  1. So, I know the gamemat is not actually out yet, but it can be pre-ordered. You can get a good look of it here.

But I am curious - how would you actually use this? The initiative tracker for example... Would you place a token for each PC and NPC on the corresponding number? And what about stances? It would make sense if each player had a "stance wheel" in front of them - but what would you do with the one on the gamemat? I am just confused as how to actually use it in-game.

  2. So I am fairly new to L5R, and am buying the dynasty packs in release order. I am also just getting started with deck building. Is there a website that gives suggested decks in chronological processions so to speak? Like, if I have Core and "Tears of聽Amaterasu" - it will use cards from those. "For Honor and Glory" would use cards from Core, ToA and FHaG, and so one...?

  3. So, I have stopped playing Imperial Assault and am looking at selling my whole lot (not wanting to break it up). How much do you all think this should be worth?聽I have all the following, not including boxes and original packaging:

I was thinking of one that allows moving one range band as an incidental per round. Potentially ignoring obstacles.

That's really powerful! How would this look like mechanically - especially at Improved and Supreme level?

  5. Has anyone else experimented with custom Heroic Abilities? Our GM approved this ability, which I suggested because I wanted to create a "battle bard." Some may say that it crosses over to other types of magic too much, but I really like the flavor. How about you guys? Have you made anything?

    TUNEWEAVING

Your character has a mystical connection to the Turning, which they access through their聽prowess in singing or musical ability. Whether through playing the bell lyre, horn, pipe or聽through singing ancient melodies of arcane origins, the character can summon ancient聽magic in a way few bards or troubadours have ever achieved.

Base: When choosing this Heroic Ability at character creation, pick either Attack, Barrier聽or Conjuring. While the Heroic Ability is activated, the character may use Verse to cast聽spells within the type he has chosen with an additional rank in Verse. As a maneuver, the聽character may also chose one minion group within medium range. That group will not聽make a combat check against the character for the duration of the ability, unless attacked聽first.

Improved: The character may choose an additional type of magic, above the one chosen聽for the Base ability (Attack, Barrier or Conjuring). As an incidental, the character may also聽chose one minion group within medium range. That group will not make a combat check聽against the character for the duration of the ability, unless attacked first.

Supreme: The character may choose an additional type of magic, above the one chosen聽for Base and Improved Tuneweaver (Attack, Barrier or Conjuring). As an incidental, the聽character may also target all minion groups within medium distance. Those groups will not聽make a combat check against the character for the duration of the ability, unless attacked聽first.

You are right. Being a Grandmaster should be something you work for during a complete and long campaign. So you should need 500-600 xp at least to become one. Just be careful when arranging their tier that the effects are in line with the guidelines for balancing new talents found in the CRB.

    Great work by the way!

Will do! And I welcome any help or input in balancing the talents/disciplines. Other than re-skinning and creating monsters, that is by far the most important thing in this adaptation.

  7. Okidoki.... So I am reworking the Kai Disciplines. As I have it right now it would cost 70 XP in talents to become Magnakai (i.e. learn all 10 Basic Kai Disciplines).聽It would cost 260 XP in talents聽to become Kai Grand Master.

But that actually seem really cheap to me. I compare it to Star Wars, where 600XP = Jedi Knight level.

Wouldn't 500XP be more appropriate for a Kai Grandmaster? If so, all 10聽Magnakai Disciplines are Tier 3.聽That would then open up the Tier 4 and 5 talents (Kai Grandmaster Disciplines).

  8. All other talents will be open to any career, so I don't see them being weaker. If a Kai Lord ONLY invests in Kai Disciplines he will be very weak in both skills and attributes.聽Magnakai Disciplines are extremely powerful and RARE, so I think Tier 5 is appropriate. Think Jedi Master level. To be proficient in all of them makes you an absolute living legend.

EDIT: Actually, I will have to do some math to see what is appropriate in terms of Magnakai. I am still leaning towards Tier 5, but maybe Tier 4 is more balanced...

  9. I'm getting very little feedback, so I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but this is what I have so far, building on what Justin had made:

I will finish the Improved Kai Disciplines and Magnakai Disciplines, and then I will move on to Equipment and Monsters.

Cheers. Eventually I plan to create all of the Lone Wolf Traits and disciplines as Talents but I expect it will take a while.

What do you think about having Magnakai Disciplines as Tier 5 Talents - with the prerequisite that you have to have at least 聽*all* the basic (not "improved) Kai Disciplines Talents before purchasing them? Just brainstorming...

Can you tell me what you used to make this? I would like to do my own take on a character sheet for my campaign.

It was made in Pages (Mac) with some elements created in Photoshop.

  12. I want to continue with this project, but had to refamiliarize myself with D&D first. 5e stuff will be way easier to adapt for Genesys than 3.5 or 4.

So I will continue to work away and post any updates to what I do. May also bower some stuff from Terrinoth if appropriate...
