I was thinking of one that allows moving one range band as an incidental per round. Potentially ignoring obstacles.

That's really powerful! How would this look like mechanically - especially at Improved and Supreme level?

  3. Has anyone else experimented with custom Heroic Abilities? Our GM approved this ability, which I suggested because I wanted to create a "battle bard." Some may say that it crosses over to other types of magic too much, but I really like the flavor. How about you guys? Have you made anything?

    TUNEWEAVING

Your character has a mystical connection to the Turning, which they access through their prowess in singing or musical ability. Whether through playing the bell lyre, horn, pipe or through singing ancient melodies of arcane origins, the character can summon ancient magic in a way few bards or troubadours have ever achieved.

Base: When choosing this Heroic Ability at character creation, pick either Attack, Barrier or Conjuring. While the Heroic Ability is activated, the character may use Verse to cast spells within the type he has chosen with an additional rank in Verse. As a maneuver, the character may also chose one minion group within medium range. That group will not make a combat check against the character for the duration of the ability, unless attacked first.

Improved: The character may choose an additional type of magic, above the one chosen for the Base ability (Attack, Barrier or Conjuring). As an incidental, the character may also chose one minion group within medium range. That group will not make a combat check against the character for the duration of the ability, unless attacked first.

Supreme: The character may choose an additional type of magic, above the one chosen for Base and Improved Tuneweaver (Attack, Barrier or Conjuring). As an incidental, the character may also target all minion groups within medium distance. Those groups will not make a combat check against the character for the duration of the ability, unless attacked first.

You are right. Being a Grandmaster should be something you work for during a complete and long campaign. So you should need 500-600 xp at least to become one. Just be careful when arranging their tier that the effects are in line with the guidelines for balancing new talents found in the CRB.

    Great work by the way!

Will do! And I welcome any help or input in balancing the talents/disciplines. Other than re-skinning and creating monsters, that is by far the most important thing in this adaptation.

  5. Okidoki.... So I am reworking the Kai Disciplines. As I have it right now it would cost 70 XP in talents to become Magnakai (i.e. learn all 10 Basic Kai Disciplines). It would cost 260 XP in talents to become Kai Grand Master.

But that actually seem really cheap to me. I compare it to Star Wars, where 600XP = Jedi Knight level.

Wouldn't 500XP be more appropriate for a Kai Grandmaster? If so, all 10 Magnakai Disciplines are Tier 3. That would then open up the Tier 4 and 5 talents (Kai Grandmaster Disciplines).

  6. All other talents will be open to any career, so I don't see them being weaker. If a Kai Lord ONLY invests in Kai Disciplines he will be very weak in both skills and attributes. Magnakai Disciplines are extremely powerful and RARE, so I think Tier 5 is appropriate. Think Jedi Master level. To be proficient in all of them makes you an absolute living legend.

EDIT: Actually, I will have to do some math to see what is appropriate in terms of Magnakai. I am still leaning towards Tier 5, but maybe Tier 4 is more balanced...

  7. I'm getting very little feedback, so I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but this is what I have so far, building on what Justin had made:

I will finish the Improved Kai Disciplines and Magnakai Disciplines, and then I will move on to Equipment and Monsters.

Cheers. Eventually I plan to create all of the Lone Wolf Traits and disciplines as Talents but I expect it will take a while.

What do you think about having Magnakai Disciplines as Tier 5 Talents - with the prerequisite that you have to have at least  *all* the basic (not "improved) Kai Disciplines Talents before purchasing them? Just brainstorming...

Can you tell me what you used to make this? I would like to do my own take on a character sheet for my campaign.

It was made in Pages (Mac) with some elements created in Photoshop.

  10. I want to continue with this project, but had to refamiliarize myself with D&D first. 5e stuff will be way easier to adapt for Genesys than 3.5 or 4.

So I will continue to work away and post any updates to what I do. May also bower some stuff from Terrinoth if appropriate...

This follows the rules for buying improved talents at higher tiers - but is speaking a second language more worthwhile in your game than the Dedication talent? The latter only costs 25XP.

That's a fair point. I suppose it could be seen as a bit expensive, but if you have ever learned a language you know that it is not necessarily an easy feat!

Also, no prior tiers are required to learn languages, following my house rules. Dedication may cost 25XP, but you will have had to invest 150XP before even getting to Tier 5!

EDIT: Also, most PCs will be satisfied only reaching the second Proficiency Level.

  12. I have a special spot for "Languages" on the character sheet, followed by "Proficiency"

Languages are leveled. Each proficiency level costs 5XP. At 5XP (first level) the PC can communicate simple sentences with a strong accent. At 10XP (second level) the PC has no major problems conversing, except when speaking on academic or very specified topics. The PC still has a faint accent. At 15XP (third level) the PC speaks the language as a native. Becoming fluent therefore costs 30 XP.

    Simple and no hassle.

And here is what I must say: guys, playing Forgotten Realms using Genesys means play Genesys, not D&D. D&D have cool ideais, but is a very different system. Trying to convert the system is something insane to do.

Agreed! I want to work on the essentials - races, classes, weapons, monsters and magic.

Also - I am adding a link in the OP to the latest version. Feel free to check it out.
