in my experience) to generate interest in new players, which is critical for the game's health.
I consider myself to be an extremely devoted Diswars disciple (see my reams of material on disk types for proof of my obsession), but I must confess that even I am giving in to the general funk that is surrounding the game right now. I have only played a single game in the last two months, which saddens me greatly, and I come here to the forums to mope...but even that has become a rare occurrence for me.
That said, one announcement would instantly lift the clouds and let the sun shine through, and I would skip merrily again through the meadows of Diskwars heaven, singing the praises of my favorite game once more. Armed with a new expansion, I think I could revitalize the game within my gaming circle at least, but unless more support was forthcoming it would most likely be a temporary reprieve at best.
I love this game so much, but it is hard to get others to love it without some support. How many different ways and in how many different threads have I said this? I'm not sure if it makes me feel better or worse to say it again, but it's all I can do right now.

So, I had really been holding out hope for a holiday timed expansion for my favorite 2 dimensional game... But, I think we'd have heard by now if we were going to see anything before year end.
Gotta be honest folks, I'm loosing hope in expansions and support for this game. Not that it will never come, but that it will be much too little, much too late. A game like this, though technically a board game, needs an infusion of new stuff somewhat regularly to keep interest up, unfortunately, I think by the time we get anything new, this game will be long past the ability to add new players.
I already find it increasingly difficult to get games. I think the players I've been playing with are getting board and moving on to other stuff.

MechaBri.Zilla reacted to dkartzinel in A bit disapointed
I'm definitely disappointed, but I'm not sure it's too late. I feel like the game needed a bit more fleshing out to feel really complete (i.e. completed factions for Dark Elves, Lizardmen, Skaven, and wood elves, some help for the undead, preferably a ruling about only one of certain creatures (I'm looking at you double bloodthirsters and sun dragons) in armies).
I think the problem is that initially this game felt more like an LCG, especially with the quick release schedule of the first two expansions, and now has been shifted to board game status in favor of other more popular properties. I'm actually fine with this being relegated to that style of release (slow to no expansions) schedule, but I really feel like the game desperately needs that one last deluxe expansion to really feel "done". Right now certain builds and certain factions are just too dominant.
