I'm leaning towards yes. Spending a focus is any time you spend a focus. It has also been ruled that you can spend a focus without having focus on your dice. He could roll all blanks, and still spend a focus on nothing. (Someone correct me if this has changed recently)
There are many similar interactions that grant Target Lock mid attack, and it can still be used to modify dice.
R4 aggromech and blaster turret.

The problem is FFG has flip flopped on whether abilities and effects are taken away when a card is removed.
At one point they said it stays, and now it seems like they go away.
I think we all knew Boba was going to get FAQ'd. The description on the card is far too brief.

I would certainly count "A New Threat" as having random token placements...that mission is ridiculous hard partially because of that.
Sounds like the random token shuffle isn't so bad. Good to know. It's heavily used in Descent, i was about to abandon this game if it's as common. I don't buy the replay-ability argument. I have never played an encounter twice in descent or IA. Tho it does seems IA almost requires second playthroughs for some of these maps. This stuff is ridiculous.
I don't think anyone is happy after "a new threat", regardless of token placement.

I'd say imperial shield regen is basically evade tokens. Every time an x7 defender does a 3+ speed maneuver they essentially recover a shield (not always true but a close approximation). Same with a TAP acquiring a target lock while carrying the title.
except it's still not as good as regen. It's one of the worst mechanics to be abused in this game.

How many of these mission involve random placement of event tokens?
I know exactly why FFG did this. It makes missions skewed depending on where the random tokens are placed. Sometimes Rebels will have an easy time because of placement, other times, the imperial player has the advantage. It makes the win ratio more even no matter how bad the rest of the mission is laid out. Online trackers show even statistics, but it has nothing to do with mission balance. Some Groups are just f'd.
This drove me crazy in descent. I'm sad to see it here as well.

It would be best to reserve Epic scale questions until the Raider is released. There are far too many questions with Imperial synergy with Huge base ships.
-
Just make sure you have a dummy card or something to represent it, so your opponent can easily identify what each ship has equipped.
-
The second point may seem a little snarky, but it is well within the rules. You can give a light comment in a friendly game, but people will use every legal tool available in a tournament. There's precedence for this in many other tabletop games as well. Know what can and cannot be measured.
Any arguments to Vassal are purely speculative as it is not an official platform for this game, and would be best handled outside FFG forums.

I had an opponent that was using C-3PO on the Action of Lando crew as it only says before you roll defense dice. It seems legit, and I couldn't find anything that says otherwise in the FAQ.Is there anything that would limit C-3PO to an agility defense roll, or can you use it with the Lando crew Action as well?Recon and Jan might be a better choice for your opponet. All he is doing is use 1 card to take away risk from another
how did the match go? did that trick make a diffrence?
It didn't make a difference. This came up out of desperation, and after we agreed it was legal he proceeded to guess 2 evades on the Lando roll giving him 3 evade tokens for a round. It paid off for that one round, but the Empire proceeded to crush him soon after.

If you roll that many Evade results (before modifying dice), add 1 Evade result.LandoAction: Roll 2 defense dice. For each Focus result, assign 1 focus token to your ship. For each Evade result, assign 1 evade token to your ship. -
Don't forget that you can only reroll a dice once. e.g. you can't Target Lock reroll a dice reroiled by predator. I only mention it because I played it wrong, and a lot of new people play it wrong.
-
For me, any roll that results in damage is considered a "hit". Damages - being regular or critical - are "hits". Keep it simple and stupid.
then you would be playing it wrong.

Infinite bumps with large ships are quite common.
Any team with two large ships can maneuver to face each other and bump endlessly.
I'm not sure on the official ruling.

They are no longer overlapping, but they are touching. You can't have the ship as your target, but I can't find anything that would forfeit your action. That is only listed for overlapping conditions.
"From the opposite end of the template, move
the active ship backward along the top of thetemplate until it no longer overlaps another ship" -
The bombers do need love, but I think they will inevitably get it. Every new missile and torpedo is a boost to a bomber built.
-
I disagree. The first ship overlaps, so you must move him back until he no longer overlaps. The second ship moves 0. There is no longer an overlap condition.

I like using the crow as a focus boat. I agree Stealth device is better used on ships with existing high agility. You may want to consider running lower cost pilots against the swam. Expensive ships are juicy targets.

Some of this depends on which era's and storylines they are allowed to pull from. There are a lot of variations of the standard X wing as well.TBH, there is not a huge cast of star fighters to pull from unless you start digging. I also doubt they would be allowed to create any new ships.
card expansions will probably come more frequently than ships.
-
With this scale it would just be silly to go to Star Destroyers or other capitol ships. I think small Frigates and Corvette's are more likely. Something with a set rate of fire , where one would have to choose whether to fire the formation on the right or left, or hit them both slightly.
i am already considering a strategy where a medium base shields your weak TIE's until they are closer to the battle.
I just hope this game stays around awhile.

That interceptor looks sick. They put these out later in the Con, so i was completely surprised when I looked at them on Sunday.
Hopefully this game sticks. People at GenCon really seemed to like it.

It's also easier to use physics that most people can grasp. Without a 0 on the dial, i also agree this should not be allowed.
