I would say charge between $5-$10 to cover your cost for the regional event pack you have to buy from fantasy flight. Then if there is money left over add it to the prize pool either as store credit or ships as prizes. Since the trophy is supplied in the regional pack it is up to you what to do for other prizes. As far as how to run the tournament, the tournament rules should cover the tournament rules. the pairings should be done as a swiss pairing system with winners playing each other, but also the point factor should come into play. I use a java program I got from fantasy flight. Works beautifully. I run my tournaments as 50 minute rounds and 10 minute setup. So basically 1 hour per round. If you have any questions I have run 3 of these and it runs very smoothely.

A modified match win is when a player wins by having more points left. A match win is when he destroys all of his opponents ships.

Hope everyone has had a great Holiday season. This is the first announcement for the first Star Wars X-Wing League at the Game Shop in Bellevue Nebraska. See Below for most of the info.
When: The League starts Tuesday January 8, 2013 and will be every Tuesday for 8 weeks. Late entry will go till week 3 begins.
Where: Game Shoppe, Bellevue, NE
Time: 6pm Unless otherwise noted.
Entry Fee: To be determined. The fee will go towards prizes.
Prizes: Weekly giveaways of acrylic range sticks, and maybe other surprises.
Rules:
Each player will choose either Rebels or Empire and will play that side each week until the end of the league. The league scoring will be explained the first Tuesday of the league, but it is like Tug o War. Each week there will be a theme that we will play. The theme will be either dog fight, dog fight with Asteroids, Scenario, or some other crazy thing I come up with.
You will start the league by bringing a 100 point Squad of either Empire or Rebels. You must have a Core Set which contains dice, damage deck, range stick, movement templates, 6 asteroids, and basic rules. You will not need the original box, just the supplies from the core set. On weeks with a scenario you will also need the other markers that will be used with the specific scenario. Currently only WAVE 1 SHIPS ARE ALLOWED ALONG WITH THE DICE APP FROM FANTASY FLIGHT If during the course of the league Wave 2 releases it will become immediately availible for play in the league.
If you have any questions, ask them either her on this thread, the Game Shoppe's forums where I will also list this, or ask when you see me.
Hope to see many of you January 8th.

We will be starting leagues in January on Tuesday nights. All are welcome to join in. Thanks again for all who came out and congrats to those who won the ships.

For any tournament I run the round will start, then placement begins. If you wait for all players to be ready then the rounds will last longer than you want them to.
-
Get some sleep if you are coming to The Game Shoppe tomorrow. 2pm will come quickly.
-
Ziggy, Just as a reference note. The KRE tournament rules on how many rounds are different from the regular rules. Just as an FYI.
-
It will be a fun day. As far ast the basic box question is concerned, it means the components. The physical box is the option. I will be at the shop at noon to begin setup. Cannot wait to meet everyone.

Just for FYI the ships in the finals are pre builds.
